Summary: Kaplan SAT/ACT/PSAT Deluxe 2002
Review: I bought the program three months ago and the company hasn't responded to our emails or telephone inquiries. Very, very poor customer service. The software doesn't work and the company refuses to respond or replace the item. Due to software glitches, we cannot use the program. Definitely a waste of money and no assistance to my daughter.

Summary: A Windows XP User's Worst Nightmare!
Review: I bought this program two months before my scheduled SAT test date in May. At first, it worked pretty good. The intros were a little annoying, and the jokes were hardly funny, but I think it helped me learn more about the SAT and the program was customized to focus on my difficulties.

HOWEVER, there is a big catch to this program, and I suggest all of you potential buyers take a close look at the fine print. THIS PROGRAM DOES NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION. I am not quite sure about the professional edition, but it certainly does not work for my home edition of XP. I even checked the Kaplan website to see if it was XP compatible, and it said "Windows 95 or higher," so I figured it was okay. Well, after I was finished with the program and I already took my SAT, I uninstalled the program. BIG MISTAKE! Since then, I have not been able to run the program successfully. I even used the Program Compatibility Wizard to try to run the program in Windows 95, Windows Me/98, and Windows 2000, but it STILL did not work. I further called Kaplan support and they suggested the same thing and basically told me that it was too bad. BUYERS BEWARE! Support is terrible, and I believe this is one of the most important things in buying a software program. Especially a reference tool. I am sure Kaplan had very good intentions, but they obviously haven't considered us new XP users. There is no patch to fix this problem. Please reconsider, and search for a reference program that is certified to work with Windows XP.

Summary: My daughter likes it, so do I
Review: My daughter took the SATs about a month ago, and she was panicked, so I bought this software for her. It seemed like a bargain at the time, given the cost of private tutoring and classes. I had read the information here and other places (like c|net, etc.) and liked what I saw. The reviews here were not very good, but I trusted some of the others more.

The results began almost immediately. My daughter would use this about 3 times a week, and you could see that she was becoming less and less stressed about the test. The proof will of course be when she gets her scores back, but she felt confident, and that was the biggest hurdle to help her over.

As for why I liked it, the paying for school and newsweek guide to colleges helped me sort through my responsibilities as a parent, what the financial aid picture will look like for us, and what the campuses she is considering are like - without having to drive to each one.

If your youngster is struggling with standardized tests, and you're not sure what to do, buy this software. You'll be glad you did, and the panic attacks are fewer.

Summary: Software Glitches Crash Computer
Review: Poor customer service--no response to my son's Email after 2 weeks, and phone hold time over 20 minutes--resulting in no help. The SAT program crashed 3 different computers upon attempt at installation, so we can't find out if the program is good or not. Our time is more valuable than this. The ACT program disk seems to work fine, but that was not our primary interest. What can I say. This kind of thing is unacceptable in a computer program disk these days.

Summary: SAT REVIEW
Review: this was a overall good program, the jokes are corny- but it teaches you a couple of tricks for the SAT. also the songs are kinda of annoying. but its all good i got what i needed out of the program, so if u have a little patience for the graphics to eat up your RAM (i have a p4) this is a good program.

Summary: Very Child like
Review: When I bought this program I wanted software that would allow me to comfortabley study for the SAT. When I installed it onto my computer I found a program that seems to target the elementry school age child. I started resenting opening the program to study because of the childlike program. I was hopeing for something more "adult". Something meant for me. Someone who wants to go to college.

Summary: A terrible program
Review: Words can't express my hate for this program. Intros that you can't escape (especially when you don't have the time to listen to those dumb people) games that have no relevance with SAT matching and such, rather it is a test of your hand-eye coordination and clicking skills. It really is designed for little children. Slow menus, goofy games, makes this product a 1 star. Just because you get 5 in 1 doesn't mean that quantity overtakes quality.

Summary: This program has me TOTALLY prepared for Saturday!
Review: wow. I can't believe the other reviews of this piece of software. I bought it in September, when I got back to school. My teacher had recommended this one. I found it was really good at helping me calm down, learn to take my time, understand the question behind the questions. The methods for working the math programs, the ways to read those long, dense passages -have all helped me feel totally confident that I'll do well on the SAT. I've been looking at the ACT disk, too. I'm actually thinking that after seeing it, I may take that test too.

My parents loved the Paying for school calculator, it helped them understand how much it's going to cost, and how the heck to pay for it all. And I know better now why so many people have implored me to save money from summer jobs! :)

Some of the jokes were definitely corny, but overall, outstanding practice, great material, and I feel totally prepared for the big day. Thank you Kaplan!
