Rating: Summary: Useful, but not mindblowing Review: Experienced and well-read player will learn little from this slim (though inexpensive) volume; it does make good light reading for the bus or something, and has plenty of good "reminders" in it. However, the real market for this book are novices, and experienced but unread bar players (who, I find, are often unaware of things that well-read players would consider basics, such as using throw to pocket a ball off a fozen combo that isn't aimed quite at the pocket; etc.) It's well-written and concise.

Rating: Summary: Winning with Steve Mizerak's Winning Pool Tips Review: Steve Mizerak's Winning Pool Tips is a perfect tool for someone that wishes to improve their pool skills. This book is not intended however to help an expert fine tune their game. The book starts off with the basics such as grip and stance, and finishes with practice exercises that incorporate all of the skills learned in the book. Because I was already decent at pool, I thought that the first chapters on basic skills would be a waste of time. This however was not the case. I found while reading that I had major flaws in my form, and they were keeping me from getting to the next level. Once I corrected these problems I was able to utilize the more advanced techniques. Although concepts such as English, ball control, and table strategy may seem intimidating to a beginner, Mizerak explains each one in a simple manner. He also uses at least one diagram for each concept that he explains. This not only helps to visualize what he is explaining, it also allows for practice on each. If I did not quite understand something, I would just set up the balls on the table and follow the diagrams. I have read other pool books since reading Mizerak's, and I have found them to be over complicated and confusing. The simplicity and clarity of Mizeraks ideas make this book worth buying. Thanks to Steve Mizeraks Winning Pool Tips, I am not only playing better than ever, but I am winning.
Rating: Summary: Great for beginners Review: What is great about this book is that it covers a little bit of everything. English, left english, bank shots, angles shots & gives helpful drawings that show you where your ball should go. The book is ment to be brief & it is. So it leaves you wanting more. Gives neet excersises you can try.
