Rating: Summary: Too Cute - No Substance Review: Honestly, this book is in love with its own cuteness. Not only is it tiny (yes, you get very little physical book for the money), it just isn't very helpful. I purchased this book as a graduation gift earlier this year, and decided not to give it. The pages are filled with absolute drivel. I bought an entire set of how to survive college books as part of a gift basket. The better books (in no particular order) would include: (All are available from Amazon.com) * Confessions of a College Freshman (ISBN: 1589196600 ) - a good solid read with heart felt advice. * College 101: The Book Your College Does Not Want You To Read (ISBN: 0966412206) The fact that college professionals panned it - should tell you something -- it is HONEST. Not to mention downright hilarious. The author holds back nothing! A very insightful author reveals the dirt on higher education. * Been There, Should've Done That (ISBN: 0965608611) - just honest to goodness truth and common sense. Good practical advice, and well thought out. It is a quick, easy, but well worth reading book.
Rating: Summary: Avoid this book Review: Do yourself a favor and get yourself a real college hand book like "College 101 : The Book Your College Doesn't Want You to Read" instead of this one. "101 Things a College Girl Should Know" could have been written on a cocktail napkin, and probably was. The kinds of advice given here can be given better and cheaper as advice from a grandmother or mother, and probably ARE given better and cheaper by both grandmothers and mothers. While I'll give the book cute, it isn't $5.00 worth of cute, and when you go to college, cute isn't really what you need. You need facts. "College 101 : The Book Your College Doesn't Want You to Read" will give you those facts. This book, while giving you a few laughs will drain your pocket and leave you unprepared to face college.
Rating: Summary: cute book, but... Review: This is a really cute book, but upon opening it the disappointment was great. It reminds me of those 101 things to do in a bathroom type of lists that are passed around in emails; the advices were THAT short and many were common sense, about 10 advices in the book actually were helpful but those would easily have been found in other books. If you're looking for a college prep guide, don't waste your money. If you just want a cute book to give as presents, then by all means...
Rating: Summary: What a great gift. Review: I've been to nine graduation parties this spring and I've found the perfect gift: Stephabie Edwards's book. Now heading into fall, I'm considering sending it to those college-bound relatives and family friends who I didn't get to visit.
It's Life 101 for the college-bound. The college newbies' bible.
My only problem with the book is its frank truthfulness: it's great for women. Though it's a sound, smart read for men as well, I'm hoping Ms. Edwards can get to work on a similar title for glossy-eyed male college newcomers too -- God knows I certainly needed it.

Rating: Summary: Cute alternative to greeting card! Review: Great little gift book. For a dollar or two more than a greeting card this little book was perfect to drop in the mail after receiving different graduation annoucements. Or to tuck a graduation check into like I did. Concise, cute and worth the 5 bucks.

Rating: Summary: cute, but a waste of money Review: This tiny little book has one "thing a college girl should know" on each page. The advice is certainly not groundbreaking, but it is rather fun to read. The only problem is that, as each page contains only one sentence, the book can be read in about five minutes. To me, five minutes of reading are not worth the $5 price. If you are looking for a book to help you out in college, or need a high school graduation present for someone, may I recommend the much more complete and valuable "The Real Freshman Handbook" by Jennifer Hanson or "College Survival" by Greg Gottesman and Daniel Baer.
Rating: Summary: Great Tips! Review: This book shares tips I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. The fun and personal style makes it easy and enjoyable to read. If you like this book, you'll love "Major in Success", by Patrick Combs.
Rating: Summary: Disappointingly slim volume of rather obvious hints Review: A bit of a waste of time really. The tips offered are rather obvious and not particularly insightful. Not much content.
