Summary: Better Than the First
Review: "In the Hand of the Goddess" was better than the first book in the series. However, readers younger than twelve should probably wait to read this one. There was quite a bit of subject matter that anyone younger than teens probably shouldn't read. It's not very graphic, but still... I had wanted Alanna and Jonathan to fall in love, but I was just hoping for innocent smooching, not some of the stuff they do (sleeping together, etc.)It would be more enjoyable for teens than young children.

Summary: EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST
Review: I love the second book of this quartet evn better than the first. I didn't think that was even possibel after i read the first. Alanna, now squire to the Prince, finds herself facing her fears with new determination. More is revealed about Alanna, the books heroine, in this book. DAnger constantly finds its way to Alanna and her friends. New characters are created. READ IT!

Summary: Parents Please Think Before Introducing your Child to this s
Review: On the advice of my husband, who read the Amazon review of this series I bought this book for our 11 year old daughter. It was in the children's book section at our local chain bookstore. She loved the first one, we ran out to get the next three, and lo and behold, before she got too far into the second book the protagonists are involved in a sexual relationship.My daughter was shocked and upset - she's not ready for this. So I have read the other three books and will not be giving them back to my daughter for several years. The sexual relationships are not graphic, but they do figure into the plot and the are part of young Alana's journey to adulthood. My advice to parents: think about what your child is emotionally ready for, and think about what you are ready to discuss with your child before you introduce him or her to this series. My feeling is that they belong in the young adult section, not the children's. I would recommend this for kids over 15, 16 would be better. They will better understand Alana's struggles, confusion, choices and the pull of sexuality better than the younger ones. My daughter agrees that parents should introduce this series thoughtfully, she isn't traumatized, just bugged by the introduction of sex into an otherwise enjoyable story.

Summary: it's all words that can complement a book!!!!
Review: read my title then you have read my review. this book is the best book out of this seires! it starts off with curses from Alana which from right off the bat make you start laghing! not only does she get her kighthood, but she also starts ACTING like a GIRL!!!! this book, i think, is the funniest one too! you'll find yourself laughing out loud! at some of the things Alana says about girl things.

Summary: Lovely
Review: First off: I love Tamora Pierce, as a general rule. However, now and again, everyone gets a little off track. For instance, Emperor Mage, the third book in the Immortals Series. But that isn't the point! The point is, every single book in the Lioness Quartet is a good read! Alanna is a positive role model, yes, but she's also someone who people can just identify with. So maybe we don't all disguise ourselves as boys and run off to the capital to be knights...but who hasn't at some point in their life wanted to be someone they weren't? And this book is probably the best in the series. It is a turning point -- Alanna begins to become more comfortable with herself, she immediately pulls forward in every way. However, the fact that I consider this the best book in no way, shape or form means that the others aren't all wonderful! Read them all! Go! Now! I urge you to read them all!

Review: In the Hands of the Goddess by Tamora Pierce is a fast paced and exciting book. It is a worthy sequel to the first book in the series Song of the Lioness. You could not pick a more appealing character than Alanna. She is headstrong and independent, taking no orders from anyone she an ideal heroin. We join her near the end of her training to become the first warrior maiden in over 100 years. She has to deal with her disguise as a boy so that no one will find out that she is truly a girl and send her home. In this book she as to learn to confront her fears, while all the time learning to except the fact that she is truly a female. You build a stronger tie to the characters first introduced in the first book, The First Adventure. To understand In the Hands of the Goddess you have to have first read this book. You feel a strong connection to this fiery young girl. Her struggles soon become yours as you live through her and learn the difficulties that come when she tries to hold in her true identity and fight off her one true enemy. She must do all this while trying to understand whom she is and what she means to the friends that she has made. ...

Summary: A Shame...
Review: I was dissapointed that the author had to put in the parts where Alanna had sex. What happened to "I promised myself I would never love a man"?! A kiss would have been enough. Parents, think before intoducing this sick material to your children. I hate to think what girls might think if it is all right to have sex when unmarried. Otherwise, this is an wonderful book. I was impressed with the plot. It was well written.

Review: This book is probably my favorite out of the three I've read so far. It's very romantic and intellegently written. If you haven't read The Song Of The Lioness series, or the Immortal series, you are missing alot.

ANYWAY THIS BOOK IS THE BOOK WHERE THE KING FINDS OUT THE TRUTH ABOUT ALLANA-A BOY DRESSED AS A GIRL IN ORDER TO BECOME A KNIGHT. HOW DO THEY FIND THIS OUT? Summary: great book for young adults NOT children
Review: The Song of the Lioness set was thrilling. Tamora Pierce made twisted plots as well as the love rectangle (three guys). Perfect blent of action, values, romance. Alanna proves herself to be just as good as the guys. The only negative is that in the first book she discovers what a period is and in the other books she sleeps with more than one man all before she marries. For younger girls that have not been exposed to this content this is a startling way to find out. It may disturbe them. I read these books when I was 13 and was suprised (not traumatized for life). Make sure you or your child can handle this book. If you really want a book that shows girls can do anything guys can, read the Protector of the Small series by Tamora Pierce. They have not all been published but as far as I know there IS romance but no slepping with men. This series is just as thrilling but with less magic. If you want more magic try the Circle of Magic books, also by Tamora Pierce. It is all about magic, and adventure, but no romance.
