Rating: Summary: Humor, character,HOLES~ Review: I abosolutely positively loved this book. It was sooooooo interesting. In fact, every one of my friends are reading it and they all love it. It is defidentily worth your money. No wonder it won the John Newberry Medal.
Rating: Summary: This was the best book I've ever read Review: The plot was so cool. It was neat at the end when everything was kind of tied it a little box with a bow tie. I simply loved the way the book went back and forth fom the past to the present.
Rating: Summary: Comedy, suspense, irony and so much more! Review: I had to read this book in preparation for my comprehensive exam to get my Master's degree. My Young Adult literature teacher told me it was a new book I had to read and analyze. All I can say is I am 23 years old and thought it was wonderful. The plot itself tickled me and then the use of suspense and the characters...I could go on and on. The best part were the connections of the past to present such as "Sploosh" and "Kiss Me Kate". I also loved the irony and how Sachar slipped in issues of race without being didactic about it. After my exam I am giving this book to my 15 year old brother and I know he will enjoy it even more than I did.
Rating: Summary: It is a astounding book with the reader wanting to go on. Review: The Book holes is and awsome book. I suggest that evreyone should read this book young and old. The reader should be reading on after evrey chapter and this book has it. In the first paragraph it brings you in to the story with going on a bus to a Juvenile camp. They have to dig a five foot by five foot hole evrey day. The middle and end is splendid and that makes a book awsome.
Rating: Summary: Excellent read aloud for the middle grades! Review: I am an eighth grade language arts teacher who is constantly looking for good books to read to my students. This one had them hooked. Even my reluctant readers begged for more.
Rating: Summary: It was an awsome book almost my favorite Review: This book was AWESOME read it. Probably my favorite next to a book called the Killer Angels!!!
Rating: Summary: Excuse me - we think you ought to read this book. Review: We are students in Mrs. Keefer's 4/5 multi-age in Tempe, AZ.We are NOT a Girl Scout Camp! We are a group of kids that loved reading Holes much more than digginbg them like Stanley had to. The descriptive language and cliffhangers kept us on the edge of our seats. We give this book a mountain size thumbs up. The only bad thing about it is that it eventually had to end. Now we have to find a book just as good.
Rating: Summary: I think Holes is a great book. I explain the reasons why. Review: Holes is one of Louis Sacher's greatest books he has ever written. Holes is about an over-weight boy, named Stanley, who finds shoes that belong to a famous baseball player named Clyde Livingston. The problem is that Stanley doesn't know that they belong to Mr. Livingston. Thinking that he stole them as a souvenir, the cops arrest Stanley. The judge gives stanley a choice, either jail or Camp Greenlake. My favorite part is when Stanley stole car a to go look for his friend who ran away from camp greenlake. I would never do that, not even for a family member. What surprised me most is that his best friend is the one who put him in Camp Greenlake. Like his friend said " If I had just kept those shoes niether of us would be here right now."
Rating: Summary: I do not Know why I am typing this. Review: I do not know why I am typing this eather and I have not read this book
Rating: Summary: This book is an awesome read Review: I love this book. I really feel that the author did a great job of making the characters real, I felt like I knew Stanley. I also really liked how the story was so layered, there were many different stories in this one little book. I felt challenged by the book and I am very thankful that I had an opportunity to read it.
