Summary: Helped my son a lot
Review: Before getting this program, my son suffered in spelling. Now, he gets 100 percent on almost all his tests. The software installed easily and performs flawlessly. I especially like the fact I can put in my words and record my voice speaking the words. My son particularly likes the word search and crossword options.

Summary: Buggy, does not meet expectations
Review: I bought this program a few days ago to help teach spelling to my kids. I am homeschooling my 4 children, so good teaching aids are a must.

The major complaint with this program is that it has numerous bugs that make many of the features unuseable. For instance, I could not get the "record" function to work, which enables the program to verbally call out the words that are entered. My microphone works with other programs. The "help" function (I am being generous when I say help) is worthless. There are several other examples (like with the "save list" function), but I need to discuss the program itself.

This is not a "fun" program, which is required to engage and motivate youngsters. The "games", such as the hangman knockoff, do not promote spelling, merely guessing. The games that promote spelling are boring. My kids lost interest after the first day.

I was expecting a lot more for my money (ie. a program that works), but I did not get it.

Summary: An answer to prayer.
Review: I have been looking for a program for ages that will allow
you to put in your own word lists. When my son brings home
his spelling words each week I am able to enter them in the
program, then he can play all of the games using those words
only. Playing the games which include a word find puzzle,
scrambled words, space alien etc really makes the words stick. My son really enjoys the games. The program even has a typing
lesson using your own word list to reinforce the words even more.
I love it.

Summary: Stinks.
Review: The program came with ultimately no directions whatsover. It is more of a "guessing" game in that your child has to guess what word the program happens to be 'thinking of' at that point. I think thats how we're suppose to use the thing...I wouldn't know for sure as there's no direction given whatsoever. The graphics are extremely simple also. Waste of my money.

Summary: This is the program I would write myself if I had the time!
Review: This is fabulous! This is exactly the kind of program I have been thinking about writing for my kid all year, only better. The best 9.99 I have spent on spelling software. Here's what is so cool about it. My kid gets his homework on Monday, and has until Friday to practice for the spelling test. Well it gets pretty boring writing words over and over on paper. But here, you type and read the words in (he likes to sound silly), and this weeks' spelling list suddenly becomes the word list behind a whole bunch of fun games - the kind you already love to play with your kid - like crosswords, find the hidden word puzzles and more. And there is a typing tool! You look at the screen and see the keyboard, teaching you not to look down. Great idea! Gee, I hope I can get hubby to use THAT feature! This is fun, interactive spelling practice that will get your kid an A on Friday!

Summary: Can't use it. Amazon can't deliver downloads
Review: This is the second download I am attempting to purchase from Amazon and, as it was the case the first time around, Amazon did not deliver. I paid for the download, my order was moved to the 'completed' area but, when I open the 'digital library' I see that the order status is 'open - in process'. My previous order, which I eventually cancelled has been in that state for the past several weeks, before and after the cancellation.

Incidentally, Amazon's customer service is completely unhelpful in this matter. Most of my emails on the topic went unanswered and the answered that I recieved, instead of solving the problem, were telling me where the 'download' button is located. Someone needs to write better scripts for the Help Desk.

Summary: Simple-to-use and fun program!
Review: Unlike some of the reviewers, I found this program very easy to use with a great on-line help system with full documentation on how to do everything. Entry of word lists was a snap and my kids like all of the spelling games. Yes, the graphics are simple, but great learning happens. My kids spelling has improved and they can't wait to try the program with new words.
