Summary: Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego
Review: "On account of there ain't no zeros, I give you a one."

I hope the software technogeeks had a good time designing this monster, because neither I nor my grandchildren (ages 8 and 12) had any fun trying to make it go. It is not very interactive: one has to spend a lot of time listening to the characters recite their lines with no ability for the user to click out. And the subject matter the characters talk about is often rather uninteresting as well.

The real killer, though, is that the clues for catching the criminals are so sketchy that we could not follow them. The software developers were so absorbed with their technical abilities to make a slick and cool format for this latest edition they forgot this is a children's program. They took a great educational game that kids really enjoyed and destroyed it.

I wish I had not spent my money on this software.

Summary: Software Review for Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego
Review: As a teacher, I love to see kids getting an opportunity to play fun educational games on the computer. However, it is difficult to find many edutainment software titles that are age-appropriate for 9 - 12 year olds. Good, learning-focused software for this age group is often competing with the endless world of games - Playstation, X-Box, etc. Programs that will appeal to kids in this age range have to be entertaining and visually sophisticated, as well as provide educational value. "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?" does this and does it quite well. Featuring sophisticated graphics and a compelling storyline, Carmen delivers an energetic mix that combines solid, skill-building activities with an intriguing plot.
Carmen offers kids an exceptional method of learning about the world in an educational but entertaining manner. The game will really test their skills as geographers. While trying to hunt down bad guys, they learn about cultures, history, languages, and locations. Because the kids are exposed to geography facts within the framework of adventure, the learning opportunities are fantastic. While kids learn key facts about 50 countries - their geography and history - they also read maps, exercise deductive reasoning, develop reading and research skills, follow directions, and collect data. It is easy to recognize the program exercises their higher-level thinking skills.
I found this program reinforces the very skills I am trying to teach - how to get kids to think and apply the higher-level thinking skills. Beware! They learn to think! They have fun! It is the best of both worlds for them and me, and I love it!!

Summary: Who in the World Doesn't Love It?
Review: Before Broderbund software pops the question- ' Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?', what arises in one's head is ' Who in the World is Carmen Sandiego?'Cloaked in red, hat askew on her auburn cascade of hair, a malicious grin playing on her lipstick soaked lips, is the World's Queen of Crime- Carmen Sandiego. And as an Acme agent, it's your mission to snare the peripatetic pilferer and land her in the clink.
But that's no easy job- as Carmen, with a truckload of thirty- nine cohorts is out to steal everything in the world worth treasuring. Her notorious network has fifty nations in its clutches, and only the cleverest and most cunning agents the world has to offer can dare to ever match up their wits with her. Now the fun begins.
Carmen sends out one sidekick and he robs a country of an extremely prized monument, possession or landmark. Your Acme Chief then transports you to the scene of the crime, where the crook has vanished from. To catch onto the trail, you interrogate the local public on what the crook looked like, and where he was probably headed next. The colourful folk of the world answer your questions with indirect answers that act as clues to a certain nation. Also, their descriptions help you put together a picture of Carmen's crony. Thus, grabbing flights from country to nation with the click of a mouse, you hunt down the hot trail of the crook, knocking on the door of the beauty, sights and sounds and cultures of the globe while you're at it. Chat with the Chinese with the Great Wall of China and oriental music flowing in the background. Swoop down from the snows of Iceland to the desert sands of Egypt. All just sitting on your computer chair.
And finally, a place comes where the crook is roaming around and trying to mingle with the crowd, you look up the physical profile you've gathered, and gotcha! An arrest- and you've cracked the case. After another thirty-eight challenging and entertaining cases that take you across the savannahs, up Mayan pyramids and in front of the Taj Mahal, one is up against the ultimate chalenge- Carmen Sandiego herself. Summary: Carmen Sandiego: Review
Review: Carmen Sandiego is a very good learnig game, because the player must find out where certain cities are in certain countries. The game provents you from geussing, because there is a time-limmit.
The game also test your skills: based upon knowing alternitive words, for the basic words a child would know.
The game also teaches a child different langueges to play the game, it really isn't hard to do that. The basics to the game is that you fly to different places over the world asking where the crook might be, and what they look like. Once the player has issued a warrent, they must areest the crook. Good Luck!!

Summary: very interesting
Review: Even as old as the game is now, and how long ago I bought it, I still have the urge to play it every now and then. It is addicting and educational at the same time. It isnt too easy nor too hard which is why my little brother adores it, loving the cartoon-like characters that he gets to direct. Technically, the game is good. I had no trouble installing it on several different machines, and there were hardly any problems playing it. It's definetly worth the money.

Summary: Fun and Educational Game
Review: I been playing this since I was ten. This game was very helpful, it produced information different countries around without making it sound boring as the text books in school did. Also, the game was very easy to play and the clues were quite weird at sometimes, but it held my intrest. Even though you could not click off the people who kept repeating the same things the game was still fun!

Summary: very educational game not only for kids but for adults alike
Review: i have this software about 7 years ago and my nephew was only 8 years old then but he just loved playing the game. he used to play it everytime he comes home from school that he soon got to learn about the different places in the world, learn about world geography:the peoples, cultures & products of the different countries. and most of all, he just loved catching the crooks and really had a fun time with the game. even his mother and my other sister also enjoyed playing the game with him. two years after that however, a virulent virus "killed" my software of carmen sandiego and so my younger nieces didn't get the chance to enjoy it as much as their older brother did. i've been looking for this kind of software ever since but i guess it was not just available here in our country (or maybe it's just very difficult to look for one here). i've found out that it is available at amazon.com and, boy, i'm so glad!

Summary: Okay but.....
Review: I was disappointed. We bought this because we first had Where in the USA is Carmen. Unlike that one, this one ends and there are no alternate missions...
