Summary: A charming & poignant memoir
Review: As we are off to Ireland this summer, I was looking for a book that went beyond the typical travel guide that would give us a wisp or flavor of things Irish..."I'll Know It When I Get There" fit the bill wonderfully! Alice Carey, the author intersperses recollections of her childhood growing up Irish in New York with her adult hankering to return to Ireland and to find a place to call her own. It's hardly a sentimental journey though - she looks at life head on and often in a hardhitting fashion. Her writing is wonderful to read - the Irish inflections and all, I just wish we were taking "Alice M'rie" along with us this summer!

Review: I found this book most enjoyable. It almost could of been
2 seperate books. Life on Broadway and Life on the Emerald Isle.
I would love Ms. Carey expand on both in future books....A great read!!
