Summary: A book dealing with the emotional trauma a tragedy may cause
Review: Sorry for sounding so snotty up above. I was just touched by Michael's gallantry and how he tries to make peace with Jenna's family by helping them mysteriously around the house and with their lives. A good story with the perfect character traits for each person. There I go again! O.K., I'll get to the point. It was good because everything in the story fit in with excellent characters to match. There. not perfect, but better. DONE!! Signed, ME MARIE

Review: Swallowing Stones by Joyce McDonald was a chilling reality of the effects guns can have even when they aren't intentionally used to kill. Michael MacKenzie a 17 year old receives his grandfather's Winchester rifle on Fourth of July. ...This book will keep you hooked as you try and figure out if Michael is going to do the right thing by confessing or whether he will be caught.

Summary: Swallowing Stones:a book for everyone
Review: The book Swallowing Stones is about a seventeen year old boy named Michael and his surrounding life. On Michael's senenteenth birthday, he carelessly shoots a bullet into the sky, and unknowingly kills a man. When he finds out a man was killed on the same day as he shot the bullet and about the same time, Michael knows it was his bullet. He feels horrible and guilty, and thinks about telling the truth, but his buddy Joe convinces him not to. Throughout this book MIchael tries to enjoy a normal summer and have fun, but this knowledge is slowly eating away at him. As the police get close and closer to finding out the person who is responsible, Michael considers turning himself in. He does not want to because that would ruin his future, and all he has worked for. Then Michael finds himself seeing Jenna, the dead man's daughter, almost everywhere he goes. He thinks that Jenna is on her way to figuring out it was him. Michael's friends and family notice the way he is always withdrawn and not the same as he use to be, but they don't guess the truth. This story shows the thoughts and ways this distraught boy thinks. I would recommend this book because it is very interesting, and many people have enjoyed this book greatly. Most teenagers can relate with the teenagers in this story, and that makes it enjoyable. When you read this book, you will be hooked to it, and will not want to stop reading until you are finished.

Summary: Swallowing Stones-a great book
Review: The book Swallowing Stones was one of the best books I've ever read. I could not put it down. I never would have read it unless my teacher had not suggested a few books to my class. Swallowing Stones was one of those books that when she read the back cover, I knew that I wanted to read it right away. I then got the book from my teacher and couldn't put it down. I read it in one week because it was so good. It's about a boy who gets a gun from his grandfather. The boy Micheal, throws a party at his house, and he wanted to show the gun off to a few friends. He did but he also shot it. A mile away the bullet hit a man who was fixing the roof of his house. The man was dead. That next week he saw an article in the newspaper about the dead man. He felt guilty for the rest of the summer. There is a lot more that happens, but you have to read the book to find out.

Summary: Swallwing stones
Review: The book Swallowing Stones, by Joyce McDonald, is an inspirational, yet heartbreaking book about a young boy, who accidentally kills the father of one of his schoolmates. He struggles within himself and with his friend trying to decide what to do, hide and save himself or turn himself and get rid of the guilt. In my opinion the book was very good and even educational. You will learn about character of people, the character of yourself, and the difference between right and wrong.
While reading this book you feel anywhere from happy to sad to curious. This book keeps your emotions flowing and you keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time you are reading it. You also will be able to relate to many if not all of the characters. You might be able to relate to not being able to tell the truth or even just knowing someone that did something wrong but can't tell the truth.
This book is written in a way that it goes back and fourth between Michael, "the murderer", and Jenna, the victim's daughter. This technique makes the book more interesting and heightens the excitement. The author also makes good use of symbolism. She uses symbols, such as the weather, to tell what is going on or what might go on next. The symbols are a good way to predict or better understand what is happening. I enjoyed the way and format that this book was written. I will definitely look into McDonald's other works and consider reading them. I hope her other book are as good as Swallowing Stones was.
This book also makes you keep reading. You never want to set this book down while reading it because you just want to fin out what happens at the end. You are just not satisfied until you finish the book. Trust me the ending is worth it too. I guarantee that you will be hanging until the very end.
I would recommend Swallowing Stones to anyone who would like to read a good book. This would be a good book for anyone. No matter what age you are it will keep you entertained. You will find this book exciting, sad, and even at sometimes funny.
The reader will be reading in suspense of the ending. You won't want to set the book down once. The reader will be excited about getting to the ending and he or she will keep reading. While reading the reader will also learn life lessons such as responsibility and honesty.
Another thing that I liked about the book was that I, or anyone foe that matter, could relate to the characters in the book. Everyone has done something wrong and had trouble admitting to it or telling the truth. Michael is not the only character in the book that the average teenager could relate to. People could also relate to Joe, knowing someone that did something wrong but not being able to tell the truth. People could even relate to Jenna, in the way of losing a close relative and struggling to find themselves or trying to deal the loss and everything that comes with losing a loved one.
The book Swallowing Stones is a great read for anyone. It can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages, from 10 to 50. This book will keep you enthused, entertained, and sitting on the edge of you seat. You will never want to set the book down and you will want to read Swallowing Stones over and over and over again. This book is a great investment of money no matter what kind of book you prefer. Go out get this book, for only five dollars you will get a book you will enjoy for the rest of your life.

Summary: Swallowing Stones
Review: The Fourth of July is suppose to be a festicve day withfirecrackers going off and people ohhing an awing at them. ForMicheal and Jenna this day would be the day that would change their lives forever. Micheal had receives a gun for his birthday and ran to the woods to try it out. With his best friend, Joe, at his side he pulled the trigger. Four blocks away Jenna was talking on the phone and watching her dad fix the roof. Within moments her dad is at her feet, dead from a bullet wound to the head. The events that follow carry suspense, drama, and sentimental feelings. I really enjoyed this book because I like suspense and drama. There was also a little romance in the book, just enough to be innocent and sweet. It is the type of book that you couldn't put down even if you wanted to. You couldn't wait to see what happens next to Micheal and Jenna and all the other characters mixed in the plot. The only thing that annoyed me was that the ending was not as fulfilling as I would have like it to be. Altogether I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense-drama book.
