Summary: ...Just called Ubi...
Review: ... they confirmed everything he said. The rep told me all Ubi games come this way now, and that you'll need a standard CDROM or DVDROM to install the game.

Summary: just finished 2nd level...
Review: Any fan of the 1st Splinter Cell will not be disappointed. This game is pretty amazing. The gameplay is pretty similar to the 1st, the levels seem to be much the same, and there have been a few outdoor missions thrown into the mix. The enemy A.I. is a little better this time around, I think. They've added a whistle to the distraction arsenal and I've used it a couple times successfully. The other additions are the 1/2 split jump and the SWAT turn. The graphics are what makes this game so good. I've been floored by some things like the village, the subway station, the morgue, and the train. The light/shadow and motion physics are fantastic. I haven't played online yet, but I'll get to it.
That's one downside to the game-HEFTY system requirements. I've got a P4 2.0 Gig 256MB RAM and 128MB nVidia GeForce FX 5200 and it runs smooth except for a few minor drags usually when loading a level or saving, but nothing too bad. This game is incredible but I don't know if I'd recommend this to anyone with a "slower" system than mine, it might not be worth it. Just use the game as an excuse to upgrade your PC.

Summary: Be Careful!!!
Review: Be careful when you buy this. Your video card has to supprt pixal shading. I bought a DELL less than a year ago and my video card is not good enough. Make sure you check if your card is on the supported video card list. Otherwise, you'll spend 40 bucks on something you can't use.

Summary: Very unimpressed.
Review: First I'd like to note that the first Splinter Cell was a very enjoyable game. This game has all the aspects of the first one when it comes to unique shading and excellent graphics, however, they didn't do anything new. It was like an add-on pack at best. Also for being such a large game (nearly twice the size of the first one) I would have expected it to be longer. The game is very short, there are many levels with zero body count and the story doesn't really go anywhere. Not to mention there wasn't any new weapons or special moves added. ***SPOILER*** What's worse is you don't even get to kill the two "bosses", they're just spy missions!.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.
Review: First of all if you do not have ahigh end system this game WILL NOT WORK even with the patchs installed.Second i loaded this game on a $5,000 AlienWare system and still it took me TWO DAYS to get it up and running.
O.K. the game play and graphics are nothing special and the game play is so LINEAR that if you do not do the exact thing at exactly the right time you will get detected or killed.Case in point on the Paris train mission if you move too fast and do not go with the programming pace you will have to repeat and repeat the same thing over and over.
This game was $40.00 wasted thanks Ubi-Soft,and all those good reviews are probably UBi-Soft employees.Talk to your friends and check the websites this game is 90% bugged.

Summary: CDRW issues?
Review: First off I install it. This game seems to have bad graphic driver support. Worked with my ATI Radeon 9700 pro with most up to date even though didn't like it. I boot game up was very good looking but for some reason I ocasionally get game errors, with no clue why out of the blue.

The singel player game it self is short and alot easier than the first one. I very much think first one is alot better, this game disapointed very much I am telling my friends to not buy and if they wish they can come play mine or borrow it and get disapointed themselves.

The multiplayer is fun however, nobody is playing, then when they do they want to go deathmatch, I didn't buy this type of game for death match, however if you can get matches going this can be fun here.

Overall I think the single player was to easy. Multiplayer would totally rock if game servers were more populated. Who knows maybe in a month or two.

Summary: Get over it!!
Review: Hey look, give me a break with your pitiful whining. You can get a CD-ROM for about $10. You can get a DVD-ROM for about $25. It takes about 10 seconds to install. If your PC doesn't have room for two optical drives, you probably won't be able to play this game anyway so stop it already. Most games, all makers, tell you its not recommended to play them on a CD-RW anyway.
Now, back to the game. The original was excellent. It looked good. It was unique, and it had an excellent feel about it. I'm sure this will be just as good.

Summary: Well...
Review: Hey, guys. You freaked me out a little with the whole CD-RW don't work discussion. I have a CD/DVD burner without a second read-only drive. But I bought the game anyway and it works fine, just as the original Splinter Cell did. I haven't played it much yet but it seems pretty baaad.... as in good.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!!
I just beat the single player game on Hard. Seems like it was a little easier than the last Splinter Cell.

Summary: CDRW issues?
Review: I agree with the reviewers that have had problems with the copy protection. I just installed the game, and when I tried to run it, got a message saying something like "Please disable CD/DVD emulation software and restart the game." Well.. I DID have Virtual CloneDrive running, and I use it for 100% non-piracy purposes. I quit that app, then reran SC:PT a few times and got the same results. SO THE GAME DOESN'T RUN, and I have no emulation software running.

This is extremely bad form for a game, and I'm tempted to just ask for a refund instead of trying to work around the problem. How could they do this crap to their paying customers? DON'T BUY THIS GAME. We should be protesting poorly-tested copy protection schemes (which are always going to be cracked anyway). After paying $$ for a game, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS LIKE THIS.
