Rating: Summary: Great light, long life on 4 batteries Review: I bought a Lightwedge reading light for my wife, then one for myself. It's a plate of plexiglass with LED lights in the edge -- you lay it over the book and it just lights up the page, not the surrounding tent/bed/camper. Two settings for bright, and darkened reading environments. And you can leave it in the book as a bookmark (works better with larger books than paperbacks). Runs for weeks, months on 4 AAA NiMH or alkaline rechargeable batteries (recommended). Because it can be scratched, keep it in the book you're reading, or keep the box handy for storage.
Rating: Summary: The ONLY book light I'll ever use! Review: I think I've tried nearly every book light on the market, since I'm read in bed and my husband doesn't like the lights left on. The Lightwedge book light is the FIRST one that not only keeps his side of the bed nice and dark but illuminates the pages of my books without any harsh glare. It actually looks as though the book pages are lighting themselves, with a nice, even glow and NO distracting overly bright areas. I'm giving these as holiday gifts to all the readers I know. Would be perfect for college students who have room mates yet need to stay up late studying.
Rating: Summary: Great once you get the hang of it. Review: I was looking for a reading light that allowed me to read in bed without turning on a light. This light wedge did the trick. It is an interesting gadget. By illuminating the plexiglass your book page underneath also gets lit. I will admit it was difficult to get use to. Having to move this from page to page was annoying at first, but I got the hang of it soon enough. The glass does scratch easily. Whether or notep it in its protective foam it will get scratched. Most of the scratches come from the paper pulp itself.
All in all this is a great light and I have been enjoying it for almost a year now.
Rating: Summary: This is definitely one of the best gifts I've ever received! Review: I'm being treated for an eye problem that is currently affecting the accuity of my vision. This light has been a lifesaver in my studies. Because of it, I haven't missed a beat in my classes, which I feared I would. If you have a simlat problem with clarity, I recommend this light for general use, and not just as a travelling item. Hopefully it will help you as much as it has helped him.
Rating: Summary: Great book light Review: Just read reviews re Lightwedge lamp and also an article how their manufacturing has returned from overseas to USA. I'll be buying one today! We need more of this!
Rating: Summary: Great Innovation on the Average Book Light Review: Positives:
* lightweight and only shines light on page you are reading
* does not distract your partner when sleeping
* impressive battery life
* great design
Negatives:
* too large for paperbacks (hence, should check out the paperback version)
Overall, a great buy for the frequent bedtime reader or traveler.
Rating: Summary: Almost perfect, but not quite... Review: The biggest advantage of this booklight is that it can spread a nice, diffuse light over the pages you're reading and at the same time not keep your sleeping partner up at night. Also doubles nicely as a bookmark when you're done for the evening. Battery life seems very good.
My only complaint is that the plastic used to create the light diffusion is very easily marred. Within a few days of use there were all kinds of smudges (which is to be expected and not a big deal), and also lots of small scratches just from gently pressing it against the pages I was reading. Also, it can be a little unwieldy to manuever in the dark when you're trying to hold the reader and shuffle over to the next chapter or page. Not impossible just takes a little getting used to IMO.
Still, you will be hard-pressed to find a better booklight that can cover a wide range of popular paperback and hardback sizes.
Rating: Summary: LightWedge way too dim Review: The LightWedge has a gorgeous design, but the light is too dim for reading. The directions say that if the light is too dim to make sure all the batteries are working and inserted properly. I did this many times and still the light was too dim on the brightest setting. I have good eyes. I wonder how one product could be viewed (literally) so differently by the people who love this light. Again, the design and packaging are lovely. The light is too dim.
Rating: Summary: Lightwedge is the best reading light Review: This is an awesome light! I've used it on and off for about 6 months now and I just love it. This size is for the larger books but there is also a smaller size for paperbacks. Both are great for reading and having an even light directly on the page that your reading. I've used this light both camping and at home. I haven't had a problem with scratches yet but I can see that it would be easy to get scratches on the plastic. I keep mine in the original box when not in use for protection. It would be nice though if someone would come out with a protective cover. The only negative I can give this is that it is a little bit cumbersome to turn pages and switch the light around but it is a small price to pay for a book light that is easy to use, works a long time on the batteries and doesn't need to be plugged in or recharged. I highly recommend this light. So much so that I am going to buy this for a few of my friends and family for Christmas, as well as buy myself the smaller model for paperback books. :)
