Rating: Summary: A joy to read. Review: "Could there be small leaks between the worlds, a psychic bleed, perhaps, of energies from when energy was running at a premium?" Mark Nesbitt posed this question in the text of Ghosts of Gettysburg. Without a doubt, catastrophic events leave indelible marks on the land upon which they occurred. Place memories are like a tape recorder to be rewound and played again and again. Then there are those occasions when it isn't a place memory but a ghost. Battlefields are excellent places to find them, as they are all haunted.Mark Nesbitt is a former Ranger with the National Park Service. He includes many of his own experiences as well as those of other employees, many of whom, have lived in the historic structures that dot the battlefield. Being a NPS insider, he was able to interview many knowledgeable people who might not have spoken to others because of the National Park Services' stance that there aren't any ghosts. Nesbitt's knowledge of the battle and extensive research into other historical areas really brought the stories to life. This is an excellent scholarly volume written so that even a historical ignorant could follow the story of the battle and personages involved. Highly recommended!

Rating: Summary: A joy to read. Review: All of these books were a joy to read. Each story gives you a brief historical account of each haunted sight, so you get a little history lesson with each chilling story. The various ghost stories are quite interesting if you believe in them, and I had trouble putting each of these books down due to my interest in both ghosts and US Civil War history. I hope there's a book VI.
Rating: Summary: Ghosts of Gettysburg book series Review: As a resident about 40 minutes from Gettysburg, we bought these books when they were first published, drove around the battlefield, stopped at each place mentioned, and read aloud the accounts of what occured there. There is one house in particular that was on what became the battlefield and was used for injured soldiers - there is a blood stain on the steps that after all these years and countless cleanings, still will not disappear. This is true, as my aunt visited the house as a young woman and saw the stain herself. And the 'boy' soldier who could not cross the doorway to the 'new' part of the house built after the war to join a party at what is now a building of Gettysburg College. So much more! Good reading, and even better to visit the battlefield books in hand!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! I have purchased a number to give as gifts. Review: Fantastic. Anyone interested in history, the paranormal, or good writing will love Mark's entire series. I have read and reread all the books and actually went on one of Mark's Ghosts of Gettysburg walking tours. An incredible read, an incredible time, the best five bucks you'll ever spend.
Rating: Summary: Haunting, chilling and entertaining to read!! Review: Former Park Ranger Mark Nesbitt has over the years gathered many ghost stories from other park rangers, visitors and people who live in the area. Nesbitt tries to gather factual data on the stories he receives so he can offer a background as to why these ghost stories may have evolved. His stories are usually quite interesting and do not just talk about battlefield soldiers, civilians alike are also involved in famous ghost stories in Gettysburg! Buy all 5 books, there worth it! Each has many short stories that are easy and fun to read.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I agree with all of the other reviewers, these are great books, even if you just want to learn about the battle itself. The ammount of research that went into these books is amazing, and well worth it. I am a Civil War buff, and am constantly going back to the books to look up stories. I would recommend it to everybody.

Rating: Summary: All 4 volumes of Nesbitt's series are a must-read! Review: I have read all 4 volumes of Mark's series and I recommend them to anyone interested in Civil War spirits. Mark's writing style is convincing enough that you know the accounts cannot be hoaxes. You can't possibly not believe in ghosts after reading this series. Hope Mark comes out with a volume 5.
