Summary: it does what it says!
Review: about a week agoi bought this to clean my car cd player lens that was skipping every time i hit the smallest bump. then my dvd player was having problems reading disks and after contacting the manafacturer they said just to use a cd cleaner in it, so i told them what i had and they said it would do fine and it did! now my cd and dvd player ore both skip free and working like new.

Summary: Very happy
Review: Before I bought this lens cleaner I had owned my DVD player for a year and had played more than 100 DVDs. I never thought about cleaning the DVD player when I began having a lot of trouble with new and old DVDs skipping and stopping. With one cleaning though the problem was cleared up the performance of my DVD player improved dramatically.

The instructions on this product are pretty easy to follow. And it only took one cleaning to see the improvement. After the first use you'll see how cleaning only takes about 20 seconds so it's not time-consuming whatsoever.

Summary: Will not help with car stereos
Review: I cannot help but wonder how this device helped two other people who used it on car stereos. Car CD players have a front loading mechanism, as opposed to a tray or top loading, and the instructions specifically say not to use it -- bacause this damages the brushes. If the brushes are out of alignment, as they should be after using the cleaner in the car stereo, the device will do nothing for your CD player. It helped a little with my CD-ROM, but I highly doubt it could ever solve the neverending issue of a dirty car CD player.

Summary: Does just what it says: recommended
Review: I confess to being a little wary (of damage... knocking the lens etc) before trying this product.

It is a specially-designed CD which has eight tiny tufts of what look like soft nylon bristles which the lens encounters and is gently and rapidly swiped by as you 'play' the track on the CD to which they are attached.

Immediately after performing the pretty quick cleaning operation I definitely noticed more 'bloom' to the sound from both speakers (Classe amp/CD with Logan electrostatics).

So, yes, the product was safe for me, does what it says, is well-priced and effective; I would recommend it.

Summary: not good
Review: My car CD player stopped playing altogether, this did nothing for it. I put them on my working CD players and have heard no noticeable difference.

I'm sure this will work for some people, but the amount of people it will actually help is probably a very small percentage of those who actually buy it.

If you're curious, the cleaner is just a CD with brushes on the bottom. :( There's a bunch of talking on the tracks about how to keep your CD dust-free or something but I didn't listen to that. =(

Waste of money for me.
