Summary: Look at the price
Review: It's not a must have game, but look at the price.

If you even remotely like first-person shooters you should buy this game. It's great to see such diversity in the species. Each has very distinct advantages and disadvantages that make the game more enjoyable.

Another great deal is multiplayer online. All first-person shooters are great online and add to the replay value of a game.

It's a good game, but not perfect and the price makes it a must have.

Review: It's not one of my favorites, but I did enjoy playing it. It's certainly worth the money you'd spend.

Summary: AVP Scared Me Good One Night~
Review: Late one night, I was playing AVP. I was a Marine walking down a darkened corridor, strange sounds all around me; I could hear what sounded like a heart thumping. A strobe light flickered in the distance. Suddenly, I wheeled around to look behind me- nothing there, but then an Alien popped up right in front of me! I actually screamed out loud it was so shocking! If you liked the Alien movies, get this atmospheric game!~

Summary: This game rocks and runs smooth even on a low range system!
Review: Let me start off by saying that this game has a great engine. In fact it runs at a smooth 95 fps on my old AMD-K62 475Mhz with 96 megs of RAM and a 16 meg video card (ATI All-In-Wonder). It's not too fond of WinXP's new 32-bit kernel though.
The game itself is nice too. It oozes with atmosphere. You really feel like you are in the game. Use this for an example. You are playing as the Marine and you are standing at the edge of a pitch-black tunnel and your motion sensor (it shows enemies within an 180 degree arc in front of you and it pings every second and a half or so) shows six enemies waitng for you. You light a flare to help you see as you make your way into the reeking darkness. Suddenly, you hear the scream of an alien behind you. You turn just in time to see the alien jump out of the shadows and you squeeze the trigger on your assault rifle (well, left-click with your mouse), reducing it to a corpse filled with high-caliber rifle rounds. Now this is atmosphere.
The three species are totally different, yet equal. The marine uses motion scanners, assault rifles, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers to take out the alien beasties. The Alien has only a claw attack and a tail whip, but he makes up for it with sheer speed , the ability to climb up walls, and he can jump four stories into the air and cling to a ceiling. The Predator is my favorite. He can cloak, has three (well, four if you count the normal one) vision modes, and you can decapitate the other species with the wristblade or the speargun! His weapons are the coolest; they include the plasmacaster, disc, pistol (really an anti-alien grenade launcher) and the afore-mentioned wristblade and speargun. There is nothing like sneaking up behind an marine and pinning his head to the nearest wall with the speargun.
Other people on this site complain about the game being to hard. From the way they were whining, it sounds like the are console gamers (dorks who play Playstation, Nintendo, and Sega [junk]) who [do badly] at PC games. The missions were harder in the original AvP (you couldn't save mid-mission), and the face-hugger could kill you instantly. But these thing have been fixed (well not the face-huggers). Some versions of the Gold edition do not let you save mid mission, but you can download a patch that fixes it...
Multiplayer is a whole different ballgame. There are a variety of modes, but my favorite is Species Deathmatch. All the Predators vs. all the Marines vs. all the Aliens. Plus, as the alien, if you destroy all the lights in a room, you can "hang out" on the celing until someone comes into the room, then jump down and bite their head off their neck (Yes, you can do that in the game). Mplayer no longer exists so the only options are Gamespy ... and a direct connection (must know the host's IP address. To find yours under Win98, open the run box and type "winipcfg").
This is only the second game ever to make me literally jump out of my seat while playing (the first was Half-Life, Best Shooter Ever, voted Game of the Year by fifty organizations in 1998. ... I would not advise cranking the sound and playing in a dark room if you have a weak heart, bladder, or if you are under 13 or over 62. I have much experience with the first game, and this Gold Edition only makes things better. It comes with my highest recommendations.

Summary: Not as good as the second game.
Review: Not to put to fine of a point on it, but this game is below the standard compared to the second game. As a Predator, you have many weapons right when you begin, but in the second game, you have more of a challenge by having to collect your weapons as you go along. But still, being a Predator is the most fun out of the tree. As an Alien, you are openly vulnerable and can be killed easily. Your vision to "track Predators" is a complete drag 'cause you can't see at all, and you start off as a drone, where's the Face-Hugger, or the Chestburster? Let's move on to Marine. Newbies to this game might think that the Marine is some kind of Alien, but it's not, Marine is soldier, Colonial Marine is the full name. Being a Marine is probably the suckiest out of the three, you're even more vulnerable than Aliens because you can't gain energy from your assaults on enemies, and your infa-red mode is designed just as poorly as the Predator's cloaking. This game got two stars because when your an Alien or a Predator it's fun to stalk your victims. I don't really recommend wasting your money on poorly designed garbage such as this, buy Aliens vs. Predator II, buy something that's worth the money.

Summary: A game with a Challenge
Review: One of the most challenging games that I have ever played. Predator, in my opinion, is by far the easiest character to play as. When playing as a Predator you get auto-aiming weapons, you can never run out of ammo if you are careful because most of the Predator weapon recharge on their own. The alien is slightly more difficult to play as because there are no long range kills. When playing as alien it takes practice. The alien can run up walls and across ceilings, and learning to jump from a ceiling or wall on to an unsuspecting victim can be very hard. The alien also has almost no way to gain lost energy; however, head bites and tearing victims to pieces can restore some lost health. (Which is a fair bonus because most of the time the victim never sees death coming). The Marine, the best character on the game (also in my opinion) and probably the most difficult to master. As a marine there is a whole arsenal of weapons at your disposal, but you have a lot less health than a Predator or Alien. There are med kits spread through out most levels but if you happen to run into an ambush you usually die very quickly; the most challenging but for me the one that is the most fun to play.

The multiplayer action is so cool. Death matches, interspecies matches, co-op matches, and all of them fun to play.

If you like a game with a challenge this is it. You can play as your favorite bad guy or a rough and tuff Marine. So if you can, buy the game and kill something before it can kill you.

Also check out Alien Vs Predator 2. For new challenges and new weapons.

Summary: Brilliantly conceived, but too difficult
Review: The Marine levels contain the most terrifying experiences I've ever experienced in an FPS game. Unfortunately, there is no warm-up to get used to the movement and weaponry - you have to be skillful from the start or die, even on the lowest difficulty setting. It's especially frustrating to try to figure out how to be sparing with your ammo as you advance through the level - since the Aliens respawn in random locations, you can't dawdle long enough to figure out the level. So you have to know the level already to get through it. Even with a walk-through guide (I was COMPLETELY lost before I found one), it's too hard to figure out.

The Predator is a little easier, but he has so much equipment - various vision modes, weapons, a cloak, and more - that it takes a long time to learn to use effectively.

The Alien is the hardest to control (especially since you have to hold down the Crouch key the whole time you cling to a wall or ceiling), but his missions are what finally sucked me into the game. It requires subtlety and finesse, but it's extremely fun when you learn to stalk your victims and drain their life force. Also, while the storyline is minimal, it's clear that the Aliens have a legitimate beef with the humans - which elevates the appeal of the role beyond mere cruelty.

Drawbacks are many - all three characters are WAY too hard to learn to play well, which makes the limited game-saving all the more frustrating. Along the same lines, the cheat codes are so limited and improperly integrated into the program that they're virtually unusable. It's as if the programmers want to stand over our shoulders and "tsk" at us for playing the game the "wrong" way. If it's not "fair" to save your game too often, isn't that MY call, as the player, to make?

Finally, the engine is clunky and the animation choppy - especially that of the alien's attacks from the alien's perspective.

They fixed these and other problems with AvP2, which I haven't picked up yet - I'll try to master this one first. I gave this game a full 4 stars because even with all these problems, the game is still one of the most compelling I've ever played. I'm already in love with playing the Alien, even though I haven't mastered it at the Training level. The majority of players will probably prefer the Predator. But that's the beauty of it - out of the three roles, at least one of them will probably win your heart if you love heart-pounding action...

Summary: Aliens vs. Predator Gold - Excellent Gameplay!
Review: This game has great graphics, great gameplay, and even stays true to the Aliens Movie. Marines in this Gold Edition can now have twin pistols John Woo Style and even a Skeeter Launcher
(A rocket launcher that shoots a wall rebounding disc) This is a must buy for fans of the Alien movies. With a sequel to this game labeled Aliens vs. Predator 2 coming out soon, it's predecessor is still fun and entertaining for all gamers.
Gameplay = 8/10

Summary: This game is AWESOME!
Review: This game is awesome (as my title said). A lot of people have been saying its to hard when really its not that hard especially when you get used to it like me. If you are really having a tough time then you should get the strategy guide for this game, it really helps. If you like first person shooters then you should get this game, and if you like this game you might want to try Aliens vs. Predator 2.
People have also been saying that it doesn't run that well on new computers with windows XP and thats partly true. I've been playing on a brand new Dell with XP and I got it to work. All you got to do is not watch all the videos and credits by hitting spacebar. But you got to do it at a time when there's no sound or almost no sound like at the beginning of the game right after it says rebellion and then goes quiet. Also do this when they show the videos at the beginning of each species, but remember only hit the spacebar when there is no sound or almost no sound. I was able to play all species this way.
Overall this is a great game and i recomend it to anyone. I hope you found this review useful.

Summary: Rewiew of alien vs. predator
Review: This game is awsome couse of the many details in the game, but the game itself is even better. I got the game once put the cd was destroyed and my computer was deleted(couse of an unknown reason) and i missed it ever sence. well let get to the game, you have three species to choose, as a marine it is the most terrifying, once i was in a alien hive and i could hear my heartbeat(in the game) and then an alien came in i got a chock, i sat with one of my friends and was laufing at me.

Well as an alien you only have your basic material(teeth, tale and mauth) it a little easier than a marine. The fun thing is if there is an innocent then you can take a head bite.

And the most borring thing the predator, but it is still fun to destroy the little human being.
