Summary: Outstanding Handbook for UP travels
Review: This is an outstanding reference for exploring the UP. It is fun to read, it is accurate, and it has an extremely diverse mix of things to do from waterfalls, old mines, neat restaurants including descriptions of the things on the menu, ghost towns, scienc sites, historic sites, to so much more. It is absolutely esstential to fully appreciate all the wonderfull things the UP has to offer. Without this guide, I guarantee you will not get the most out of your UP experience.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent resource for planning and travel
Review: Though my wife and I are displaced Yoopers, we try to get back for visits whenever we can. While we thought we had a good handle on things to see and do, this book provided us with many ideas and much valuable information on our last vacation. We especially appreciated the effort that went into researching and locating places that offered truly local flavor -- chain accomodations and restaurants are no way to experience that which makes the U.P. what it is!

Summary: A veritable treasure trove of what to see and do in da U.P.!
Review: We borrowed this book from the library to plan our family vacation. Liked it so much that we bought it to take with us! This will save us much time and money by steering us towards the better treasures of the UP. I particularly enjoyed the detailed descriptions of tours, people, and places. Talked with Mary (author) on the phone the other day and she's not only a travel authority, but also an armchar sociologist / historian / outdoors-woman, etc. Only problem with this book is it will attract more people to this best kept secret region of our great state!
