Summary: A walk To Remember
Review: "A Walk To Remember" is a wonderful story of how love has the power to change. It all begins when Landon Carter, the son of a wealthy congressman, runs for the position of class president. Of course due to his popularity he wins. The homecoming dance is the next weekend and all the representatives are supposed to go but Landon is unable to get a date at the last minute. The only option left is church-going Jamie Sullivan the daughter of the towns reverend. She has an unbelievable amount of faith and is always reading her bible she carries around. Reluctantly he asked her and she happily accepted but said "only if you promise not to fall in love with me". At the time Landon didn't think that would be a problem. While at the dance Landons ex-girlfriend Angela came drunk and Jamie found her in the bathroom throwing up all over. Jamie told Landon and they both helped clean it up and then took her home. Landon was thankful to Jamie and realized that most dates wouldn't have helped so he told her he owed her one. In return a couple of months later Jamie asked Landon to take the lead role in the Christmas play. Although he didn't want to he couldn't say no to her overwhelming kindness and because he remembered his promise. This play was very important to her because her father wrote it. He always wrote the Christmas play but this one was different. It was about how his wife,Jamies mother, died during child birth and how he was left to raise her all by himself. In the play her mother turns into an angel which will be played by Jamie herself. So she wants to make it extra special. The night of the play when Jamie came out Landon was stunned by her beauty. This was the moment there love began to flourish. It was like nothing could go wrong. Then she told him "I told you not to fall in love with me" and revealed to Landon that she had a serious illness and didn't have more than a year left to live. This was heartbreaking but only made their love stronger and their time left together more valuable. If you would like to know how this story ends read the romantic love story "A Walk To Remember".

Summary: A Sweet and Spiritual "Walk"
Review: This was a pleasant book to read, though the entire story was quite predictable. From the moment the Landon begins describing Jamie....well, most readers will know that this "bad boy" will soon lose his heart to the "good girl." I don't want to say anything about the ending, so as not to spoil it, but most readers will see it coming. This novel lacks any tension or mystery. We know what will happen -- the pleasure lies in watching it unfold.

The story is spiritual with a Christian message. This is the first Nicholas Sparks book that I've read, so I don't know if all his novels are oriented towards religion. I was expecting a love story, but the emphasis on church and religion surprised me. I think the book will probably be most meaningful to Christians. As a Jewish person, I found it somewhat unreal. The "bad" characters were revealed to be quite harmless and good at heart. The "good" characters were beyond human good - Jamie is described as angelic, and so she is.

It is a sweet book, though. And I read it quickly, in one day. It is not at all suggestive or sexual, and is appropriate reading for all ages.

Summary: A Beautiful Love Story
Review: Ok, I won't say this book sucked, but it was a romance and romances are supposed to be sappy and stuff like that. I kinda liked this book actually, better than the notebook. The notebook kinda got on my nerves a little because Noah and Allie love each other and stuff like that, but...the man has a thing with diseases, people! I'm serious! In the notebook, she gets some sort of memory disease that mad eher forget he ever existed and in this book now, ( spoiler ) Jamie has cancer that cannot be helped and she dies in the end ( end spoiler ) and then in the notebook, they decided to go and do it for the whole day, making up " lost time. " I'm a Christian. Give me a break. It's all my mother's fault. Anyways, in this book, he only kisses her and holds her hand. I understand that one. Jamie is a little fragile throughout the whole book and I'm not saying that's wrong but...This book was a sad romance and I liked it. Better than the notebook once again.

Summary: A walk on the path we will all remember one day
Review: Get a tissue... no a BOX of tissues handy with this one. "A walk to remember" is a stunningly beautiful tale of transformation. In just one day i consumed this truly stunning story. It was one of the most heartwarming experiences ive had with a book, it is a story that i shall always look to when I am feeling at my worst.

Landon Carter transports us back to the late 1950s when he was growing up in Beaufort, North Carolina. He is a selfish teenager, who is more concerned with good-looking girls to snatch up, than his College Application. When his senior year starts, Landon decides to join the Drama class - something easy to sleep through and a class full of girls sounds like the good life. But then a twist of fate lands Landon as the male lead in the annual schoolplay along side Jamie Sullivan - a devoted christian who spends her spare time looking after the unfortunate and reading her precious Bible. Such qualities makes Jamie the target of many cruel teenage jokes. But as Landon gets to know Jamie more, he discovers the pureness of her heart and most importantly, the beauty within and falls deeply in love. Then Jamie reveals a secret that will change both of their lives forever...

So as you can see by reading, the story isnt terribly original, but its whats at the essence, and the hidden message of this novel which seperates Nicholas Sparks' tale from all the rest. The innocence of young love and the final bridge from adolecence to adulthood is gripping and emotional. More importantly, teaches us that if you have true faith in something, it will guide you through. If you really listen for the signs the right thing will always come.

One of the things that got me about "A walk to remember" was (without revealing anything) even when Jamie is in her darkest hour, in Landon's eyes she is still undyingly beautiful. I think this is one of the messages that Sparks was trying to tell us. The story is essentially about looking past outer beauty. That is accomplished to absolute perfection.

In conclusion, "A walk to remember" is a is a simple story, however, locked within its pages are beautiful life lessons. But for me, this a wonderful glimpse at the traquility of first love, a walk we all remember one day.

Summary: Cry...for a walk to remember
Review: This is a truly uplifting and hopeful story. I loved it just as much as "The Notebook" and "The Wedding". This is a different Nicholas Sparks, not one who is focused on the romantic love in his other works. Truly Beautiful. I highly recommend it to people of all ages.

Summary: "It was... In every way a walk to remember"
Review: There are few books that are as full of joy, sadness, and love as A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. This book relays the tale of seventeen-year-old Langdon Carter and the girl who drastically changes his life.
The story is set in Beaufort, North Carolina, "...where the humidity rose so high in the summer that walking out to get the mail made a person feel as if he needed a shower, and the kids walked around barefoot from April through October beneath trees draped in Spanish moss." Langdon narrates the tale about himself and Jamie Sullivan. Jamie is the ultimate "good girl." She rescues injured animals, raises money for the local orphanage, and, to top it all off, she's the preacher's daughter. Jamie's life is sheltered; she doesn't have a boyfriend, nor does she attend school dances. Langdon is somewhat of the reverse- he sneaks out of his house at night, and is viewed as "rebellious" because of it. When the lives of these two opposites entangle, it transforms them both in ways they never could've imagined.
Nicholas Sparks' vivid imagery makes this story unforgettable; this book is for the romantic in all of us. Sweet, yet tear-jerking, this will be the novel you pick up to read again and again.

Summary: Awesome...simply awesome!
Review: I didn't know what to expect as I started reading "a walk to remember". I had seen the movie, but since it was on network TV, and therefore, probably not complete, I decided to read the book and let it stand on its own merits. Hearing Nicholas Sparks read it made it that much more of a treat!
I've read some deep, even profound books in my time, but none that touched me in the way this book did. It takes a special book to make me cry, and this book is the first to do it. Seeing Landon's transformation was an awesome thing to behold because it was wonderfully written. Reading this book, and because a good friend saw the movie of "the notebook", I want to read more of Nicholas' books, and I eagerly await the chance to do just that.

Oh, by the way? All the other reviewers who have said you'll need Kleenex are right...have a box handy wherever you read this book!! I can't recommend it highly enough...even five stars doesn't do it justice!

Summary: A Walk to Remember
Review:
Title: A Walk to Remember
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Pages: 240
Date Started: 11/4/2004
Date Finished: 12/14/2004

Annotation: Every April, when the wind blows from the sea and mingles with the scent of lilacs, Landon Carter remembers his last year at Beaufort High. It was 1958, and Landon had already dated a girl or two. He even swore that he had once been in love. Certainly the last person in town he thought he'd fall for was Jamie Sullivan, the daughter of the town's Baptist minister. A quiet girl who always carried a Bible with her schoolbooks, Jamie seemed content living in a world apart from the other teens. She took care of her widowed father, rescued hurt animals, and helped out at the local orphanage. No boy had ever asked her out. Landon would never have dreamed of it. Then a twist of fate made Jamie his partner for the homecoming dance, and Landon Carter's life would never be the same. Being with Jamie would show him the depths of the human heart and lead him to a decision so stunning it would send him irrevocably on the road to manhood . . .
Author Biography: Nicholas Charles Sparks was born in Omaha, Nebraska into a family of loving parents and two siblings. His father, Patrick, mother Jill, sister Danielle, and brother Michael lived together in Fair Oaks, California. Nicholas grew up to be a very determined and achieving track runner. He was also successful in his studies. He majored in Business Finance and graduated with high honors. He met his wife Catherine on spring break in 1988. Nicholas began writing and selling books in 1994. Since then Nicholas Sparks has had eleven very successful novels and will continue to do so in the future.
Evaluation: "A Walk to Remember" is about teenagers Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter. Landon grew up being rebellious with his group of friends. Because of the mistakes the Landon had made, his mother thought it would be a good idea for him to try to become student council president. After he broke up with his girlfriend, Landon had to find a new date to take to the homecoming dance. All of the girls that he would normally consider going with were already being taken, so Landon was forced to ask the only girl left, Jamie Sullivan. They went to the dance, and surprisingly had a great time. Landon was confused by his feelings for Jamie and pushed them aside. One day after school, Jamie called Landon and told him that she needed a favor. She needed him to be Tom Thorton in her father's Christmas play. Landon realized that he owed her so he accepted the part. The play turned out to be a huge success. From all of the time that he put into the play with Jamie, Landon realized that his feelings for Jamie had grown to be something real. He had fallen for her. They started hanging out all the time after school, doing things that Jamie liked such as visiting orphanages and dancing at fancy restaurants. They had fallen in love. As they grew closer, Landon began to notice changes in Jamie. She was always tired and was always getting sick. It was then the Landon found out that Jamie had leukemia and she was dying. Landon was crushed. He knew what he wanted to do so he asked Jamie to marry him. They got married that summer and shortly before Jamie passed away. Landon never loved anyone like he loved Jamie. She had changed his life forever and he would never forget that.
A Walk to Remember is one of my favorite books. I love how Nicholas Sparks always seems to catch my attention with his romance novels. This book showed me the true being of love and fate. Reading this book gave me the chills to see how much true love Landon had for Jamie. It made me happy to see that Landon could look past Jamie's image at high school and see the real person in Jamie. The simple risk that Landon took of asking Jamie out on a date made for a complete positive change in his life. I often wondered throughout the book what would have happened with Landon's life had he not asked Jamie to the homecoming dance. I wonder if he would have kept making mistakes with his life or if he would have found peace in himself and in his family. I definitely thought that A Walk to Remember was well written. It was the type of book that when you start reading, it is difficult to put down.

Summary: A Walk To Remember
Review: A Walk To Remember was a great book to read I really enjoyed it. But I did think that it was a little boring at the beginning. For about the first one or two chapters it was just basically describing everyone and everything and it just got a little hard to keep reading, but I got through it and when I read the rest of the book I was amazed. I thought it was a awesome story with great plot twists and a great ending. I'm not going to tell you what happens in the end, but I can say that it was happy, and sad at the same time. But I think that it is a very, very good book to read and espcially if you are a person who enjoys reading romance novels. Well, I overall I really liked this book, and there were really no real bad points in the book that I disliked, other than the beginning. The book was a little different from the movie. I will say that I liked the movie a little better because I think that it was somewhat easier to follow. So I think that people should defenetly read this book, it was great and god bless!!!
