Summary: SUSE 9.1 OK but It Trashed Windows
Review: OK. I liked the linux distro and the included apps. However, When I tried to boot into Windows, my computer wouldn't do so. However, I was able to restore my Windows using Norton Rescue files. Until June 25, I thought I had done something stupid while installing Linux. However, quoting from the SUSE support database, "The partitioning tool 'parted' which YaST uses during the installation may write an incorrect partition table." It goes on to describe details and a possible fix. However, the fix is a compressed file which seems to require a Linux native decompression utility. Since Linux was removed during the restore operation, I am unable to try and evaluate the fix. Much as I want Suse 9.1 Linux on my computer, I will not risk damaging my Windows installation until updated installation disks with correct drivers are available and have proven successful when used by others. Based on my experience, I would warn against buying this version if your Windows installation is important to you. Much as I liked what this distribution offered, I really need my Windows applications. I do not plan to reinstall this distribution and no longer have it.

Summary: Very impressive
Review: SuSe 9.1 was very impresive, the graphics were amazing! Better then MS Windows or any other Linux Ditrobution. Oh and please don't listen to the (currently)1 negative review, Instead try it out for your self for free! Download the Live cd iso from here- http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/ftp/live_eval_int.html then just reboot your computer into that cd. I mean after I saw the way it looked and how fast it worked even on a live cd, there was no way I was not buying this. As far as MS Office compatiblity I have had no problems, and 99.9999% of users don't. Suse Linux 9.1 Is a great stable O.S. capable of worry free internet access, unbeatable stability, and is the most usable Linux distrobution I have seen. And If your worrid about the common lie that Linux has no apps available for it, don't! Heres a few commercial games that have been made for the Linux Platform, Ut2004/2003, Neverwinter Nights, Return to Castle Wolfinstien, Savage, Tribes2, Civiliztion Call to Power, Descent 3, Heavy Gear II, Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.2, Heroes of Might and Magic III, Heretic II, Myth II: Soulblighter, Quake III Arena, and ill stop there(even though there are more) There is so much availiable for linux and even more is coming every day.

Summary: SuSE 9.1
Review: SuSE has outdone themselves this time, this software rocks.
yast2 is at it's excellent best, making SuSE the easiest Linux to use.
if you want it free, do an ftp install, if you want disks( like i do) buy it. it's not like it's not affordable.
personal is fine for everyday users, and corporate users will find pro to their liking.
SuSE Rocks.

Summary: Be aware of 5 star reviews
Review: Suse linux leaves a lot to be desired, trying to get packages to work, or finding them and installing requires a degree in rocket science. Another problem, no software applications of any use are available, Openoffice just does not cut it and it does not convert files over correctly. Overall not a good time with this, just made me more aware of why MicroSoft Windows it the most popular operating system on earth.

Summary: SuSe 9.1 Pro
Review: The previous review commented on Suse's proprietary installer. I assume he was referring to YaST. As far as I know, YaST is no longer proprietary (it used to be but has since been changed) and this hasn't stopped Suse from allowing you to download the personal edition for free from their site. This allows you to see if Professional might be something you would want to by for it's added software.

I found hardware support to be better than ever, with improvements over my prevous version of Suse 8.2 pro.

Summary: SUSE 9.1 Pro just ROCKS!
Review: This has got to be the best Linux distro ever. For beginners, it is so easy to install and use, while for the intermediate/guru- it allows for tweaking and tuning. This baby comes with so much software, it's simply unbelievable. I love installing from DVD-

The new kernel and KDE 3.2 are welcomed advancements. My SUSE 9.1 machine simply flys! OpenOffice 1.1.1 is great too. It does everything the MS Ofice does- it can even read MS Office files. I don't miss the Windoows world one bit... as a matter of fact, now that I don't have to worry about virus attacks or spyware anymore... I can surf the Internet pretty much carefree. It's a wonderful feeling indeed.

Summary: Very clunky
Review: To best describe Suse linux 9.1 is to describe Windows 3.1 several years ago. It is slow loading, very fuzzy looking and overall feeling unorganized setup. I was very disappointed in this software, now on to Office suites eek! The worst of all, OpenOffice is sloow loading, it takes eons for it to load up and what happened to spell check?
Another problem, web-browsers do any of them actually work right? Plug-ins, do NOT work right, no playing mp3's, no playing quicktime movies and so on.

Back to Windows XP Pro, something that works, and gets the job done without a hundred menu items that are meaningless.
