Rating: Summary: A Unique Combination of 66 Ghost Stories along Route 66! Review: A first of its kind book, Haunted Highway combines the love of America's favorite highway (Route 66) with true ghost stories or hauntings along its 2400 miles, starting in Chicago and covering all eight states and finally ending in Santa Monica. In addition, each site has tourist information listed for those who wish to get their kicks with the spirits of Route 66!
Rating: Summary: Left me wanting to read of other haunted places. Review: A very exciting book, 66 different haunted sites along Route 66. I think when I retire I would like to travel along 66 and take in these haunted sites, just for the "chill" of it.
Rating: Summary: A compendium and guidebook for true American ghost stories. Review: Ellen Robson and Dianne Halicki have collaborated in Haunted Highway: The Spirits of Route 66 to present sixty-six true ghost stores occurring along or close by the fabled two-thousand mile transcontinental Highway 66. Best of all, each site for each story is open to the general public. The ghosts are as varied as the hotels, museums, restaurants, and showboat to which they are associated. Indeed, there are locals who maintain that some of the spirits still linger on this history highway. From poltergeists to specters, these stories capture the mystique of Route 66 with all of their attendant tragedy, romance, adventure, and love. Information is provided on each location cited including address, phone number, and hours/days of operation so that the readers can visit the sites and "ghost hunt" for themselves. Haunted Highway is highly recommended reading for students of metaphysics and the paranormal, as well as travelers making their way along Route 66.
Rating: Summary: what a disappointment Review: I bought this book last month in St. Louis, on my first journey across Route 66. I love ghost stories, so I was extremely excited to read the book and do some ghost-hunting on my journey. Shah! Most of the houses/hotels/etc aren't even on 66; a lot of them are in cities that 66 doesn't cross through. The only story I even cared for was the one about Spook Light in Oklahoma. Who I didn't see. Should've saved my ten bucks for a cheesy Route 66 tin shield at one of the gift shops along the way.

Rating: Summary: What a surprise Review: I read this book about a year ago and just logged on to order it for a friend. I was surprised to see "Jane's" review. I've traveled the open portions of Route 66 several times and in my opinion, the book delivers on everything it promises. You may not see a ghost and many of the haunted places are not right on the route. The authors tell you that. The point is Route 66 leads you there, just like it lead those spirits. I think Jane missed the spirit of the book as well as the Spooklight.

Rating: Summary: Wonderful tour of Route 66 and it's ghost Review: I thoroughly enjoyeyed this tour of Route 66 and it's ghosts. It's fast paced and a easy read with a few pages on each story. The ghosts are all either on Route 66 or very closeby to olde mother road. It definitely made me want to go on the same trip of exploration that the authors did so I guess that's a good endorsement.
Rating: Summary: a dissappointment Review: One of those books trying to get sold by hanging a catchy name on it, really doesn't have anything to do with Rt 66, just a collection of unrelated, not very well told stories
