Summary: The excellncy of writing!
Review: This book was soooo good I couldn't put it down. I mean from the time I opened it to the first chapter to the last chapter this book was excellent. I was reading it in the bathroom, in the car, at work as usual but more so in every second I got. That's what I love about Kimberla Lawson Roby she never miss a beat. When I read her books I tend to put myself in the lead characters shoes. In which I did with Anise. I could see myself doing exactly what Anise had to do. There was no way she should have had to continue going through being denied a position up in rank due to the color of her skin. See we as African Americans have done and will continue to do what we have to be be heard. We know this world is still filled with Racist. I just want to know if Frank left Anise for his exwife after the chase he went through to get her. How he helped her to bring down the three evils of the company and how he paved the way for not ony him and Anise but the other employees as well and those to come after them. I am looking forward to reading all about Frank and Anise in 2005 to find out. I will wait to grade that book as well. I know it will be a 5***** also.

Summary: Horrible, not on scale with her previous work.
Review: My Momma always told me, don't comment unless it's positive. So I'll let my heading speak for itself.

Summary: Just Ok
Review: We saw this story as mainly about sexism, racism that sadly exists in Corporate America and our society. The ugly fact is ironically it exists not only external to our race but within as well. We liked how the character Anise was determined and persistant in not allowing the unjust deeds be perpetuated against her. Anise recieved good support from her 'so called' friends and her Mother. We felt that the ending lacked closure. The characters perhaps needed more exploration and depth - Mother, Frank. This story didn't touch us. Nothing in it that we could grab hold of unlike many other novels that we've read which provided endless dialogue for us and kept us thinking and talking well after we've read the last sentence.

Summary: She always Keeps it Real!!
Review: This book hits home for a lot of African Americans who deal with interracial relationships, and also discrimination on the job. Black women its nothing wrong with dating a white man...just as long as that white man respects you and loves you...because you have to think about it like this....its good to date in your race and all but when we all get to heaven it aint just gonna be black people there, all races shall be there, and God loves us all and we should also. Discrimantation is still apart of the workplace in a lot of companies and Ms. Roby touches on it so well that she made me want to do concentration in Human Resource Management for my masters in business administration, because a lot of times people are put in the position for who they know and not what they know!!! And I love the way the book ended it doesnt give you this fairy tale ending...it ends the way life really is...after one obstacle there are many more to face...and you know what...that is REALITY!! This is Ms. Roby at her best...and I cant wait for your next piece of work!

Summary: All Women's Reality
Review: The lastest book by Lawson-Roby reveals racism and sexism that occurs within the business world. Anise Miller is a strong, educated Black woman. When she discovers that she is often overlooked for job advancement she makes real life decisions to change her situation. But, at what costs? Lawson-Roby's characters are realistic and have depth. This was another page turner from Kimberla Lawson-Roby.

Summary: Whose Reality?
Review: I've read all of Sister Roby's books and I would be remiss to say this one was comparable to any of her previous work. This was utter trash. Apart from my personal opinions on interracial relationships, the book didn't flow well and I've read creative writing stories by sixth graders that were better than this.

The characters were weak, soap opera-ish and one-dimensional. I realize that sometimes fact is stranger than fiction, but come on...Who in their right mind (some of you know what I mean when I say "right mind") would run into the arms of a white man when their spouse has left them for a white person, goes to work everyday to be betrayed by white folks and then in the end is still pushed aside by said white man?

Every page seemed to be a PSA for the Rainbow Coalition as well as justification and rationalization. If you're going to do it, at least do it well.
Trash. Just trash.

Summary: good book--keeps you reading
Review: this was a good book--but I didn't like the epilogue ending, it was like out of left field....you will see what I am talking about......I have read all of Roby's novels and have not been disappointed yet....keep them coming.......

Summary: A Real Page Turner
Review: Kimberly Lawson Roby is at the top of her game. A Taste Of Reality was a book that I just could not put down. I completed it in 1 1/2 days. I'm recommending it to all of my friends.
