Summary: A Classic and Still Great!
Review: I loved the first edition of this book, and it was a ground-breaking travel effort--the first comprehensive guidebook to the Yucatan area. It still holds up today, but there are several other guides that are just as good. I especially enjoy Chicki Mallan's down-to-earth style and her way of highlighting worthy locally-owned businesses that we might not otherwise know about. For example, she gives information on small hotels in Izamal, and there's a new ecotourism project in the Xpujil area.

Review: Very well written, this travel guide to the Yucatan goes into more detail about the less commercially known places. A great resource to read before going to the area and good resource for accomidations. There are tidbits and hints here that give it a valuable local insight feel. Also a great book to take with you.
