Summary: Informative guide for travel with kids
Review: Having traveled several times to NYC as a couple, we were unsure as to what our plans would be with two boys, 2 & 6. This guide was invaluable. It is an excellent resource for families. It is particularly useful when choosing family outings, accommodations, & restaurants. Age guidelines & menu summaries are provided for each restaurant. Descriptions of hotels & rooms (& space in the rooms) are given. Lots of info on kids' activities that isn't readily available to a visitor such as shows & museums for children, playgrounds, & even tips for finding a public restroom. And much more. Phone #s, websites, pricing, & age guidelines are given for all. Plus, lots of tips for many popular destinations about waiting times, environment for a small child (or older child), etc. - all that info that parents of young children want! All in all a great guide.

Summary: Thorough, entertaining guide to read
Review: I have already taken the kids to the Big Apple but wanted to be better prepared for the next trip. I found this guide extremeley helpful and accurate in its assessments. The restaurant reviews are particularly good- that was one area where I "winged it" and wished I had more working knowledge of the city. This guide is worth every penny.

Summary: Frommer's New York City with Kids, 6th Edition
Review: I have two things to rave about - the book and the service from Amazon.com.

First, the book. I wanted to take my 12-year-old son to New York City but had no idea how to plan it, not being terribly familiar with the city. The book made it so easy!

Not only does it describe in great detail the plusses and minuses of activities, it tells what ages are likely to enjoy the activity, the hours, the cost and even how to get there.

After just 2 hours of going through the book and looking at the terrific maps that break Manhattan into three parts, I was able to plan our four days to perfection. Because of the maps with each destination circled and numbered for easy reference, I knew where all the places were within an area, and we didn't waste time traveling on the same day from one extreme of the island to the other.

The restaurant section was terrific, too, and very "right-on."

Now about Amazon. com. I ordered my book at 9 a.m. one Saturday morning. To my amazement, it arrived just a little more than 48 hours later in my maibox! I've been raving about that to everyone.

All-in-all, my shopping experience was terrific and the book was terrific.

Summary: Simple and clearly written
Review: It was really easy to find things in this book and the important things, like addresses, hours, cost, etc. were easy to find. It was a great guide and is useful even if you are not travelling with children.

Summary: Family Fun in NYC
Review: Okay, I confess: I live in New York City. I even wrote a novel for kids about a New York family who welcomes a visitor and becomes tourists in their own hometown: MELANIE IN MANHATTAN (Knopf). But in my efforts to make sure that Melanie, 11, Matt the Brat, 7, and their parents covered lots of territory in all five boroughs, I did a lot of on-site research as well as library fact-checking. Holly Hughes is a terrific writer and this guide was very helpful. So get it and come visit us! You'll love our city!

Summary: Great book for family travel in NYC
Review: Our family just returned from a long weekend in NYC, and this book was invaluable. The book's recommendation of the Doubletree Hotel as the best 'kid-friendly' place in town was right on. Spacious rooms, modern, clean and a great location. The book suggested John's Pizza which was another great call. The pizza was great, the restaurant was loud enough to handle the kids and we were able to get a table quickly on a Saturday night.

The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The hotel also had a great location right on Times Square. The book also suggested John's Pizza which turned about to be a great call.
