Rating: Summary: A Great story for people with low self-esteem!!! Review: Raymonds Run was a inspirational story, which taught me great hope and respect for people with a disorder. Raymond in Raymonds Run had a disorder but that didnt stop him from trying. He kept up with squeaky his sister when she ran, and knew how to breathe when running. I would recomend this story to everyone to read, its great and I hope everyone at one point in time would read it. Thank You, Michelle
Rating: Summary: Derek's review Review: This book is an extremely inspirational one. I can totally understand how squeaky would want to protect her brother Raymond from bullys like Gretchen. i think it's also very cool how squeaky thinks she can teach Raymond to run with that odd style of his.!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Raymond's Run Review: This book tells me that if there is something that I to do then keep on doing it. Squeaky was very protective of her older brother. After she gave up her favorite thing to do to make her brother into a runner it told me that she cared about him and wanted him to have something to show off (a first place ribbon).
Rating: Summary: Raymond's Run Review: This book was very inspiring to me. At first when "Squeaky" was bragging about how she was the best and no one could beat her, I thought she was self-centered. I didn't like the begining. Then as I kept reading I begin to like it and I gained respect for her. She was not afraid of anything, wasn't afraid of Gretchen or her friends. She wasn't afraid of losing because she felt really confident about winning. When the big day came she was very happy and excited. During the race when she was realizing that she should help her brother. He was a good runner like her, and also she wanted to become friends with Gretchen. That was wonderful the way she and Gretchen became friends. They had a mutual understanding that day. I recommend that everyone read this book.
Rating: Summary: This book has a strong message for all young people. Review: This short story is so well written that as I read it I believed that Squeaky was talking to me. Everything she said sounded like a 12-year-old would say it. I could also believe that it could have really happened that Squeaky, a black girl from Harlem, could be a fast runner with a disabled brother who decided to teach her brother how to be a fine runner. Toni Cade Bambera used aggressive and compassionate tones to help the reader realize the change in Squeaky from the bossy beginning to the soft and calm ending. All of this helped the reader to understand that if you try you can succeed.
