Description:

Good things really do come to those who wait. If you are a flight simulator fan and missed out on the original releases of Jane's F-15, Comanche Gold, and Jane's World War II Fighters, prepare yourself for one of the best gaming bundles on the market today.

Jane's F-15 is a detailed simulation of one of the U.S. Air Force's most venerable strike fighters. The cockpit and the flight dynamics are modeled in great detail, and everything but the terrain graphics looks terrific when the game is played on a computer with a 3-D accelerator card. This is by far the most accurate simulation of this particular plane ever made.

Comanche Gold is an enormously fun helicopter simulation that focuses more on fast action than realism. The terrain is a little muddy because of the Voxel technology used, but that same technology allows for some truly realistic elevation changes in the environment. Valleys, mesas, canyons, and rolling hills replace the generic flat landscapes and polygonal hills found in other helicopter simulations.

Rounding out the bundle is Jane's World War II Fighters, which lets players fly several planes from that conflict instead of modeling only one in great detail. This simulation still has some of the most beautiful graphics ever to grace a flight simulator, with terrific lighting effects and an extensive damage model that lets players pick an enemy plane apart piece by piece. Individually these games are worth the price of this package, and collectively their bang-for-the-buck ratio is off the chart. --T. Byrl Baker

Pros:

  • Three great games at one low price
  • Runs the spectrum from the most highly detailed simulation to more action-oriented titles
  • Graphics of World War II Fighters are still beautiful to behold
Cons:
  • Comanche Gold's graphics are a little rough
