Summary: A great add on to a steller game
Review: .... When you actually get to that phase the game is actually fun. Great missions, great weapns, and great combat. And for people who don't like realsim in their games, don't buy this one, one shot will mostly be likely to kill you 75% of the time, a second shot 24% of the time, and if you ever get down to a third shot your dead.

Summary: WARNING this game cannot be won
Review: because of a SERIOUS BUG in the second mission. Here goes, I'm in the installation that I am trying to save from demo, killed almost everyone, but one demolitionist with and AK-47 trying to escape, I've tried over 20 times to kill this guy, single shot, tri-shot, full auto machine gun, sniper, heck even a grenade launched at him and hitting him in his HEAD, and he will NOT DIE!!! I have grown weary with chasing him unloading ALL of my clips into him. I have also grown weary with the freeze-ups, the reboots of my comp, the idiocy of platoon mates, the ace markmanship of the bad-guys on recruit level, the horrid marksmanship of my guys on recruit. Save your money this game needs some serious debugging

Summary: A letter from a Ghost in Africa
Review: Dear Family:

I hope you got my letter describing how I loved my tour of duty in Europe that I recently undertook. I know you all may not approve of me re-enlisting for a second tour of duty, but my most recent campaign was nothing short of amazing.

My boys and I were traveling to Germany for some R&R when we got the call from HQ that an uprising in Ethiopia was happening. So of course we heeded the call and zipped over to help stop a crazy warlord from disrupting crucial shipping lanes. I must say that our job in Africa is a lot more varied then Europe. Instead of lush forests, we now operate pretty much in the open in the hot dry desert. But all our tactics and training came in handy on this mission, because our foes are just as tough as they were in Europe.

Our missions in Ethiopia started off with a cool beach landing at night. From there we protected convoy's of crucial supplies, assaulted an oil factory, and in our favorite mission, stopped a convoy of three tanks. Wow, that was amazing, but at the same time, nerve-racking.

Our foes are just as tough as the thugs back in Russia. They use combact tactics efficently and smartly, flanking, suppressing fire, they use it all. We also noticed (while we were running for our lives) that they toss a lot more grenades then the russian thugs did. But they also have an annoying tendancy to be able to fire an automatic weapon from yards away and score a headshot (which should be impossible). Believe me when me and my ghost buddies got really, really, ticked off about this.

My buddies have kept all the old skills from the first campaign. They are still essential in surviving a mission, constantly spotting and killing bad guys that would have killed me quickly. But they still need my direct intervention occasionally to make them do the right thing. Good thing we still have all our death-dealing weaponry to teach these warlords a thing or two...hehe...

I expect the news reports on everything we've done will start coming home soon, but trust me. This was one campaign that I liked fighting in.

Your son,
Ghost #325

Summary: Great missions but it ends too soon!
Review: Desert Siege is the new modification for Ghost Recon. Desert Siege includes 8 new missions, several new weapons, 5 new multiplayer maps, and 2 new modes of play: Siege and Domination. While the single player missions are intense, it's the multiplayer that's really outstanding. The muliplayer maps tend
to be medium to small with lots of elevation changes and intricate design (See Canyon). In my opinion, the mission maps are better suited for multiplayer as they offer a better chance for medium to long range engagements. Siege mode was a great addition. The goal of Siege is to overtake or defend a specific location on the map. The fighting is fast and fierce since the fortified position is clearly marked on the map, thereby eliminating the need to hunt and scan for enemies. The only reason I give this game 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the brevity of the single player mode. The addicting design of the maps, coupled with interesting mission objectives, and enemy rich environment leave you crying for more when the missions suddenly halt. I was able to finish all 8 missions in just under a few days of intermittent play. I still highly recommend this add-on, not only for the brief but exciting single player experience but also for the great new multiplayer experiences to follow.

Summary: Notes to New Computer Gamers
Review: First of all, Ghost Recon is one of the best games ever made for any system. I have written 2 reviews on these games, so if you want more detail you can check those out. I just wanted to say a couple things to people BEFORE they buy games of this level.

You HAVE to make SURE you have a PC that can play this game how it was MEANT to be played. When PC Gamer, or any other magazine reviews games they often use very powerful computers to get a true idea of the games capabilities. They use the top of the line processors, graphics accles, and sound systems, not to mention high definition monitors.

Therefore, if you are running something like a P2 250mhz computer with a 8 mb video card, and 64mbs of Ram, its NOT going to look or PLAY how it was made to. I made that mistake once. I had an old computer, bought SWAT 3, and was upset over the graphics, slow downs, choppy play and so on. Then I got my gaming sytem, a 2.0 GHZ P4, 700mb RAM, with a Geforce3 t-500 card, flat screen trinitron etc etc etc....ALL of a sudden SWAT 3 was a TOTALLY different game on the new computer. It's been the case with every game I've bought since, and going by my reviews, I've bought a ton of them.

Graphics cards are sometimes overlooked, and are very important. The quality computer games out there are built for the higher end computers, and if you expect the life like 3-D gaming, anything less than a Geforce 3 will leave you wanting more. The reports on the Geforce4 Ti-4600 are convincing. If you can get it for a good price, don't hesitate.

Bottom line is this...if your going to get into the PC Game Market, make sure you have the system to run them on. It may cost you up to or over 2 grand, but that way your sure to get EVERYTHING you pay for, and expect from PC Gaming. If thats too much, grab a PS2, its discounted and you can still get some great games to keep you entertained.

Good luck and take care.

Summary: A great addition to an already wonderful game
Review: Ghost Recon, probably the most realistic PC FP war game ever released, just got a great add-on for a great price. Desert Siege adds much more to the gameplay then usual mission packs, and for this price you would be foolish not to get it.

I almost exclusively play multiplayer on UBI's gaming network or over my IP. This being said, its a fair statement to say that this mission pack adds an entire new world to the online gaming experience. Not only are there many new single player maps available, but also several multiplayer maps just begging for modern combat. Heck, I would have paid just for the multiplayer maps and the new 'Siege' option while in multiplayer.

Siege allows you to be on the defensive or offensive squad with the goal of capturing a marked location or defending it. This is great fun, especially with max realism and no respawns because you can picture yourself going for the objective on the map as if it were assigned to you in real life...

I dont need to go on. If you liked (or in my case, love Ghost Recon), buy this pack. Support Red Storm and be ready for an amazing fun factor with this expansion!

Summary: Explosive Nerve-Wreaking Expansion Pack!
Review: Ghost Recon: Desert Siege, the new explosive action-packed expansion for the hit PC game of the year, Ghost Recon. Desert Siege, in my opinion, is a truly action-packed add-on that has nerve-wreaking game play, breath-taking graphics, and electrifying multi-player that allows you to wreak havoc on enemies. In Desert Siege, the storyline is the same, except the conflict between countries is now in Africa. When things tend to get out of hand, that's when the highly trained green berets, known as "The Ghosts", are sent out to help control extreme situations. When the U.S. sends out The Ghosts to deal with the conflict in Africa, you are forced to learn new strategies in a whole new place, the deserts! In Desert Siege, there are a lot of goodies added in this explosive expansion pack. Desert Siege now, has improved graphics, 9 new weapons, 8 new single-player missions, 5 new multi-player maps, improved enemy and friendly A.I., and of course, more obstacles containing vehicles, rocks, tents, etc. This is exactly what makes Desert Siege an exciting, nerve-wreaking, breath-taking game experience. Trust me, if you want to get a game, then get a game, but if you want to experience full-fledged excitement and danger, get Desert Siege.

NOTE: Requires full version of Ghost Recon to play Ghost Recon: Desert Siege!
