Review: This book is abot the Price family. The mother Viola and father Cecil are getting a divorce after so many years of mariage. Their only son Lewis is a drug addict that keeps going in and out of jail and doesn't take of his son. Their youngest daughter Janelle's husband is molesting her only daughter. The middle daughter Charlotte finds out that her only son Trevor is gay. If you think that this is drama you need to read the rest of the book to find out why Cecil and Viola are getting a divorce and about the rest of the family's drama!

Summary: Cannot put this book down!
Review: I loved Terry's "Waiting to Exhale" and "How Stella Got Her Groove Back". I'm not sure why so many reviews are down on the latter - I thought it was a fabulous book, and was incredibly impressed by the main character's relationship with her son. I was a bit dissapointed with the beginning of "A day late...", because the tone was much darker and pessimistic than the other two books - but I was so hooked on the characters by then that I couldn't put it down! I'm amazed at the talent that Terry shows in showing us the bad sides of each character, then having us fall in love with them as they reveal themselves. There were no "bad guys" in this book among the narrarators - every member of the family had an important and special role. I loved the ending and cried like a baby. This is a total "must read" - and I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of Terry's work after experiencing this even more in depth novel!

Review: Hats off to Terry McMillian for doing a dynamic job again! This book has every kind of emotion you want to read and feel about. Of course the characters seem very familiar because I believe we all have at least one of them in our family. Job well done.

Summary: Familiar Family Dynamics
Review: Great Book! Each character was developed well. Despite their differences, everyone came together as a family. My favorite scene in the book was the way Lewis dealt with his son's stepfather when demonstrating how much the former objected to the physical disciplining of his son by a non-family member. It's good to talk things out, but sometimes you just have to get "raw" to make your point.

Summary: ever sit down to read a book that sounds like family?
Review: this was an excellent read. all of the characters had plenty of beef and the dynamics of the siblings as well as the parents echoed that of real life. when you have an author that can articulate the tangled emotions of a family, then you have a hit on your hands! i enjoyed this book immensely.

Summary: Quite A Long Journey!!
Review: Although I have to agree with most readers, the book was quite a delve into family matters, and how each individual member dealt with their problems. I mostly admire how each character in a particular chapter narrates in first person, which makes reading enjoyable and understandable in my opinion. I guess my only problem was, Just get straight to the point without soooo much detail, for I just like it plain and simple but I do like her character development.You do actually feel what the character feels, such as the sister with the child being molested, and the other sister with the cheating husband. It was mostly sad though how the mother was just starting to enjoy life until the very end.Over all, a frustrating, enjoyable read.

Summary: Every Emotion You Can Think Of
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed,"A Day Late and a Dollar Short." I would go to bed at night worried about Viola and her family. I woke each morning in anticipation that everything would be worked out in the next turn of my page. Everyone can identify with one or more of the characters in this book. Terry McMillan has truly outdone herself. The ending is very sad but I loved everything about this book. You will feel happiness,joy,anger,and sadness when reading this book.

Review: Terry Mcmillan is one of the best authors. In A Day Late and a Dollar Short, she makes the characters come to life. She really knows what most families go through. When I first start reading most books, I'm it's not that interesting. But A day Late and a Dollar Short caught my attention right away.
I love this book because it teaches you the real meaning of life. You should enjoy life as much as you can before it's to late. It also teaches you the meaning of family. In this book, the family goes through so much, but at the end they all come together to have Thanksgiving with one another. They put aside their feelings and obeyed thier mothers wishes. This shows that family is the most inportant thing in the world.
