It doesn't just list the chain motels in random towns across the state; it offers the best out-of-the-way finds and offers clear, valuable opinions on how best to spend your travel dollars. This year's editor, Nitin Shah, has done a terrific job revamping and updating coverage. Plus, the 2003 guide, in addition to being WAY more visually appealing, offers a ton of new editorial features and listings at all price ranges. Put down that Lonely Planet--Let's Go is THE way to go to California!
