Summary: An excellent golf simulation, with a few flaws.
Review: Although TW2001 is a great golf sim, I'd have to give it a 4.5 (Rounded up to 5).

With TW2000, if you had enough speed, hard drive space, and RAM, it was definitely worth buying. The same thing applies for 2001. But if you're not going to be using Course Architect, you can save the extra space, and you can always install it later.

If you own and have played past versions of the game, it takes getting used to with the new interface.

The graphics are great. With a 366 Mhz Pentium II, and 128MB SDRAM, I was very pleased with the results. The golfers' animations are perfectly timed. The course layouts and designs are very accurate.

The course selection is a nice variety. A total of 17 courses. The 3 new courses are TPC at Sugarloaf, TPC at River Highlands, and Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.

The gameplay was very nice. Driving was as easy as before, and the same thing goes with the other types of swings. And the putting is much better when compared to Links LS.

And just like earlier versions, TW2001 is backwards compatible with the earlier versions, earlier expansions, and more recent expansions in the EA Sports PGA Tour System of Golf.

The best new feature is the President's Cup, where you can choose the golfers for the two teams and also allows you to have created players entered by selecting on the settings which President's Cup Team he/she is eligible for.

Even with a few flaws, TW2001 is still definitely worth buying!

Summary: Tiger gets a c!
Review: having played many ea sports products, I might there have come in somewhat lofty expectations for this game, i.e., Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2001 by EA Sports. I expected fluid game play, challenging links and easy to manage control system. To a certain extent this came true. The game sounds and looks great. However, the game play feels clunky and the control is links without the ease. Sorry Ea, before you make the 2002 version make the game play a bit better. As it is, I give this game a solid C. Good effort. Adequate.

Review: I find this game very difficult, and also very slow. The courses are very good but the overall game not so good compared to other golf games which are also a lot cheaper.

Summary: Slow, difficult, has glitches... but the courses are great.
Review: I have played Tiger Woods 99 and enjoyed it very much. I cannot say the same for this version. The game play is slow and there are several minor glitches. No single glitch is very bad, but when you add up all the small glitches together, it gets quite annoying.

In addition, this game is quite difficult, especially compared with Tiger Woods 99. I was able to shoot below par pretty often on the pro setting with Tiger Woods 99, but now I average 8-10 strokes over par on Tiger Woods 2001.

The main reason I bought this game was for the new courses, and they are great. With the older version, playing only three courses got boring after a while. This version has many more to choose from, which is a huge improvement. And as always, the computers courses are very close to the real ones. Playing many of these courses in real life is very expensive, so Tiger Woods golf is a nice alternative.

Summary: How 'bout some additional O/S support?
Review: I purchased this title with the intent of running it on my Win2k Pro PC, but it ended up not being compatible. I know the system requirements only list 95/98/ME, but games with those specs usually end up working on NT based systems as well. I ended up installing it on my ME system instead. It's odd because that PC is a blazing P3 1Ghz with 256M of RAM and all other hardware exceedingly surpasses the requirements but it still ran rather sluggish. Not only that but it seemed to lock up at regular intervals--even with the software patches available at EA's site. If I were you, I'd wait until next year's version, which is bound to have even more courses, fewer loading problems and (fingers crossed) multiple O/S support.

Summary: How Stupid
Review: I waited months for "TW 2001" to hit the shelves, but was very disappointed. As an owner and player of "TW 1999" I couldn't wait to get 2001. You see, I went out and bought a new Dell system with all the bells & whistles with Windows ME hoping to have the greatest PC golf experience ever. Well, much to my suprise EA Sports has created Tiger Woods 2001 but it does not support Windows 2000 or ME. I mean, this new "OS" has only been out for close to a year now. STUPID STUPID STUPID

Summary: Awful at best . . .
Review: The flinstones of golf games , PGA Tour 2001 continues to garner support from reviewers ?? I'm amazed by how truly primitive this game is after spending time with Microsofts Links series . PGA Tour 2001 has pathetic graphics , horrible ball physics and audio . . . I can't really think of one redeeming quality except that it uninstalls easily to let me get back to playing Links 2001 .
