Lonely Planet Milan, Turin & Genoa (Milan, Turin and Genoa, 1st Ed)

Review: Sadly, this guide doesn't live up to Lonely Planet's usual standard. Coverage of the three main cities is good, but information on the more charming smaller cities and towns is weak. For excursions, I found Maureen Ashley's "Northwest Italy" to be at least as useful as a general guide, even though it is intended for wine touring. Aside from Milan (a pleasant surprise) and the Cinque Terre (overrun), this part of Italy doesn't seem to see many English speaking tourists, so even some basic Italian language skills will pay great dividends.

Review: The book is very out of date. Don't bother trying to find any of the restaurants or stores listed. They have probably closed or changed their names. Of about 10 establishments I tried to track down, 7 were not there or had wrong directions. There is no update on their web site.
