Rating: Summary: Comprehensive guidebook Review: I'm am glad to finally see a comprehensive mountain bike guidebook that covers subjects that many readers want more information about. This guidebook includes a section on mountain bicyle camping and biking with your dog. I've always wanted to take my gear with me and camp overnight and this section was very helpful. It lists outdoor vendors that carry camping gear and gives you a sample list of what you should bring. This book even has overnight a trail called "Haystack Lake" that is a good trail for those wanting to try their first overnight trip. I also have a dog and the "Mountain Biking with Your Dog" section gave a lot of practical advice I could use and also listed vendors that sell dog gear. I'm so glad to finally see a book that not only describes great trails but also is a great reference for other aspects of mountain biking!
Rating: Summary: Oregon's best trail guide! Review: Lizann's book is the best guide I've ever read! Great photos, maps and descriptions of some of the best riding in the Pacific Northwest. A great buy for any fat tire rider who's new to the area.
Rating: Summary: awesome maps Review: This book is the first guidebook I've seen that truly has maps that are useful. They are so visually detailed and helpful that I would highly recommend this mountain bike guide to any new or experienced mountain biker. Oh yeah, when I'm on the road this book also gives me a lot of history and information about the area I'm visiting.
Rating: Summary: See Oregon from the seat of your mountain bike. Review: When I was researching "Mountain Bike Oregon" I had one main goal in mind: I wanted readers to be inspired to see and experience Oregon from the seat of their mountain bike. People often ask me "How is your book different from all of the other books on mountain biking in Oregon?" I think this book is different because it contains four highly detailed maps for each ride and over 150 photos that show the beauty and diversity of Oregon. Other mountain bike books may show one picture and map for each ride. By letting readers "see" photos of the diverse regions of this state, I believe it will inspire them to go and do some exploring on their own. The detailed descriptions of each ride are also meant to give the reader "a taste and feel" of the area where the ride is located. Places to visit and stay, local history, trivia, and folklore are also included for each ride. I think this book is also packed full of information that new and experienced mountain bikers can use like: mountain biking with your canine pal, what to bring when you want to go bicycle camping, how to dress in cold winter conditions, mountain bike resources, how to change a tire, mountain bike ethics and much more... This guidebook was fun to write and it also made me realize that when you are experiencing Oregon from the seat of your mountain bike you will stop more to enjoy spectacular views, you will be more curious to stop in at little towns and pubs, you will see more wildlife, and you will want to spend every weekend finding a new mountain biking adventure.
