Summary: Oh, gosh! What did Paulsen do to this one????
Review: I'm sorry to all of those who loved this book. But personally, I thought this book was not exactlly the best. The symbolism all boiled down to the same thing. The story didn't move. There wasn't any main theme that made the plot more bearable. This is one of the only books I ever put down and never picked up again to finish.

Rating: 4 stars

Hatchet

This is a beautifully written story about a 13 year old city boy named Brian. Brian's parents get divorced because of "the secret". He is going to visit his father on a plane but the pilot has a heart attack! Brian tries to fly the plane but crashes in to the lake! He swims to the surface gasping for air. He weakly crawls to shore and gets attacked by a HUGE swarm of mosquitoes. He barely manages to get away from them and find shelter in a rock overhang. To survive he knew he needed food so he built wepons like spears, snares and a bow and arrow. To get fruit he follows a flock of birds, to a berry tree, the berries have a bitter flavor but he kept eating pits and all. He got sick that night. Luckly he finds a patch of raspberries. He ate and ate, A huge grizzly bear came a long. A couple of days later a tornado comes and hits the lake! it stirred the plane so that the tip of its tail was showing. He thought of the surival pack, he would rather have that than $1,000,000,000!Will he get the surival pack in the plane with the dead pilot or try to surive using just what he has? you have to read the end of this book to find out! Survival and heart break bueatifully merge in this heart warming story! The sequal, The River, is good too!

Summary: Hatchet was a good book, but let me tell you what I thought.
Review: Hey! I am an eighth grader at a school in Italy. I have read the book Hatchet, and I thought it was great! I liked the authors use of imagination. Gary Paulsen is a very creative writer. I enjoyed this book because it was very down to earth. I thought it was excellent concerning how the author went down to pre-teens and adolescent age. Many kids can relate to this book because many have parents that are divorced and can relate to Brian's pain. I really don't have a favorite character because Brian is practically the only character in the book. I admire Brian's actions and how he took care of things. I also admire his confidence and patience. Brian is one of the most courageous character's I have ever read about. I thought the book was great and all, but it wasn't perfect. There were some qualities in the book "Hatchet," that I disliked. I disliked how the author described the scenery too much. I mean, sure, Mr. Paulsen can describe the scenery, but not all that much. It got kind of boring after awhile. I also didn't enjoy how Gary Paulsen said words over and over again. I think it is quite ridiculous how the author kept on bringing up the so-called "Secret," out of the blue. For example, he'd be telling how Brian was scared to fly in the plane, then all of the sudden he would bring "The Divorce," up or "The Secret." He did it throughout the book. But I didn't mind, after all, Gary Paulsen is human. The book "Hatchet,"is a great book that should be read by all. I thought it was fun-filled and exciting. I encourage pre-teens and adolescents to read this book. I could not put this book down. So, if your a person who hasn't read this, I encourage you to.

Summary: Everyone should read this exciting book
Review: I am 13 years old and I have read Hatchet. It was a great book and I enjoyed it a lot. I got the book and read it in 3 hours. It is a great book because it tells about a boy whose plane crashes in the wilderness and he has to survive. Many exciting things happen to him and it is hard to put this book down. I would reccommend it to readers of all ages.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It is the best book I have ever read about adventure
Review: It was so great how he went from having no hope after the crash to believing in himself and using the tools he has created by hand, only using his hatchet to survive. Even after a tornando destroyed everything he had, he rebuilt everything again just like it was from the start. It is a must read, I strongly recomend it. I also highly recomend you read all the sequals.

Summary: Hatchet was OK
Review: Hatchet was a good book. In the beginning it was very boring, but it picked up. I think Gary Paulsen shouldn't spend so much time writing about the scenary. I would recommend this book for school reading.
