Summary: Sony Clie volatile memory
Review: I previously had a palm & gave ti t my Wife when I purchased the Sony. The first time that it fell off my desk and hit the ground it broke the screen (approximately 4 months old). Now try to find a replacement or warranty or have fixed? You might as well place in the trash bin!! To replace the screen is worth equal to cost of the unit! I will be going back to a Palm for my replacement.

Summary: Sony Clie volatile memory
Review: I purchased a Sony PEG S360 approximately two months ago. I chose this model because it was highly rated in comparative reviews of PDA's. A major drawback of this product is that ALL information on the memory card becomes lost if the battery completely loses a charge for an extended period of time. I learned this through personal experience but fortunately I had backed up my information on the computer. My old PalmPilot did not have this problem. I probably would not have bought the Clie if I knew that it was so easy to lose information.

Summary: Big Disappointment
Review: I purchased this unit after reading several reviews. What the reviews didn't tell me is that the standard Hot Sync cable feature doesn't work with Windows NT systems. After spending way too much time trying to find a Sony phone number for tech. support, I find a number where they charge for support by the minute! I don't think so. I finally find a person at a free Sony number who tells me it doesn't work on my system, I need to purchase the $80 cradle with a serial cable attachment. So I do. I wait a week and a half for delivery, it doesn't work either. Maybe it's me, I really don't under stand why this has to be sooooo hard! The unit is very nice, I do like it's features. But I need the ability to load and download information off my computer to the unit. Apparently I'm not smart enough to figure it out, the instructions leave a lot to be desired or this unit simply won't work with or without the cradle/serial cable on NT?????? Maybe with more/better instructions I would have figured it out. I'm returning all the equipment and going back to my Sharp OZ-730. A unit that does work on NT and my system!

Summary: PDA Beginner
Review: I received the Clie for Christmas as a starter PDA. I think it is a great starter! I like the rechargeable battery and the size of it (not as bulky as others). I haven't had the problem with stylus response as others have mentioned, but I did drop my first stylus and it broke immediately. I had to go buy the 3-pack. I do wish that it came with a cradle to more easily sync with my PC at work. However, overall I am very happy with the way it is working for me.

Summary: My First PDA, but now I can pick a better one!
Review: I was a firm believer in writing things down on paper - My dayrunner was always with me and worked well for me for many years... I took the step a few years ago to a PDA, my husband bought it for me for xmas, and it was amazing how much i learned to rely on it and use it!

Excellent way to keep track of addresses, phone numbers, and organize your busy schedule (both professional and personal).

Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks to this unit that I would like to share with you, and when i get a new one (I think this xmas i'll be upgrading!) I will know what is important to me in a PDA --

No backlight, this is annoying when you can not see your screen in a car or somewhere else, a backlight would be great.

Not compatible with my MAC - i have a PC at home, but at work we are on MACs, and i can not synchronize my schedule electronically at work, nor can I hotsync at work.

When your battery runs out, all of your information is lost, forever! This was a shocker! I had hotsynched a few months ago, so i was able to reload my old, out of date information back to my clie, but it was pretty awful, since all of the new appointments were not in the PDA, nor were updated phone numbers and addresses.

The buttons get pressed when it is in my purse, since the stick up slightly, they get pressed when in my purse, and then it runs the battery down.

It locks up - i would say it will freeze up and lock up about once every 2 months. that is frustrating and has no apparent reason for doing this.

I try to charge the battery every few days, so that helps with the memory loss.

I have found I really do enjoy having all of my information at my fingertips at all times, and this helps me manage my many meetings and events at work and home - and now that i know i will actually use and enjoy this device, it is time to upgrade to color, backlit display and MAC compatible software! I'm looking at the Zire 71 (it has a digital camera!).

Summary: Fantastic palm-based PDA
Review: I was looking for inexpensive PDA for my wife. At first I thought that palm m105, m125 or handspring would be nice, but when I saw this beauty I forgot all palms. Design is excellent. Palm PDAs and all handsprings (excluding most expensive ones) look really crude. Backlight compared to my old good palm IIIxe is fantastic. This PDA is smaller than my palm IIIxe though features are basically the same. Jog dial is another really good feature.
So if you are looking for palm-based PDA for under 200$ this is the best choice. I can not look at my palm IIIxe anymore it now looks so ugly.

Summary: Excellent Performance, Poor Durability
Review: Just 2 weeks ago, I purchased the PEG-S320. Although extremely fast with features such as 8mb and Palm OS v.4.0, I was very disappointed when, after only 2 weeks, the paint on the ultra- slick module began to chip. To further my dismay, I soon noticed the beam feature would not function. Overall, this product is packed with many appealing amenities, although the beam defect and the paint chips detract from my opinion of the PDA.

Summary: Quality Low Price PDA
Review: Pros: low price, crisp display with superb contrast, bright backlight, quality craftsmanship - Made in Japan, 8MB RAM, as fast as other most expensive PDAs with Motorola's 33Mhz processor
Cons: No support for Windows XP (but you can use Palm's Desktop), inconveniently placed power button, cannot charge and hot sync at the same time, bad customer support (usual for Sony)

On 12.28.01 Sony made available update for Windows XP through their web cite.
