Summary: Exciting and disappointing
Review: Before I purchased a copy of C3, I had played a demo of the game and found it very interesting. I'm interested in ancient history and conquest, and the levels provided in the demo I tried were simple, but stimulating, much like the SimCity titles have been. However, when I actually tried the full version, I was disappointed. The first few directives you fulfill for Caesar are interesting and fun and can be challenging for the beginning player. But as I continued on with later missions, I started to get tired of the tedium of maintaining residences, trying to influence house growth, etc. The most fun for me was the warfare aspect of the game... being able to control your own phalanxes of Roman soldiers is a real kick. After several hours of trying to get your prosperity level up one or two points, however, (and this is required to proceed to the next level) even hacking up barbarians and Gauls gets old. So my advice would be to check out the game, but do it with caution. It is an interesting premise, but it definitely needs some tweaking.

Summary: Caesar 3 is possibly the best simulation.
Review: Caesar 3 made me feel as if I was in Rome. My class is studying Rome now, and the game has nearly everything a Roman city needed and had. I would recommend this game to anyone.

Summary: Great SimCity type game.
Review: Caesar III is a great game if you like the Sim City type city building sim. There is not too much conquest (e.g. Command and Conquer gameplay), as you can only assert direct control over your military units.

The major challenge is to create a stable environment that sims will want to move into and work in. The includes building housing areas, markets, resource collection areas, trading bazaars, etc. If you do a good job, people will move in and work in all your buildings, allowing the city to make more money and grow.

If you are interested in the above, I would highly recommend this game.

Summary: Not as good as Pharoah, but still a classic
Review: Caesar III provides an addictive and unique gameplay. You get to be a Roman governor, and conrtol the lives of your people. The game becomes habit forming if you get engrossed in it enough too. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes history and city building games alike.

Summary: Ceasar III is a very addicting game... Great fun for Mac.
Review: Dear Readers:

I've had this game for 5 weeks now...spent many a night up to 4 in the morning trying to keep out enemy troops (Roman and others) while paying back the Roman emperor. Game is fun for me and my 8 year old daughter. She likes to build a city but does not like the soldiers fighting that much.

You'll need a powerful (G3) or better machine to play this and a large screen (17") or more is highly recommended.

Great game... but my wife will not give it back until all the X-Mass shopping is done!

Summary: Very Addictive Caesar 3
Review: I found Caesar 3 a great mix between to the build-characteristics of Sim City and the goal-orientation of Civilization. The foundation of the cities isn't merely a random addition of buildings or people but much more structured than what I would have thought. Each level brings new challenges to face which you don't get with Sim City. I found myself "glued" to my computer both building and trying to figure out how to reach the goals. A must buy for a true strategist.

Summary: A fantastic game with one HUGE problem...
Review: I have not played any other "sim" or City Builder games before - this was my first. I was drawn to this game by my fascination for ancient Rome. I was not dissapointed. The game brings you up through a series of cities of increasing difficulty and as you progress, so does your rank. You have succeeded in a city when certain raitings have risen enough. Eventually, the goal is to achieve the rank of Caesar.

This is so well done and interesting. I found myself intrigued and addicted, but then came the game's big flaw... at a certain point it is next to impossible to get your prosperity rating up. I have never met a game I could not beat, but I am stuck on this one and losing my desire to finish it. I am stuck in a loop of rebuilding and refining to get that prosperity rating up, but nothing seems to get it up enough.

I have a talent for minute details, for going over every little aspect of something until you have found the flaw or solution. This game has me befuddled. Eventually, you will want to get some fresh air or move onto another game, which is a disappointment if you have invested so much time in this one.

Sierra Studios has announced that they will not longer make games for the Mac platform, citing poor sales of Caesar III as their primary reason. Perhaps they should admit that there's a major flaw in an otherwise perfect game and try again. The market is there.

Summary: Greatest game I ever played!
Review: I have played lots of games, but never have I seen one as good as Caesar III...It was great (still is)! I would recomend thid game to almost anyone. It perfect for people who like simulations and things like that. You get different tasks from Caesar and you get to choose, after the first 2 missions if you want the next task to be "peaceful" or "dangerous." You can also go to the "City Construction Kit" where you have no goal except your own. It's really good. You probably should start out with the demo, like me. You'll probably like it.

Summary: Great game
Review: I recently downloaded a demo of this game and was completely enthralled with it. The demo only gives you 2 areas to try but it gets you hooked. After the demo, I am looking forward to the full version.

If you aren't sure about this game, go download the demo, and you will see how trully great this game is.
