Summary: This game rocks.
Review: A friend of mine has the beta. I went to his house and made an undead rogue. Just as Blizzard says, there is no farming off bats and rats. You start off on small quests and then go further and further from the city. You become level two after the first quest or two and a bit of zombie killing.
Many people believe that this game will be bad, since Blizzard has never made an MMORPG, but those people have never played the beta. All of these people are obsessive EQ fans that, for some reason, will not do anything besides play their precious Everquest. (...)

Summary: I pity other MMORPG developers
Review: Awesome game.

1) Game technology
WOW doesn't bring anything new to the genre. There are no dynamic quests or terrain altering effects. There's no global strategy.

What WOW did was take existing technology and implement it better. You get quests, just like other games of this type, but WOW quests are bigger, better and much, much more plentiful. I have leveled from 1 to 60 and always had multiple quests waiting to be done. I had to skip a number of them -- by the time you've done most of the quests, you're ready to move to a higher level area, meaning some quests will still be new to you if you level a second character. There are combat skills and spells, just like other games of this type, but WOW has more of them with more tactical options that really gives you something to think about as you fight your way to the top. There are dungeons, just like other games of this type, but WOW dungeons range from "medium" to "superhuge". Other games have loot, WOW has more loot, with more variety, meaning less of a huge gap between the "haves" and "have nots".

Etc. WOW doesn't do anything really new, it just took what the genre already had and made it all better.

2) PvP
Player versus player action is optional but I recommend giving it a shot. Normal servers have 100% consensual PvP. You must do something specific before you can attack or be attacked. PvP servers have it opened up by dividing the world into three types of areas: Horde, Alliance and Contested.

In a Horde zone, Alliance can be attacked at will but they cannot fire until fired upon. Vice versa for Alliance zones. These are basically the lowest level zones, from around level 1-20 or so. You can get your feet planted and learn your class and get some abilities before you have to worry about being attacked.

Contested zones are "team PvP". Horde and Alliance can attack each other on sight. You cannot attack your own team (except in special Arenas). There are no level limits -- a level 60 can squish a level 30 if they are both in a contested zone.

However, unlike many other PvP games, level differences are diluted. The level 30 will not be completely helpless. Though his weapons and spells will do much less damage and he will be physically weaker, he can at least fight enough that a level 60 facing a group of level 30's will be facing a likely death -- death by pinpricks, but they can definately impact him. My secondary character is a Warlock, and at level 26 my "Fear" spell works pretty well even against level 60's. They show up to murder me for a free win because I'm so small and feeble, they think again as I cast Fear on them, which sends them running away uncontrollably as I high-tail it in the other direction and hide behind a tree.

3) Blizzard's "no tollerance" policy.
Sony Online Entertainment is notorius for allowing hackers and cheaters and troublemakers to continue to play the game. Blizzard is notorius for banning them from the field. This is excellent. As with any game, hacks and cheats get made and discovered, but Blizzard is quick to find these people and suspend their accounts.

Like a good referee, Blizzard keeps the game fair for honost players and I appreciate that as much as any technical aspect of the game.

I can't say enough good about it, this game rocks, it's by far the best MMORPG yet.

We can quibble over the graphical style, class balance or "lag", but issues like that are almost immaterial. MMORPG's all update, graphics change, class balance changes, lag issues come and go, it's the same from UO to EQ2. The important thing is that the design is solid, the content is solid, the mechanics are solid, WOW is going to be the game to play for the forseeable future. I honostly pity other MMORPG developers because unless they invent something totally new, I don't see how they can draw the fantasy RPG crowd away from World of Warcraft.

Summary: A MUST HAVE!
Review: Blizzard has never let me down. I've seen the screenshots, I've heard about gameplay. WoW will be the king of this generation's MMO. I've played UO, DAoC and many other MMO's. But at one point, the entire game goes downhill. Why? I mainly blame it on 'rushed' programming. The exception is EQ. It was almost perfect, but Sony completely unbalanced the game with their supposedly 'amazing' expansion packs. But Blizzard has learned from past mistakes. They aren't rushing. This is the game for all you hardcore gamers out there.

Summary: Could this be the game that everyones waiting for?
Review: Blizzard has published many fine games such as Diablo series, Starcraft series, and finally, the Warcraft series. Many people played it like they were on drugs or hooked on it and many people still plays endlessly. Now, that a new Warcraft game is being developed and soon to be published, everyones excited. I know that I am excited but my only worry is that Blizzard might fail to make a classic RTS game to a MMORPG. Sure, Blizzard has made Diablo which is RPG but this game is very different from the game Diablo.
1. It is a Warcraft game, not Diablo.
2. It is a massively multiplayer online which can go up to thousands of people online.
3. It doesn't have everything that Diablo or Warcraft players are looking for.

Yes, I have tried the beta and it is NOT like Diablo and of course, not Warcraft. Since the originals were RTS, it would've have been better off sticking to RTS elements but hey don't get me wrong, they are trying something new and it might be better than anyone expected.

As results from the beta, I can tell you this game is somewhat similar to Guild Wars and Knight Online but this game is one of the top MMORPG that is about to be released. Best way to make sure if you want the game or not is to just try the beta first and make your decision. Hope you like it. See you online!

Summary: looks good
Review: but looks can be misleading. World of warcraft(i am hoping) will be as they are saying a MMORPG but faster paced (more action) most games of this genre are boring to me there fun and all but spending 15 hours pressing a button and then clicking the mouse about 6 times during a period of two minutes about 250 times until you finally get a level (everquest) isnt my idea of fun. The graphics on this game look a little under the standard of say everquest II but like i said looks can be decieving and hpefuly thi game will deliver

Summary: Just another pre-release review
Review: First, I'll say that I absoultely HATE pre-release reviews. I wish there was a stronger word than that. But, I feel compelled as an avid Blizzard gamer and clan owner/leader to clear some things up.

World of Warcraft is an M.M.O.R.P.G. It is a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game. It will take place in many different worlds with the same worlds replicated on brand new servers.
There are 5, repeat 5, races to play. There are the Tauren (bull like creatures), the Orcs, the Dwarves (and yes, there will be Dwarven muskets available), the Humans, and my favorite The NIGHT ELVES! Both genders will be playable, and equally effective in all aspects of the game. Blizzard says there will be more playable races, but we'll see. All characters will be able to swim and there will be lots of water as well as underwater levels. Characters will not need to eat or drink ever. Blizzard says there will be positive benefits associated with eating and drinking though.
You can form bands of 5 men or guilds of more. Look for my Guild on whatever the U.S. West server is.My alias will be Lord Faramir. Our colors (you get to choose a design for your guild) will be red and something else. There are 3 classes out so far. They are Mage, Shaman, and warrior. Hopefully there will be more. There will be several aspects of the game much like diablo. In WoW there will be 1st and 3rd person perspectives.
Battles will not be a "clickfest". When you attack a creature, your character will keep attacking, but there will be certain things you can change during the battle. There will be vast new expanses of land players have seen before and haven't. Unlike diablo, your heakth will regenerate on its own, and you can't just consume potions like crazy. You get potions, but there will be a "cooldown" time after you've used a potion before you can take the next one. Of course, we all know Blizzard changes things so don't take my word as holy writ. Plus, the beta test won't be out for another year. Just look forward to this. And not to mention, Starcraft 2.

Summary: If I could, I would give this game negative stars.
Review: I cannot stand this game. I played it for a couple hours at my friends house and there is absolutely no point except to gain levels and find REALLY NEAT ITEMS. There is never any storyline beyond the fact that the Horde and Allies are at war or some crap; then of course the sub-stories of "Gimli needs to get laid! Find 5 hot dwarf women so he can be kept busy for the entire work week!" Games like this have plenty of fancy graphics and so on, but honestly present no challange. If you die you simply run back to your corpse and it's no big deal. Any other game if you die it's game over or you're one step closer to a game over because you lost one of your extra men.

As far as combat or socialism, yes it has a neat combat system, but it's the same damn crap as EQ, all over again. Then, as far as socializing, thats total BS in a game. The social factor (which some people apparently just lvoe about MMORPGs) is not the point of the game. You want social interaction? Get out of your nasty computer chair, step away from the computer, look at yourself in the mirror, and then realise why you have no friends. You dont go out to make any; The friends you DID have, have all moved on since you refuse to do anything with them anymore since it's always "just a second I am in a quest, I am about to level."

Bull S*** like this is marketed towards weak minded ham-beasts and land-whales that just cant get enough /dance action from the female night elves. Anyone wunna join my online wedding? Anyone wunna cyb3r? lolz!!!! j/k, I got +3 Cloth Robe of the Fox.

This game to me has no redeeming qualities past the first few hours of playing, because by then I am tired of the turnbased "action" which I can usually stand if there is an actual story involved somewhere.
