Rating: Summary: Scribbler of Dreams, GREAT Review: In Scribbler of Dreams by Mary E. Pearson, Deborah Halverson, two young teens fall in love but are caught in family troubles! The only problem is Bram Cruthfeild doesn't know that she is a Malone. And the Malone's and Cruthfields were born to hate each other. This mad love story goes spinning out of controls when Kate the main character gets wrapped in lies. And finds out that truth hurts! This book is a great romance, full of lies and love. I would recommend this book to young adults.
Rating: Summary: Romeo&Juilet-with a twist. Review: I don't pride myself on being a cry baby-but by the end of this book, my vision was so clouded with tears, I could barely read. Scribbler of Dreams is one of the best young adult books ever published. It's believable and compelling-you won't be able to put it down until you've read the very last word. Kait Malone hates the Crutchfields-she was brought up to believe they were all liars, low lifes, and scum bags. But her world, along with all her beliefs, shatters when she falls in love with one. But the hatred betweeen the two families runs deep, and there's no "forgive and forget"-not even for love. Is Kait just like Juilet-doomed to an inevitible tragic fate? If you only read one book this year-read this one.

Rating: Summary: a very good book Review: When i first saw this book i thought "it is supposed to be like romeo and juliet so it should be good." Well it was more than good it was fantastic. It is about a girl named Kaitlin Malone who is raised to hate the Crutchfields and boy named Bram Cruthfield who is raised to hate the Malons. A long line of their families have hated eachother and it turns that it all is one big misunderstanding. Anyways when Kaitlin has to go to a new school on the Crutchfield land she is furious until she meets a nice boy who is always drawing outside at lunchtime. She falls in love with him and looks forward to seeing him at lunch every day.... that is until she finds out that he is a Crutchfield. She doesn't know what to do. He is so nice. How can he be one of the evil Crutchfields? It turns out that the more she gets to know Bram and his family, the more she realizes that everything she has been taught about them is wrong. Kaitlin finds herself lying to Bram and her family in hope that she can still be with him. But there are so many ways he could find out who she is...... how will she ever be able to keep her name a secret until she gets enough courage to tell him the truth???
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Scribbler of Dreams is an AWESOME book! I just couldn't put it down! I read it in about 3 hours. The story is about two families- The Malones and the Crutchfields. Well, really it is about two of the kids. Kaitlin has just transferred from a small private school to a huge school owned by her family's age-old enemies- the Crutchfields. Kaitlin has to go by a different last name for now since her father is in jail for invoulantary manslaughter of one of the Crutchfields. She is at school and during lunch one day she goes to the courtyard. There she meets a boy named Bram. They start talking eventually and fall in love but she tells him that her last name is Hampton (that is her fake last name) just so that he won't reject her because she is a Malone. ( he is a Crutchfield) Soon she gets caught up in a tangled web of lies and she feels trapped. If you want to know more... read the book! I'll just say that this was one of the best books I have ever read and I absolutely could not put it down. It makes you laugh, cry, gasp. It is written so that you feel her pain and feelings. JUST READ IT!!! lol
Rating: Summary: The Best Book I've Ever Read Review: This book was bound to be my new favorite from the get go. Mrs. Pearson's words wrap you up into a beautiful story of love, betrayal,, trust, future, and most importantly, past legacies. The story of the Malone's vs. the Crutchfield's is as timeless and classic as any old world novel. It's theme is not only that of loving, but of letting go of hate, not only learnin to trust, but of seeing through the lies. From Maggie's mistake, to Kait's web of deciet, the women in the novel are strong and their road to destruction is paved with good intentions. Bram is Kait's gateway into the frobidden world of the Crutchfield family, and as she enters she realizes "they" aren't the evil monster's she imagined. And as she finally learns that the past must be let go of, and that her life is built upon a lie, Bram learns that love is stronger than hate, and that two people are not only a beginning, but an entire future. You will enjoy every ounce of ink that is typed into these pages, as much as you will enjoy the intense emotions that relate so closely to everday life. If you can only pick one book of the shelves, I highly recommend that this is the one you choose.
Rating: Summary: Lessons learned Review: To put it into simple terms, this is a modern day Romeo and Juliet story. However, unlike the boring version that some are forced to read, it is a book of romance, hate, misery, and occcasional happiness, that people would actually enjoy reading. However, I believe that the most important thing to understand from this book is...well you have to read the book to find out. The story begins with Kait Malone, who ends up going to a public schooled owned by her sworn enemy, the Crutchfields, because her family cannot pay the school tuition. At first she has no friends, is teased by boys, and has what people would call a high school nightmare. That was until she met Bram Crutchfield. If course, she didn't discover that he was infact a Crutchfield until it was too late. It began with an innocent drawing done by the ever so gifted Bram, which stole Kait's heart in an instant. She immediately identified herself as Kait Hampton, trying to hide her identity, in order to keep what she had between Bram and her. Even as their relationship grew, Kait knew that there would always be guilt for lying to Bram. And yet, her love for him could not bring herself to tell the truth. However, as it goes in any story, no secret remains a secret forever.
Rating: Summary: Wow. Review: Speechless. That's how I was when I finished reading this book. I was surprised and awed at the beauty and power of this book. Not only did the message get through, it was done in such a way that your attention never wavers. This is one of the most stunning pieces of romantic literature I have ever encountered. The fact that it was inspired by one of the most beloved works ever- Shakespeare's classic Romeo & Juliet- should tell everyone to allow Shakespeare to inspire them. He works wonders. Anguish, teen angst, forbidden romance, disobedience of one's parents, misunderstandings, guilt, mounting lies...this book covers the bases. Regret is a big part of the book. As Maggie Crutchfield, one of the characters in the book, said: "...Regret holds me in its biting jaws. I feel the teeth sinking in, wishing I could retrace my steps to start my journey afresh, but the teeth sink deeper and my foolish wishes cannot help me escape Regret's bitter hold." You will thoroughly enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: The best Review: I hate to read books! I really do but this book is so great that I could read it over and over again. The author makes you feel like you are standing there and watching everything that happens in this book. This book shows that when you're not looking for love it will come to you and that after a thuderstorm there is always a rainbow!!
Rating: Summary: A romance for sure... Review: I am not a big fan of romances, but I read this book anyway, hoping to find some substance weaved in with the romance. And I did. "Scribbler of Dreams" tells the story of Kaitlin Malone, whose family has held a bitter rivalry with the Crutchfields for a hundred years. The Malones hate the Crutchfields, and the Cruthfields hate the Malones. Kaitlin's father is sent to jail for the murder of a Crutchfield, forcing her to switch schools and enroll under a false last name. Kaitlin is determined to hate the school (which is built on land owned by the Crutchfields) until she meets Bram and falls madly in love with him. Then she finds out the horrible truth: Bram is a Crutchfield, and Kaitlin's father killed his. She is too afraid of losing him to tell him the truth, so she lies again and again. But as many lies do, hers fall apart and jeopardize her relationships with her family and Bram. This book is obviously meant for sentimentals and romantics. I am neither. But I enjoy a good story, and this wasn't bad. Kaitlin's journal is excerpted throughout the story, and while her writing is beautiful, it seemed too flowy and poetic to be real. For the Romeo-and-Juliet romantic elements, this book rates highly. For reality and contemporary aspects, it's only fairly good.
