Summary: 98 beats 2002
Review: .

For a much eagerly awaited game, in my opinion this one is a disappointment.

Sure, the graphics have been taken to a much higher level, the pre- and post-game visuals are almost real TV broadcasts, and the replays are amazing.

But, stop here and ask yourself; did I buy the game to enjoy visual effects or to play virtual soccer?

Concerning the game itself there are no improvements from the previous version (world cup 98); in fact it is worse. The game lacks depth and seems to be developed by someone with a less knowledge of real soccer; the AI is a bit confused and inconsistent. Also gone many options from the older version, like the "customize" option where you can set up the player's attributes and appearance yourself.

If you have "world cup 1998" stick with it, because regardless of the visual effects, you have a really enjoyable soccer game...And by the way, the game programmers started "Ronaldo" as a midfield player!!!

Summary: Fifa 2002 World Cup: a game that really scores goals!!!
Review: Can you honestly believe playing an old video game is much better than playing a new one? Well Fifa 2002 World cup compares favorably against Fifa 2003 and some of the more newer produced games. The following reasons will elaborate and elucidate why.
First of all, let's discuss the graphics of this game. This game is very clear from the grass on the floor, to the top of the player's face. It shows you every single little detail. You can also see the player's number located on the front and back of their jerseys, even the ball is clear! The ball is the exact and precise one that the teams play with in the world cup.
Unlike some other newly produced games, the Fifa 2002 World Cup has a new beginners mode for difficulty and eight different camera views such as tele and sideline; whereas the new ones are not on these technical levels. The newer games start from the Amateur level. This is a more difficult level, which discourages you, because you need the opportunity to learn at a lower pace to understand the game, and Fifa 2002 World Cup has this new mode. Like I said before you need the opportunity to learn at a lower pace to understand the game, and Fifa 2002 World Cup, Fifa 2002 World Cup has 8 different and distinct camera angles and views.
Another reason is tricks, you know, things like players using their knees and feet with the ball. Well, the Fifa 2002 World Cup allows the players to use their body skills with the ball on the field. In the more recent soccer games, such as Fifa 2003, there are little or no tricks that you can do with the ball.
In addition to tricks, lets converse, about commentary. The M.C. or better known as Masters of Comments, (commentators) are not at all biased about the teams or the players. Their comments are fun to listen to. An example would be when one player lobs the ball to his teammate, who from there heads the ball toward goal, but is saved by the goalkeeper, they might say, "Wow! That was an excellent header but and even better save. The strikers frustrated with that, as you can tell!"
Lets now examine loading. Long loading, what a waste of time that causes frustration! Long loading is the trouble with a lot of soccer games today. The loading takes somewhat long, but that is due to good graphics and good game play, Long loading is the trouble with a lot of soccer games today. The Fifa 2002 World Cup takes around twenty-three seconds to load on a Windows ME computer, whereas, other games like Fifa 2003 take around thirty to forty seconds to load. So Fifa 2002 World Cup is not bad.
Also, if you haven't already read this at the top of this review, this game is rated "E," which is for everyone, so anyone can play. Fifa 2002 World Cup was produced in the year 2002 by E.A. (Electronic Arts.) sports. This game costs from thirty to thirty-five dollars, depending on where you buy the game from, and what system you buy the game for. Fifa 2002 World Cup comes for the following systems: Playstation One and Two, X-box, P.C. computers, and Gamecubes.
This game really deserves a four and a half out of five stars because it has almost everything a soccer fan would enjoy and want. There is good graphics, commentary, shots, saves, game play, goal celebrations, difficulty levels, angled camera views, and fair loading. I recommend this game to anyone who likes sports, even if they do not find soccer a fun game, because when you start playing Fifa 2002 World Cup, it challenges you at a level you can play at and just the challenge alone is very fun to take on. People who do like soccer, this game is practically going to addict you! Therefore, if you want to have fun and play a good realistic soccer game, turn to Fifa 2002 World Cup, and remember it is well worth the money!!!

Summary: Great Game, past problems
Review: FIFA 2002 was a major improvement from the lackluster package which EA came out with on 2001. To be very frank I was very dissapointed with the 2001 product and to a large extent with anything coming out after 1999, simply because the epic, and fun of before was not there. Thankfully for us all EA has decided to release a great problem solver such as World Cup 2002. Although it tags along with the EA mentally of "great graphics, poor game" it really does much towards improving the level of both excitement and realism on the pitch. By bringing all 20 World Cup Statdiums to life and taking drama to the next level the game gets away from the poor taste after a FIFA 2002 Cup victory or for that sake anything after 99. The game continues to improve on the passing models and with new player reactions to rival challenge things come to life in a whole different way.

Some of the bad things still persist. If you play long enough you will find there are bugs that will let you score EVERY time. Also sometimes good teams become really bad teams in seconds and bad teams good. This inconsistency on the part of the AI makes it hard to get a real sense of being there as far as football is concerned. Other minor problems persist with the running and goalkeeping.

Overall, if you, like me can't wait for the World Cup to start and are a die hard soccer fan, you will definetly enjoy this new EA product

Summary: E.A. Sports Lifts the Trophy
Review: From the graphics to the mechanics of football, this game does everything right. Gone are the days when strikers could run end-to-end at will, headers would go in from 10 feet outside the penalty area, and corners were undefensible. The criticisms, that the game is simply a replication of FIFA 2002, are off a bit the mark. The dynamics of player movement have been improved and the graphics have been improved slightly. But how much can you expect E.A. to improve upon an excellent product any way? The only criticism I have is that E.A. still has not entirely addressed the mapping problem with the Sidewinder controller. This is a minor problem though. If you're a football fan this game will not disappoint you.

Summary: Graphics decent...Gameplay inconsistent
Review: I am not a World Cup fan but I am a computer gamer. The graphics seems decent and excellent. The sound is obviously decent as well. But the gameplay is a little sketchy. The goalie is obviously off. The AI player fits with the level of difficulty, but not your players. When the computer calls offsides and the computer receives the ball, your own team members kicks it back out. It does not happen once but the ball keeps going out for about three or more times. Not good. The goalie [disappoints] too. The computer player is in the goal box and he kicks the ball lightly and the goalie just stand there. The computer scores a goal. The goalie could not match the computers goalie or real goalie. Overall, game is fun for awhile but gets boring real quick.

Summary: Not for online gamers
Review: I and a friend bought that game in order to play together online.
But guess what : Multiplayer for EA sports is just not working!!!!! Go and check on their web site and you'll see that everybody is complaining!
So keep your money as they are not even answering e-mails!

Summary: this game is tight man
Review: I was a little surprised to such low reviews, because the graphics of this game are amazing-absolutely amazing. I found the actual game play to be really good too. Besides the amazingly accurate lobs and passes, it's a very accurate portrayal of real soccer. Plus the environment of the world cup fever is great with the animated crowd.
