Summary: It was pretty good.
Review: "Everyone stepped out of the wheel house. In front of us was a sheer, rocky wall about 30 feet high. A waterfall poured down from the top. Clinging to the side of the wall was a flock of red and yellow macaws. When they saw the boat, they took off, disappearing into the green canopy surrounding the little lake. Silver checked one of the anchor cables. "It's deep," he said. "It must be some kind of natural sinkhole." (Page 164-165) In the book Jaguar, the author Roland Smith does a great job describing in detail the scenes within the pages. Though it seemed short, it was a very interesting and full of action and facts about countries in Latin America. I especially liked the journey up the river, getting to the reserve. "It was clear that we werent welcome. Men and women with dull, hostile expressions watched us walk by. Most of them had tottoes all over their bodies, including their faces." (Page 129) Though not every person in Brazil fits the description above, many laborers in small muddy towns do look like this. Indians lived separate lives, or at least tried to; most lived on the outskirts of town. "The Indians' living conditions were worse than those in town, which was hard to believe. Despite the heat, peopole huddled near smoking fires to keep insects away. Potbellied children ran around completely naked. I noticed ugly red scars on their legs and arms and asked Fred what they were." (Page 128) The ugly scars ended up being piranha bites from fishing in the water. Just things like this-things I don't usually deal with everyday drew me deeper into the book. Reading about bugs, explosions, and guns usually doesn't interest me, but when you throw nature, a few interesting people, and some compelling issues all in one, you come up with a great book. I would reccomend this book to a variety of young readers, especialy those between 4rd and 6th grade.

Summary: Excitement, Suspensful, Adventurous Book
Review: I am just in the beginning of my book and I am addicted to it! It is about a boy named Jake and his father Doc goes to Brazil to found a jaguar preserve. He stays at his Grandfather's, Taw's, Home. Then, his father gets tickets for Jake to go to Brazil for a week during Spring Break. That's all I got up to so I will leave the rest for you to find out on your own when you read this book. Trust me, it is a must buy. Now I am going to buy Thunder Cave and the Last Lobo because I loved it so much. Very Suspenseful!

Summary: JAGUAR AHHH!!
Review: Jaguar is a very exciting book that will keep you turning pages. It is about a young boy named Jake Lansa. It is a series from the first book, Thunder Cave. Jake's gransfather is a Hopi Indian and his father is a field biologist, Robert, who is called Doc. Doc is helping his best friend, Bill to make a Jaguar reservation. But when the boat mysteriously explodes, it kills Bill and injures Buzz, the pilot for the Jaguar tracking device. Doc decides to create the dream of his best friend with his son and his girlfriend, Flanna (Jake's mother died), along with a strange person named Silver who has a boat ready for them. They reach the reservation spot, and with the help of Raul, an Indian, they track a jaguar mother and her 2 kids. Doc falls ill and a terrorist who knows Silver takes over. It seems that their reservation spot is near a gold mine, and a few like Silver and the captor want to get rich. Flanna killed him and they were safe. If you want the whole story, you should read this great book! You can also read The Last Lobo, which continues from Jaguar.
