Summary: Shambhala--The Sacred Path of the Warrior+++
Review: "In this practical guide to enlightened living, Chogyam Trungpa offers an inspiring vision for our time, based on the figure of the sacred warrior. In ancient times, the warrior learned to master the challenges of life, both on and off the battlefield. He acquired a sense of personal freedom and power--not through violence or aggression, but through gentleness, courage, and self-knowledge. The Japanese samurai, the warrior-kings of Tibet, the knights of medieval Europe, and the warriors of the Native American tribes are a few examples of this universal tradition of wisdom."+++

Summary: A great book that opens up the heart of warriorship
Review: "It is better to read a book one hundred times than to read 100 books at one time" Chinese Proverb. This book is essential warriorship training in that it makes up look deep inside ourselves and how we complicate our lives by being afraid of who we are.

Review: "The Shambhala teachings are founded on the premise that there is basic human wisdom that can help to solve the world's problems. This wisdom does not belong to any one culture or religion, nor does it come only from the West or the East. Rather, it is a tradition of human warriorship that has existed in many cultures at many times throughout history". - Chogyam Trungpa

The book looks at the principles of warriorship, and this is non-aggressive, no swords and daggers here.

I read this book and it was like having spent my whole life walking from place to place. Then one day being given a bicycle to travel around. And one night, whilst asleep, dreaming of the awesome speed I was now able to travel at, someone sneaks into my garage and fits a turbo charged, jet powered, rocket engine.

I would recommend this book to anyone, and have been doing, if you are reading this now then your search is complete, there is no need to go any further. Put it in your shopping basket and get ready for the rollercoaster ride of your life.

Summary: Every Day Reminder
Review: A good book to keep in your collection, read and absorb the messages transmitted about the everyday life, and how to approach it and face it with all its varieties...

Easy to follow in the different chapters, and it actually gives us many new insights about a different culture and belief. The Shambhala is a complete method of living by itself with many followers in the far East, and expanding all over the world.

One book that will help for sure get you more organized, focused, and look at things a little differently.

Summary: None Better At Detailing Warrior Buddhism
Review: Although it gives very little on the tenets of living as a modern warrior, this book easily relates the ethics of the warrior with everyday life. It guides us to be true ("genuine") to ourselves, to break out of our self-deception, to overcome fear, to see goodness passed the darknees around, and to experience the magic of our lives. Also, it directs us to lead ourselves, and those we care for, toward an enlightened society. IT HONESTLY IS JUST A VERY EASY READ, AS WE CAN ALL RELATE TO THE MESSAGE IT GIVES AND THE VARIOUS POINTS MADE.

Summary: Shambhala may help one to live life to the fullest.
Review: Chogyam Trungpa's book, Shambhala : The Sacred Path of the Warrior, is a must-read, especially in light of the tragedy in Rwanda and the embarrassment of the Canadian army in Somalia. We must endeavor to overcome old ways that do harm to the way of the warrior, and practise the bright shining path that is the Shambhala path. Chogyam's words are best not read once, but many times until his words are lived out. This book is recommended reading for anyone who wishes to understand the true path of warriorship in times of peace.

Summary: The Sacred Warrior - Purity of Heart, Nobility of Soul
Review: Enlightening ! Full of Wisdom ! Buy It ! Make a Difference ... for your self ... and for society ! This book was first given to me by a Tibetan Master, Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, in 1985 when I asked him about Shambala (the enlightened society). Jamgon Kongtrul was a living example of compassion and wisdom. Even though he did not know me as I was just one among one a crowd, he immediately gave me this enlightening book. Since then, I have been buying it and giving it to many people. It is his legacy. (Trunpa and Jamgon comes from the same Tibetan Buddhist lineage.) This book is not about following a religious dogma or path. It is about how to live a dignified and meaningful human existence. The sacred warrior is not only brave and honorable but gentle and kind at the same time. The sacred warrior do not live in a world of deceit and superficiality. She or he is a geniune human being who is always considerate to others and her/his environment. Trungpa says that the bravest warrior is the one who can open her/his heart to others and wears no masks nor armor to hide her/his weakness. We all have the inherent potential to be sacred warriors. And by doing so, we will help contribute to make the world a better place to live in. Trunpa says that instead of trying very hard to change other people, our society, our families, and situations, we should first change ourselves and our negative attitudes first. It is only when we change our innermost selves and our myopic views of life that we can make a difference and geniunely help transform our society to a better place to live in. When we choose to be sacred warriors, that will be our lifelong existentialist quest. Be prepared for a new way of living human existence.

Review: Follow the advice in this book and you too will find a path of sanity through our chaotic times. Trungpa's warrior posses a gentle heart and finds strength in kindness instead of anger and hatred. By showing you the sacredness of the simple things in life, Trungpa leads you through the confusing and conflicting jungle of our Western ego-centric society towards true enlightenment.

Summary: Wise words greatly needed now
Review: I read this book for the first time in the early eighties on a flight to Dallas via San Antonio, San Marcos and Austin (cheapest ticket). It was not my first contact with Eastern Philosophy. I attended several TM classes as a senior in high school and had always been very interested in Tibet and Buddhism.

This book can alter your life. It is deceptively simple. How to live an honorable life without the violence that we are so accustomed to. I have read it numerous times and given away all of my copies. During the years I have had several books on my shelf that Chogyam wrote and never read them. It seemed to be enough just to have them there sitting on the shelf radiating his wisdom out to the world from my bookshelf. Silly, I know but my heart was opened, moved and changed by the wisdom contained in just this one book. Working in a giant communications company and living in the southwest tail of the bible belt offered many, many opportunities to test and apply what I had absorbed from this book. Combined with a weekly fix of New Dimensions I set about trying to live my life from the wisdom contained. It was and still is a wonderful experience.

For those who have a difficult time in separating the message from the messinger you might try reading "The Essential Crazy Wisdom" by Wes Nisker.

Chogyam was a great gift to America - wisdom that is desperately needed in today's times.
