Rating: Summary: This is a fabulous novel about Native American life. Review: Matcheck has created a fabulous novel about Native American life. The young Apsaalook girl is a most determined and dynamic character. The plot of this novel is so authentic and exciting it makes you want to keep on reading. The many experiences she goes through teaches her and the reader many things about life. It is a very real and touching story. This book is one I would consider to be greatly inspiring, especially to the female reader. I would highly recommend this book to any young adult reader. Even though I am not an avid reader of this genre, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Rating: Summary: This book is a very engaging . . .it's awesome. Review: This book is a very fascinating, I love it! It is one of the best books I've read. Believe me, I've read a lot of books! I would recommend this book to female young adult readers . . .especially if you're interesting in Indians, and even if you're not! A great view inside the world of this girl. *****
Rating: Summary: Well, I don't read this genre of books all the time, but Review: this is a good book, however complicating. It's great though. The Apaskalookan(I probabally didn't spell this right) girl had a dead brother, Born-Great. Many of the names on this are not normal. i.e.: Chews-the-Bear, Born-Great (this is almost like the nicknames on Holes). Back to what I was saying. Sorry this review is boring. Anyways, this is a must for many people. The first book from Diane Matcheck I've really read, not my last. There is info about her at the end of this. Book like this that I've read that I actually liked: The Cage. But this is one you can just buy now. Or at least find your first thought by checking this out at the library, before you're dissapointed.
Rating: Summary: Excellent read! Entertainment for all ages. Review: This is one of the most entertaining books I have read in a very long time. I felt as though I was actually living an adventure. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Totally enjoyable! Review: Very absorbing plot with a strong female character. The author creates an authentic portrayal of native American life and the constant struggle for survival. The plot is gripping and fast paced and allows the main character to step out of traditional female roles. Strong literary elements are present with an appropriate ending to the adventure. Great read for adolescents!
