Review: Baseball fans will come flocking to this book! The author takes you inside what could be called one of the defining teams in baseball history. I am not sure however,why anyone could write anything negative about "The Promise". I found it to be full of postive and memorable insights, instead of more tabloid garbage. This is a true prize for the baseball historian.

Review: I am a great Baseball fan and always fasinated by Dimaggio. When I strated reading the reviews I read the review by mr. davis critising the author for not revealing dimaggios flaws. I read the book and loved it It was about a boy who received a gift from Dimaggio. Dimaggio showed kindness to the then batboy and that is what the author wrote about nothing more. The author paints a picture of a baseball hero who kept his promise. IT IS A BOOK ABOUT THE BATBOYS INTERACTION WITH HIS HERO NOT YOURS MR. DAVIS AND THAT IS TOO BAD FOR YOU. THIS BOOK SHOULD BR READ BY EVERY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT.

Review: i read mr crrieris first book- searching for heroes-the quest of a yankee batboy. it was a great book about the yankees in the 50s. joe dimaggio the promise is about following dimaggio for three years to learn his secret of success. while dimag reveals his philosophy i thought his character was shown when he gave carrieri his game bat and kept his promise.,

Review: joe dimaggio: the promise was a great book. the author draws you back to a time when baseball was at a zenith and truly became the national past time. aside from the historical players like williams, robinson, dimaggio; there is a young boy, joe, who becomes the yankee batboy. because he was part of the yankee family, it provided him with an opportunity to talk to some of the greatest ballplayers of that time. he not only sets out on a personal endeavor to learn what makes great players so great. those true lessons of life, cultivate him into the person he is now.

Review: my name is dean and i live in farmingdale---- about two months ago Mr. Carrieri appeared a Borders book store and spoke about his experiences as Yankee Batboy in the 50s---- his eperiences were fastinating. His hero was Joe Dimaggio wh kept his promise to young joe and Joe Carrieri kept his prmise to the reeaders who share his love of the game. Dimaggio may not have been a hero to everyone but he was a hero on the field and that was the focus of the story. The writing was clean and the read fast----I loved it.
