Rating: Summary: "Going Like Lynn" gives you the inside scoop on seeing Paris Review: "Going Like Lynn" is lots of fun to read. Author Lynn Portnoy keeps things to the point and funny. I loved the section on "Traveling with One Bag". I wish I'd had that information many trips ago! Packing would have been so easy. "Going Like Lynn" liberates you to make the best use of your time in Paris.
Rating: Summary: Lynn's Second Home Review: A delightful, informative book especially for women, but for anyone. You can tell that Lynn has a deep love for Paris and traveling. The packing tips are great!!! Can't wait for the New York book.

Rating: Summary: Way to go Lynn!! Review: A great resource for any traveler. Fun to read as well. I will pack the book for our spring trip to Paris; of course I have the benefit of knowing Lynn and intend to call for her "personal" update. (I'd forgotten about the great "salmon" story.) Where to next???
Rating: Summary: A second thought Review: After having traveled to Paris with this book, I must upgrade my original review of 3.5 stars. While I still find some of the suggestions a bit pricey, as a basic travel guide to Paris, this is a grand little book. It went everywhere with us, accompanied by just one other book, Lonely Planet's Condensed Guide to Paris, which has great maps. Along with excellent preplanning and packing advice, Going Like Lynn: Paris provides information on the best sites for you to pick and chose from (we're not big shoppers, so we didn't go to the recommended stores). Definitely a keeper put back for our next trip, unless Lynn does an updated edition (hint)!
Rating: Summary: A bit overpriced for both size and content. Review: Alas, a book can not be rated with a .5. Fun to read and nicely formatted, the travel tips in Going Like Lynn - Paris are good; the packing list is excellent. These two rate 4 stars. However, once the author gets to the nuts and bolts of a trip to Paris, the site seeing specifics are good, but many of the suggestions are somewhat cost prohibitive for anyone traveling on a budget. This portion would rate 3 stars for cost conscious travelers. It may be difficult to justify the expense of a morning touring in a chauffeur-driven limousine, high cost restaurants and taxi rides, although the taxi may be a worthwhile safety precaution for the solo traveler returning from a late evening dinner. The author appears to enjoy being spoiled while traveling. Since the book is geared to women traveling on their own, not everyone may be able to afford quite that much luxury. Had more thought been provided to budget traveling, this tiny book could have been more useful to a wider range of readers.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful author! Review: I actually met Lynn Portnoy in the Paris airport, and she sent me a copy of this book after my return to the United States. She has wonderful advice on hotels, packing, sightseeing, and so much more. Her stories are enthusiastic, as much as she personally is about the subject she is sharing with us. Having read the book after my return from Paris, I cannot wait to return, and I am excitedly waiting for her "Going like Lynn - New York" for my travels there!
Rating: Summary: a traveler from Michigan Review: I found this book a great companion during my second trip to Paris. Lynn has a great way of helping you tour an area so that you feel like one of the locals. I totally disagree with the first customer reviewers comments. I rode the Metro everyway in Paris, lodged at one of Lynn's suggested hotels, and ate at all of her suggested restaurants. I found it quite an economical way to travel! Her tips about planning ahead are invaluable. I was able to enjoy several museums, sight see, shop, and eat well during a four day stay. I highly recommend this book as a MUST companion to one of the larger tour books of Paris. You can carry it around in your pocket or fanny pack to reference when you're out and about. Besides Lynn sends you to off the beaten path places where you are treated with kindness and hospitality; and where exceptions are always made! Frommers can't offer that!

Rating: Summary: a traveler from Michigan Review: I love both of Lynn's books. Although I have not had the oppurtunity to travel to Paris, I find reading Going Like Lynn-Paris an exciting preparation. In traveling to New York with Going Like Lynn, I found a sense of adventure that is lost with company. I am now planning a solo trip to Paris and intend on packing her book in my carry on.
