Summary: Love, Life, and Lies
Review: Author Trisha Thomas brings back the popular heroine Venus Johnston in her much-anticipated sequel to Nappily Ever After. WOULD I LIE TO YOU continues Venus? story. She is moving on from her breakup with Clint and has been engaged to her new love, Airic, for two years. Ever the workaholics, the two have yet to set a wedding date. When Venus takes a job assignment in Los Angeles the couple is forced to decide if absence will truly make the heart grow fonder.

While in LA, Venus is privileged to work with Jake Parsons, a rapper turned fashion mogul, who also happens to be ten years her junior. Their attraction is undeniable and soon Venus finds herself questioning her decisions regarding love. To further complicate matters, a newly divorced Clint appears, and Venus is forced to look deep within herself to decide what she values most, that which she loves or that which is familiar and secure.

Trisha Thomas has written another entertaining novel. While the beginning of the story flowed well, the ending seemed a little rushed. However, the story as a whole is engaging and I found myself rushing through to find out what Venus? ultimate decision would be. I really enjoyed the fact that WOULD I LIE TO YOU had several subplots that tackled intense issues such as breast cancer. As always the characters were realistic and well developed. WOULD I LIE TO YOU is an excellent read that can be enjoyed by all.

Summary: I was left fulfilled!
Review: I enjoyed this book and was pleased to see Venus finally happy, under any circumstance. Over all the book left me very fulfilled and I am also pleased that Trisha kept Venus' strength and integrity throughout the book. I would have given it 5 out of 5 stars but I was a little disappointed about the lack of detail in the final chapters. Everything seemed very crammed at the end. But overall an excellent read!

Summary: I read it in 1 day
Review: I must say that I did not expect to like this book so much. I actually read it in less then 24 hours. I loved that Venus found true love after all. I hope that there is another book so I can find out if they live happily ever after.

Summary: A Great Sophomore Book
Review: I thought that Trisha Thomas' follow up to Venus' life was great and a good sophomore book. A lot of times we go through life and think that everything should be wrapped up in a neat little package and that Venus would live happily ever after with Airic but Ms. Thomas let us know that all things dont work like that and sometimes you have to make many stops on your way to find true happiness. I felt at then end of Nappily Ever After that she was going with Airic just because he was there and available and I am glad she came back with this book to show us that sometimes plans do change and sometimes we have to go a long way around to reach the goal that we are trying to attain. I was shocked at the end about one little scenario that I wanted to go one way but it went the other but I thought after a while that it did show a real depiction of REAL life and not fiction. I thought it was a great book. Keep up the good work Ms. Thomas!!!!

Summary: Okay
Review: Is it me or did the main character spend half the book crying? Jeez. It was an alright book. Basically it was about a woman who was trying to succeed in a company partnered with two men who had very strong opinions about authority. She ends up meeting a one-time hit rap artist who is interested in her. In the mean time, she has an unattentive fiancee and another ex-fiancee that she hasn't quite gotten over. Three men circle her love life in different ways and her mother may have cancer too. When it rains, it pours. The rap artist was an interesting guy, and I was more interested in him and his history with her two male co-workers than I was with her. She spent too much time crying and cheating for me. After awhile, I was just bored with her.

Summary: Somebody Lied To Me!!
Review: Sorry to say but this book was hit with the sophomore jinx. I have to call them like I see them and I don't see 5 stars for this book. I read "Nappily Ever After" many months ago and loved it. I was very disappointed in "Would I Lie To You?" as a sequel. The best character is Jake who everyone will compare to P-Diddy when reading. Unfortunately he didn't get the voice he should have, he was playing backup to Venus with her unnecessary drama. I didn't feel that the author brought Venus to life as she did in "Nappily Ever After". A sequel should have at least a little bit of growth in the main character, yet Venus has gone backwards almost to the point of going in the womb. It took the ENTIRE book for Venus to GET IT which is fine if the book wasn't all over the place. Why didn't I sympathize and relate to Venus in this book? I didn't enjoy her having a constant chip on her shoulder, nor did I enjoy her not being able to make one solid, adult decision. Ms. Thomas may have written her in this way to show that she still hasn't thawed out from the devastation that Clint caused but all I could think of while reading was RELAX!! This book took me much longer to read than "Nappily Ever After" as well as "Roadrunner" which were both excellent books. I do have to say that I enjoyed the ending of the book. There was no other way to go except wrap it up in a neat little package, the author owed us that. I hope Ms. Thomas has laid Venus Johnston to rest and comes back as strong as I know she can with another novel because this just didn't do it for me.

Summary: a hot book with a lot goin' on...
Review: This is even better than Trisha's first book, Nappily Ever After, which is one of my favorites of all time. It's more about the life of Venus Johnston, a successful, daring sista whose still got problems like the rest of us.

Even though Venus has ther perfect fiance, they haven't set a date, and when the book starts, she's about to go to LA for a temporary business assignment. Her new business client is Jake Parsons, who's successful like P.Diddy but a lot hotter and a lot more of a gentleman. He's also 26, 10 years younger than Venus. Venus is committed to her fiance, Aeric, but she keeps thinking about Jake and when she has to deal with a crisis in her family, it's Jake, not Aeric, who's there for her.

There's a lot of love in this book and it works. It's a lot smarter than some of the books for black women that are out there, but it's even more entertaining. The ending is perfect, even if it's not what you were expecting. My girfreinds and I loved the last book by this author and we're glad to see this one's out there. I really recommend it--this is an author who doesn't let you down.
