Summary: A very good expansion pack to an amazing game!
Review: Alien vs Predator 2 is my favourite computer game of all time and I feel that this expansion pack helps to complete the game.

Let's face it, there is no way that you could top the 1 player in Avp 2, it is just the best first person shooter game I ever played and the thought that it could get any better is mind boggling. The 1 player missions in this version are shorter because there are only 9 of them, however keep in mind that this is just an expansion, not a stand alone game so I wasn't really expecting more, some people may have set their expectations a little high (just like a movie sequel). However this is still a very good fps game and I think the makers were trying to make something slightly different from the first AvP 2 so things don't get too repetative. The fact is that most people don't want you to mess with a good thing. This expansion packs storyplot ties in with AvP2's storyplot, its sort of a prequil.

-I like Dunya's missions because you get to use the sentry guns and the turret gun for the first time, and you also can use duel pistols-like in the first AvP where you could use duel pistols, but AvP2 dropped that for some reason. Most of Dunya's missions still keep some of the creepy atmosphere as in AvP 2 so I would rate the Corporate mercinery's missions as a success.
-The Acient Predator's missions are also good, you get to hunt some wild animals at the beginning and then get frozen and wake up in a strange time. The energy flachette is an okay weapon, its about the only rapid firing weapon the predator has, however I never use it anyway. What I really love is when we get implanted by the face hugger, great story twist if you ask me, and where you die, the predalien picks up.
-I found the predaliens missions to be rather disappointing, because out of the three missions you get, 2 are used up as a facehugger and a chest burster, even AvP 2 only used one mission for your life cycle. However the remaining mission for the predalien is pretty good and I'm glad the makers let you head bite now, I never really understood why they took away the predaliens inner mouth in the first place, why would the predalien burst without an inner mouth? The drone from a human has one, the runner from a quadroped has one, there is no reaon to take it out.....Well Primal Hunt didn't actually put it in, but you can still head bite which is important because you get barely any health from slashing the corpses, and if you look closely, the predalien's headbite still doesn't give you very much health.

Now the improvements in multiplayer are where the game really shines! AvP2:Primal Hunt included the things that AvP2 left out, There are new levels, including the dropzone which allows humans to use sentry guns and turret guns, and a few more new levels with sentry guns (and the marines and corporates can use duel pistols). You also can use the new acient predator in multiplayer which you couldn't use before. I like the new predator cloak too, because unlike the oringinal AvP2, your oponents can't highlight your name while your cloaked, whick may not sound like a very big deal, but it makes a huge difference when you are stalking a human because humans basically shoot at watever name they highlight. As the predator you are still practically impossible to see by a human if you DON'T MOVE and I am seen much more frequntly by people in the original AvP2 when I'm stalking them then I am in Primal Hunt, and you can stay cloaked for longer. I'm kind of confused as to the reason why the health bar and energy bars are red now, its not as pretty to look at but whatever. You can also use the energy flachette (no big deal) but, of course lets not forget the best thing about being a pred in multiplayer now...You can slef destruct! This isn't really a good or effective weapon...but, let's face it...you can't not self destruct! I feel like a real pred when I blow myself up rather then give my opponents the kill! Improvements on the aliens are of course the fact that the predalien can head bite, some people don't like this but it is necissary when your the predalien, its tough enough to survive in muliplayer as it is, let alone without the ability to gain health, and the game kept it as fair as possible seeing as you don't get much health in the first place, if your down to minimal helth, you need to bite like 5 heads to get back to full health, and the predalien is also the slowest of the aliens. Another alien improvement is that facehuggers and chestbursters can open vents now, and when your character is stunned, you can move just a little so your not completely helpless. Oh, and I also noticed that your name doesn't have a number in front of it anymore, which is small but I dont understand why we had numbers in front of our names in the first place. There are less servers on all the time on this version, there's less choices, however I feel less overwelmed and its easier to find your friends that you make online

So in conclusion, if you really enjoyed Aliens vs Predator 2 and you like its multiplayer, I encourage you to get the expansion pack Aliens vs Predator 2: Primal Hunt, its not very expensive and its deffinelty worth it, and if you've never played AvP2, get the gold version if you like the alien and predator movies or just shooting games for that matter. I'm going to go play some multiplayer on Primal Hunt now, my servers are usually re-enactments of the alien or predator movies, or of Alien vs Predator. I pride myself on being the first server to host movie remakes (unfortunetly many servers are copying me now) and my re-enactments are always very accurate to the movie, more accurate then any other server. If your ever playing on the multiplayer look me up, my name is G () Z M O <RAT>.

Summary: Great Game - Way too Short Single Player Missions
Review: Although the game this is based on is an excellent game, this expansion is going to disappoint a lot of people. The gameplay, what there is of it, is very good, but the single player games are extremely short. There are 3 single player modes, Corporate (Marine), Predator and Predalien. The human single player episode took me about 3 hours to solve. The Predator version took about 2.5 hours. The Predalien version took 4 hours, mostly because some of the room exits were very subtly placed and difficult to find. So for me, this expansion was around 9.5 hours total game time. For single player missions, this is extremely short! The original AvP2 single player games took over 16 hours each, to complete.

Don't waste your money until they add significantly more content...

Summary: What a disappointment
Review: As a fan of AVP2 I anxiously awaited the release of the Primal Hunt expansion pack. What a disappointment! Apparently Sierra/Fox/Monolith et al were more interested in their upcoming NOLF2 and contracted this project out. The new company's effort seems to be completely clueless as to what made the original game so great. It's atmosphere and plot, guys -- not simply emptying magazines into onrushing hoards of "aliens." More important than actually shooting are the times when you're sure you going to get jumped any second in a darkened passageway. Little things like unexplained explosions, bodies flying through the air, screams from "somewhere", blips on the motion detector add to a whole scary, beautiful atmosphere. A couple new available weapons (dual pistols, energy fleschette) are unnecessary and a little ridiculous. The additional "monsters" (indiginous life on the planet) could have been a good touch to explain how the "bugs" survive without humans and predators to face-hug and chest burst, but they are poorly realized. (Why don't they fight amoung each other or against the bugs who are their real enemy? They only seem to go after humans and Predators). In short, this expansion pack seems designed by people who had little or no feel for the original game. The graphics are a little better but even this is negated when you see a bug running around chasing his tail while you watch. The Predator missions are slightly better, but only slightly. The "Predalien" levels are a waste of time. There's no purpose behind them other than killing humans and solving puzzles in order to move around the halls. One level (the face hugger) even gives you an incorrect objective. It tells you to find a solitary Predator and do the face hug. What it really means is that you have to find the RIGHT solitary Predator. Any other will give a "mission failed" result -- even though you accomplished the goal. If you played the full AVP2 game, I think you'll know that Rykoff and Eisenberg are not exactly nice people. Primal Hunt has you working for them. There's much more, but I think I've said enough. Too bad, this could have been really good.

Summary: Very disappointing
Review: As a huge fan of the Aliens vs. Predator franchise, I was eagerly awaiting the expansion pack to last year's hit Aliens vs. Predator 2. I must say...I was very disappointed.

There are a few changes from the main game, namely that you now play as a 'Predalien'(Alien birthed from a Predator), the Corporate Mercenary Dunya, and an ancient Predator. The Predalien has been given a new 'headbite' attack, to balance it out with the other Alien species. The Corporate Mercenary Dunya has a 360 degree motion tracker(which doesn't work very well) and new dual pistols. The Predator has an 'Energy Flechette', which is basically a wrist mounted laser, and the highly demanded 'Self Destruct', which is far less grand than it sounds and is only available in Multi-player.

And that's about it for the changes. The gameplay is simply more of the same, just harder. A few new indigenous creatures have been added to the planet, which are more of an annoying distraction than anything else...and they are rather poorly conceived, looking like something out of a cartoon.

The level designs are pretty interesting, but so many of the interesting aspects of the original AvP2 have been left out. For example, you will not fight a Predator throughout the entire game. One of the most challenging aspects of the original singleplayer experience was trying to survive and defeat a Predator. The game is basically you against endless tides of Aliens, or marines if you play from the Alien persepctive.

The story is a little weird, full of holes and dull. The events occur immediately before the events of the original AvP2, making this a prequel of sorts. It revolves around an ancient artifact that has the ability to control the Aliens, and all 3 sides want to get their hands(or claws) on it.

Overall, if you just want more AvP2, then you may enjoy this game...just don't expect much out of it. It's simply more of the same, with very little extra thrown in for a 'new' experience. And it is quite short...you could easily blow through it in 4-6 hours if you wanted to.

Summary: great experience
Review: as if the first avp wasnt good enough, now we have extra levels and characters to play with. a lot of people have already used the morph cheat in avp2 to get the predalien, but now its possible to use it normally. and being able to play as a female merc is an innovative way of getting a new fan base, as well as get the attention of its previous fan base. whoever said this game had an odd storyline and odd characters obviously has no sense, or taste in games. i give it 5 stars, only because they wont allow u to choose anymore then 5. =)

Summary: No good, don't buy it
Review: AvP2 is definately a masterpiece of gaming (I am refering to multiplayer, despite all the whiners and cheap weaponry on there), but this game is aweful. The single player is horrible and short, and it damages the multiplayer. How do you make predaliens more invincible and cheap? Give them a headbite so they can recover massive amounts of HP! How do you make it easier for marines to board themselves up in a room, making it impossible for the other two species to kill them? Give them robotic A.I. turret guns! These are things you FIX, not IMPROOVE UPON. Luckily, this is one of the few games that's out where it has a sucky expansion, but everyone plays the expansion anyway. There are an approximate total of only 10 or so servers at any time, most of which are void of players constantly. Everyone still plays AvP2, don't bother with this, there's no reason to get it what-so-ever.

Summary: Great expansion pack
Review: AvP2: Primal Hunt is a great expansion pack for AvP2. If you've liked the game, you'll like what this pack has to offer.
I sort of regret it doesn't offer more missions for each species, if I remember right I think there's only 3 per each, which means 9 new levels total in this pack.
If you've played AvP2 then pick up this expansion pack as well, it will fill in some gaps and tie some lose ends in the story.

Summary: A 500-year old Predator without a walking stick.
Review: Despite the rather odd storyline for this expansion, and even ODDER characters (the predator I've seen in the screenshots looks like a deranged Santa Claus coming out of chemotherapy, there was also that weird dog creature you fight, and the corporate mercenary is a girl, which is not so AvPish compared to the predecessors), the fact that the original game was so good makes up for it. I would also have to say that for a newly released expansion, the price is on the cheaper side. Therefore, if you liked AvP2 a lot, and don't mind odd storylines, I would recommend getting this.

Summary: What do you do when AVP2 is a horror masterpeice, not this
Review: I am a huge fan of the alien and predator movies, despite my age. When I played AVP2, I knew I was hooked. But this is a atrocity!!! partly because the same team that made the original was finishing NOLF2 when the expansion was proposed. What made the original great (horror after horror after horror filled with atmosphere), was traded for action. All you ever do is fight waves and waves of aliens the entire time. Its a shame as it could have been great...... of course on planetavp (a website) they say monolith is toying with the idea of making a second expansion. hmmmmmm
