Rating: Summary: All the fans STOP at this book Review: I just received this book in the mail today and its got alot of the old columns I've read before, some ones that I had forgotten about, and some ones that I hadn't read yet. They may be new, I don't know. But they're all typical Wilson humor. Here's a list of my favorites from the book:Pickup lines - who hasn't played a game of basketball with the same group that he's talking about? Good work if you can get it - about being a referee. I remember reading this one on the internet and showing it to all my friends. My favorite part of that: the descriptions of the referee wearing the tight black pants. They ALWAYS wear these. Spelling for Dummies - there's no exaggeration needed here. Watching football players on the Wheel of Fortune is hilarious in its own right. Tecmo Super Bowl - I remember playing this game in college. Bo Jackson was by far the best player on that game, or any video game for that matter. All of the impersonations - The big fat Greek story, the Groundhog day story, the Johnnie Cochran story (probably my favorite), and of course the Suzy, Jaws and Merrill story. SJM even do the intro to the book, which is an added bonus. Overall, its a great book. Anyone who is a fan of his articles would enjoy the book.
Rating: Summary: Fanstop at the best Review: I read Wilson every week on fanstop.com and enjoy ALL his articles!!! I'm not even all that big of a fan of the NBA but even those articles are hilarious. I bought this book as soon as I heard it was for sale. There are 68 stories in the book, divided into 7 chapters: Boxer Briefs - stories about his childhood Full Briefs - stories about things going on in sports Hip Breifs - stories about certain athletes or people in sports High Cut Briefs - more serious stories. The ones about his dad are the best. Bikini Briefs - stories about things going on in sports Drawz - all stories supposedly written by famous people or celebrities. This is probably my favorite chapter. Knickers - stories about things going on in sports With the exception of the High Cut chapter, all of the stories will make you crack up. Even the serious ones contain a few laughs, while the ones that are supposed to be funny truly are. Just a great read that I would recommend to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Wilson at his best Review: I'm a big fan of sports and of humor columnists, but tire of ESPN's constant catch-phrase-ism and horrid attempts at humor. Of course, if I want sports news, I have to watch ESPN or visit ESPN.com, but when it comes to my entertainment, Fanstop.com is far and away more readable. Wilson is my preferred writer there, and I since his columns never disappoint, I decided to order this book. It didn't disappoint either. I recognized many of the articles in the book and enjoyed reading them all again, as well as the new ones I hadn't read before ordering the book. To all the Fanstop.com readers, this is a must buy. And anyone who tires of Sportscenter's childish anchors should purchase this book as well.
Rating: Summary: I'm in tears Review: I'm in tears reading this book, laughing so hard. Pure comical genius. Quality stuff.
Rating: Summary: ndarn funny Review: okay, the book is great. i just keep cracking up from reading the article called "spelling for dummys xxx dummies." the wheel of fortune gag was dope and the redskins ball coach calling ifeanyi ohalete "IO, as in IOU playing time" is just mad funny. the rest of the book is just as goon and worth your reading time. out
Rating: Summary: i just crawled out sweetum's bleeeeeeep Review: that's from the muppet column. hilarious. okay first off, the cover is tight ... balls in briefs ... the insides are great too. ive read most of these before, but they're all worth reading again. good stuff
Rating: Summary: 'Youngerts', be prepared to laugh! Review: That's right, starting at the first of the book up until the last page, you're gonna laugh. Most of the columns are either football or basketball, but there are some topics that deal with other sports. "Pitcher Perfect" is off the rack. He talks about playing little league baseball and people seeing his Batman underwear underneath his uniform pants when pitching. Anyone who doesn't laugh at that story needs to have something checked. The rest are just as funny, though with a surprising bit of sentimentality in the chapter titled "High Cut Briefs." The rest of the book will make you hurt from laughing so much. Definitely 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Great Read! Review: There are a few good sports-writers around but I always get dried ink on my hands from their columns. Chris is different. His wit and facetious charm can be found "in the net" as well as in this book. Come on, give the kid a chance; it's a Great Read!
