Summary: RATS
Review: Kevin Lotito
Title: Rats
Author: Paul Zindel

SUMMARY

This story is about two kids named Michael and Sarah. Michael is ten and Sarah is 14 or 15 years old. They have just moved to Staten Island from somewhere they do not tell you they do say that it was somewhere with the sun shining bright and the smell of the mountains was very converting. Their new house is right next to the Staten Island dump where there have been rat problems for many years. The reason that the book is called RATS is because that's what the book is all about. In the middle of the story something has gone wrong rats had escaped from the dump they lived in and were terrorizing the whole town by doing some nasty stuff by killing them and letting them rot and by a million of them eating someone apart. As the goes on it get worst and they find out the killer rats are heading to New York City and maybe ending Civilization, as we know it. So to find out how they come out trying to be the heroes you're just going to have to read it yourself.

REVIEW

I thought that this book was great it was very exciting and well detailed, it also keep me on my heels the whole timing because I did not know what was going to happen next. My favorite part of the book was at the beginning when the garbage man cleared the town garbage age was ruthlessly attacked and chewed to death.

Recommendations
I think that this book would be great for people who like killing and drama and cant wait for a great ending. This book keeps you waiting till the end and to find out how they come out you have to read to the end. Also I will tell people who like cruel killing and gore to read this book a hundred percent. If you don't like this stuff I am saying then if I was you I would not read this because it would not strike your interest like it did mine.

Summary: Rats: A good example of a horror novel for older students!
Review: Paul Zindel's novel "Rats" is a gruesome, horrific, grisly story about killer rats. They are larger than normal sized rats, because of a chemical reaction at a landfill containing a buildup of methane gas underground. It is up to 15- year ol sarah Macafee and her 10- year old brother Michael to stop them. Zindel who is more widely known for his book "The Pigman", takes this novel to new heights and dimensions. The story is a nightmarish thriller that depicts gigantic rodents graphically devouring people. This book leaves nothing to the imagination! There is endless carnage page after page of gruesome details, numerous descriptions of bodily dismemberment, and jolts of horror. Zindel's style is fast paced and takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of horror. There is never a dull moment in this book. The plot is full of spine tingling, stomach-churning action. This book is a great motivator to get older students to read, adolescent readers will not be able to put this book down. This book is appropriate for children who are 11-14 years of age. This book IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOUNG CHILDREN AT ALL!! Teachers or parents may dislike this book, but students/teenagers (especially boys) will love it.

Summary: Evil Rats Attack
Review: RATS is one of Zindel's goriest books. The action starts alot quicker then in his other books. The plot for RATS is this. In New York City's Staten Island Dump, workers have been killing rats and their babies. One worker named Leroy, finds out in a gruesome death that the rodents will come back at you. After an attack in a kid's swimming pool, Sarah and Mike get down to business. Eventually, the grand rat invasion comes and Sarah and Mike have to stop it.

Summary: Mutant rats threaten New York City.
Review: Sarah's an ordinary teenage girl who must take care of her brother Michael when her dad goes to investigate a series of mysterious deaths. As mutant rats begin to appear all over Staten Island, attacking people, and heading for the city, Sarah realizes everyone's in danger. Obviously, the gore and suspense were the scary things on the surface. But the part that was even more chilling is that this was a possible near future if we don't take care of the environment.
