Rating: Summary: AN ABSOLUTE MUST FOR PANTHER FANS!!! Review: "Tales from the Carolina Panthers Sideline" is a must for fans of the Carolina Panthers and fans of the NFL in general. Scott Fowler, who is a mainstay in the Charlotte Observer sports section, skillfully recaps the magical 2003 Carolina Panthers super bowl season. Using a unique style, Fowler re-creates the 2003 season, and also takes a trip back into the sometimes checkered past of the Franchise. Fowler, who co-authored the
fantastic 1997 book "Year of the Cat" recapping the second season of the franchise, has worked his magic once again. I had the pleasure of attending a pair of Panther home games in 2003, including the playoff win over the Cowboys. "Tales from the Carolina Panthers Sideline" makes me feel like I attended all of the games.

Rating: Summary: A true behind-the-scenes look Review: As a die-hard Panthers fan and Jake Delhomme fan living in Canada, I knew I had to have this book. I wasn't disappointed after reading it in one sitting - I couldn't put it down.
Fowler's writing style is perfect for conversations over beer and wings with other football fans - Fowler shares short bursts of inside information all organized neatly into sections about either your favourite player or historical season through to last year's Superbowl trip... perfect for sharing "did you know" stories with your football buddies, Panther fans or not.
The stories are amusing (three words... Delhomme. Karaoke. Hilarious...), insightful (just who IS Steve Smith), unprecedented (the story behind THAT Rams game) and even humbling (detailing Sam Mills' and Mark Fields' bouts with cancer).
This book is a must-have for Panther fans and fans of any team will enjoy it too. It is a true behind-the-scenes look into the players you've grown to love every Sunday and I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Everyone should have a copy Review: I got this book for christmas, and it didnt take me long to find out this was my favorite present. After reading just a few stories, I was hooked. I am a HUGE Jake Delhomme fan, and i even have my own website ( www.cajunpride.cjb.net ). And if you love Jake Delhomme, Steve Smith, or any of the fabulous cardiac cats, you'll LOVE this book. Scott Fowler tells some of the funniest stories you'll ever read in here, and tells everything about the Panthers from the very beginning to the Superbowl last year. Every panther fan should have this book, and it's well worth the money.
Rating: Summary: You don't have to like football.... Review: If I enjoyed this book, you Carolina Panther fans are going to love it. It's not just about the team. There are stories about the individual players - really sweet, poignant stories. And it's a book that you can put down (if you have to) because it's written in relatively unconnected chapters. As Scott puts in his introduction, "Whether you like to read in small sips or big gulps, you should be set."
To those who appreciate malaprops - there's a chapter on one of the Panthers who's as quotable as Yogi Berra. And remember the famous picture of Muhsin Muhammad's shushing the crowd? That story (as well as the picture) is in here.
Scott Fowler makes the players human. After reading this book, when you see one being interviewed you'll think, "Oh yeah. That's the one Scott said...."
Rating: Summary: A book for True Panthers Fans Review: Scott Fowler has done it again. This is a wonderfully written book and an absolute must for any Carolina Panthers fan. Scott takes you inside the Panthers team and organization and shares stories that up until now have never been told. From how the Panther almost got Peyton Manning to the exclusive interview with Sam Mills, Scott keeps the readers attention with this wonderfully written book. From the moment I bought it I could not put it down until I finished it. As a true fan I feel I know so much more now about the team and its players. I highly reccomend it and think that people will be amazed with the stories Scott tells. I cannot remember that last time I read a book I enjoyed more than this one!
Kudo's Mr. Fowler!
Rating: Summary: HAH! And you thought you knew everything about the panthers Review: Well, think again. This book provides readers with an amazing insight on the most memorable football season for carolinians since... ever. Scott Fowler somehow manages to create the perfect way to combine everything you didn't know about the panthers into this book. Each chapter contains seperated ministories by headlines. each one is exciting, and filled with memorable moments, things you don't remember but do after reading about them, and things you never even heard about. it starts off the first 3/4 of the book talking about the cardiac cat season. it then has chapters on sam mills, the 1996 season and "weird stuff". the carolina panthers did something special in 2003. NEVER LOSE THE FEELING.
Rating: Summary: It's like you were on the Sideline with the Panthers!! Review: When I read Scott Fowler's book, Tales From The
Carolina Panthers Sideline, I felt like I was pacing the sideline with the Panthers. Fowler was able to take me to the sidelines and locker room of this exciting and mercurial
team. I have been a faithful reader of Scott Fowler's columns over the years in The Charlotte Observer newspaper and felt certain my personal time devoted to reading this book would
be time well spent, and it was. I feel as though I now know the players, coaches and owner in a way the average fan wishes they could. The journey through the storied 2003-2004 season which
took the Panthers to an appearance in the Super Bowl has been captured by Scott Fowler in such a way that any Panthers fan will want to relive the ride again and again. And with Tales From The Carolina Panthers Sideline, they can. This is a must have for any football fan -- and especially Panther fans!! Enjoy!!
