Rating: Summary: Great! But what happened to Nick and Danny? Review: I know that Nick faked his death, and so he isn't going to be in the books, at least for a while, but Francine never gave us an explanation of how Jess coped with anything or how she got back on her feet. Nick's heroic story has been downplayed to a "hard time for Jess". And what about Danny and Izzy, where did they go? I realize that Iz has no memory, so she can't exactly tell her story, but where did Danny go? To be with Iz, or has the whole situation with DiPalma left him so upset he left school? Overall, this book was great, despite what I just wrote. Don't get the wrong idea . . . Chloe is a great new character to introduce into the series and into Theta House. I love the idea of Jess as "Theta Pledge Chairwoman" and the new Theta government is just "marvelous, darling!" I can't wait for the next books, and I wonder what will happen with Liz and Sam and Todd and Dana! And by the way, what's up with Tom Watts? WSVU to football so suddenly, and no more feelings for Liz?
Rating: Summary: This is a VERY EXZITING book!!!!! Review: I think this story is very fun. Well who would have thought that Nina broke up with Bryan? Or the fact that Jessica, Elizabeth, Sam, and Neil are living together. Totally weird? well you must read it...2 see what happens. Dana is kicked out of her apartment because of Todd......they move in together....well you must read this book.....
Rating: Summary: Much to "adult" Review: I used to love the SVH series, it was semi realistic. Not SVU, because everyone wants to sleep with each other, have affairs, and poor old Jess, she's basically the best charecter in the book, and every time she gets a guy it ends up in divorce or death. As for the girl who said "WE'RE PRETEENS! NOT KIDS!" Well, I'm sorry, but I am twelve- and I strongly feel these books have much to much adult content, and basically, I doubt any ten year old would understand concepts of these books, seems they probably dont even understand what is going on with all the you-know-what and bitter divorces. Personally I think these are for a much older age group then the young teens or preteens, I mean lets take a rundown of events that have happened lately- 1. Elizabeth kissed a guy who had a girlfriend at the end. 2. Elizabeth and Tom had a fight because Elizabeth didnt think she was ready for the "next stage of the relationship" and he went to a bar without absolute PIGS. And Liz fell in love with this guy? 3. Jessica's boyfriend was SHOT 4. Isabella (?) lost her memory after smoking with a guy when she had a boyfriend! OK those are the first ones I think of... honestly Francine and Laurie (?) these books are stuck in a rut. They need some reality! Sorry but I was quite upset that my fave charecters were turning into a bunch of teens that would take any guy that got thrown at them!
Rating: Summary: the best series in the world Review: is sweet valley university. i have never been so sucked into a series-ever. i hate kids books. everyone expects people my age to read dumb stuff about pigs and bunnies and stuff. im a lot more mature than i look! im 10 years old (11 in two days) and i love these books. and i completely understand these books. i guess im writing this to say that girls my age are a lot more mature than we look. AND WERE PRETEENS! NOT KIDS, PRETEENS!
Rating: Summary: Sweet Valley is AWESOME! Review: Sweet Valley is the best books around. Sweet Valley is like another place in reality! I have such strong ties to all the characters. Each one of the people from Sweet Valley seem like an extended family to me. I love to read about their joys and sorrows. Let Sweet Valley live forever in our hearts and soul. Long live Jessica and Elizabeth the queens of being a teen!
Rating: Summary: It's okay... Review: Sweet Valley University has gone for a facelift but the content inside is sadly lacking its former characters and it seems to have not tied up some loose ends. Firstly did Danny get to see Isabella in Switzerland? Is Isabella recovering? Also how did Jessica manage to forget all about Nick?I read Stranded(no 49)and there is absolutely no mention of him.Has she forgotten about him already? I'm also sad to say Denise's and Lila's boyfriends are never mentioned anymore. It looks like they're gone from the series. But as when other characters leave you get some new ones. There is now Sam,a slacker, who moves into the house along with Neil who is also gay. To cover the younger crowd we have Chloe(who acts snobby in quite a few of the books)and her friend Val who is sweet and sincere. The book is about how Jessica and Elizabeth(now 19) get their own house and two housemates(Sam and Neil). Tom changes from reporting to football and Dana and Todd move in together(this doesn't last long). Although the design is tops the book doesn't offer the same cliffhanger endings and excitement. At least they actually write about school now instead of what they do outside of school. I rate it three stars because the story was average and all the good characters have gone.
Rating: Summary: Going downhill....... Review: Talk about a complete and utter letdown to the start of the Junior year. What happened to the old favourites: Izzy, Danny, Denise and the others? It's getting a bit unbelievable that so many couples would break up and disappear. I mean, Nina and Bryan were like glue and now Bryan's supposedly turned into this creep who dumps Nina for another girl. Also, I can't believe that someone supposedly 'dependable' and 'caring' as Liz is would just get over Tom so quickly. It doesn't add up with the character that the writers have created. The new books seem to lack the excitement and suspense as well as humour (Winston being 'Winnie') in the books written about their freshman year. I think this lacks the many plotlines created in College Girls #1. Living Together also tended to focus far too much on the twins rather than other characters. Also, the arrival of Chloe bored me, I'd much rather read about Izzy, Denise and even Alison Quinn! The bickering between Sam and Liz was irritating and predictable and Chloe's lying about her relationship with Tom was an old cliche. Predictable and cliched, although some parts were slightly amusing.
Rating: Summary: Sleepy Review: This book was sooo boring. There's is no metion of any of the old characters.I can't believe Bryan would leave Nina, that's to unrealistic.Jessica is all intent on being good, but that's not her personality.Liz and Sam arguing all the time is annoying.I don't really like Chloe she seems really spoilt,it was really stupid when she made up that Tom Watts was her boyfriend.I can't believe Tom is giving up everything he worked for to be back on the football team.I think Francine Pascal/Laurie John should write a third Lifeguard mini-series.
Rating: Summary: Sweet Valley gets modern at last Review: Well, well, who would have thought Sweet Valley would ever have a main character who was gay? This is a positive thing, but of course ol' Francine can't get away from the stereotypes - he loves dancing and shopping and is caring and sweet. But thank God he's in there! He's much more interesting than the idiot jock characters of Tom, Todd and Danny.
