Summary: the basketball player's bible
Review: From a dad who has worked with sons and their friends for many years and coached at the junior high level, and having a library of books on teaching fundamental basketball skills to youngsters, I can truthfully exclaim that this is absolutely the best coverage of the subject I have ever read and used. If you are a father with no background in basketball whatsoever and want to help your boys develop proper skills in every phase of the game, you will not find an easier, yet more comprehensive method of not only teaching, but learning the "nitty gritty" basics of individual player skills. The principles are broken down to the simplest forms, accurately defined and illustrated such that anyone can understand and easily learn all phases of offensive and defensive moves and techniques, developed so beautifully from basic to advanced levels for each skill. I took my teenager to Philadelphia for a clinic by the author and was surprised to find as many coaches as youth attending! A friend and I brought him to our hometown for a local clinic, which was outstanding. The author manages to easily impress otherwise inattentive youngsters with such interest, that one can actually see them begin to combine the techniques and rapidly progress. However, one can simply read this most excellent coverage of the entire subject and derive the same benefits, it is so well written and illustrated.
Another reviewer indicated disappointment in finding that it was recommended that one should practice the principles outlined in the book in pairs or with a coach or dad. However, he or she would have certainly found a great advantage in doing so, since this form of teaching/monitoring/learning is a basic fundamental of education, in sports as well as school. It was a joy to actually understand all the principles so easily from this special manual, see my sons and their friends improve so impressively, and move from the end of the bench to starting positions. After devouring this terrific book, one can watch professional or college ball on TV and really appreciate the expertise with which Sidney Goldstein has made such a fast-moving, complicated sport become a reality for your boys and girls. (and, frankly for dads, moms and coaches at all levels)
Thankyou, Sidney Goldstein!

Summary: This book was ok.
Review: This book gives you many drills to improve your basic skills but most of the drills take more than one person and they didn't really work for me.
