Summary: Better graphics, hidden levels from THPS1 Fabulous!
Review: Pro Skater is a skateboarding game like no other, first, chose from 13 pro skaters each with their own tricks, stats and special moves or create your own custom made pro skater. Then have them skate in eight detailed skate parks (eight more hidden!). For each skate park you skate in, there are a number of goals to accomplish for each, such getting high scores by earning points from performing tricks, grinds, and jumps over gaps (like building to building), collecting the letters SKATE, grinding three rails, jumping over fire hydrants and various other things, they vary from level to level. When you complete a goal you get money to gain cash that you can buy new skateboards, upgrades to better your skater and you can also buy bigger tricks. Having a little brother that loves Tony Hawk, he now has Tony Hawk 2 on every gaming system, and I must say that Tony Hawk 2 for the PC is by far the best! First off, the price, second the graphics are a huge step up from the Playstation and N64 versions, such as very detailed textures and even graffiti looks great. Also the fact that it is on your computer lets you save limitless games, demos and skate parks (you are limited to only three created skaters though)! You can download skate parks from the Internet and play them too. Finally, the best part is that you can earn hidden courses from the first Tony Hawk Pro Skater, but unfortunately you must enable them one at a time! You do however NEED a controller, because the keyboard is poorly configured to use with this game!

Summary: Highly Recommended - by a non-skater!
Review: I prefer less hazardous sports than skateboarding (like skydiving for instance) and always laugh when I see some idiot slip off the rail, sans protective gear, and do a faceplant into the concrete. That said, I'll admit this game is addictive enough to give skaters a little respect.

I've never played the original Tony Hawk so I can't really compare this version, but it looks like it's a port from the console. No biggie, it still looks and plays great and the system requirements are minimal provided you have a good 3D card. The game is a reflex test, like Mortal Kombat. This is not a simulation, so you'll be doing those pro moves in no time. Timing is key, and the best moves are performed when you have a combination of speed and accrued experience, meaning you were able to execute enough moves without messing up.

There are a *ton* of moves available for button mashers. Every board flip, grind, and grab can be performed differently depending on which direction you are pointed and which button you are pressing. Tricks even vary depending on which skater you choose, but not wildly. Objectives can vary from collecting pilots wings in an airplane hanger to hassling the bums on Venice Beach. Speaking of which, the locations are very well done and the music's good too even though the sound quality is a little poor. It is apparent this game would best be played on a gamepad, but you can still get away with using the keyboard. I find myself frequently discovering new moves.. phrases such as "hey, a One-Foot-Smith. That's pretty cool. How did I do that?" will become common.

The best feature of the game are the "hidden" areas opened up by exploring and performing tricks. Grind the board off the helicopter blades and it takes off through the roof. Get run over enough times and pretty soon you'll searching for a tomato-throwing maneuver (if you find it, let me know). If you're really good, Spider-Man may drop in for a visit.

Fun game and worth the purchase price. Buy it, then get the neighbor kid to show you all the cool moves.

Review: I'll just get to the negatives. The reasons I gave it only 4 stars is:

1. If you fall during a "chain" of tricks, you get ZERO points for all your effort.

2. At least on my 450mhz/RivaTNT machine, sometimes the skater won't turn when I tell it to ...

3. Some of the hidden areas are impossible to find w/out searching the internet for clues.

4. In order to unlock the final level, you have to 100% all the previous levels (and win 3 gold medals) with EACH of the 5 (or so) skaters included in the game. This would take me about 2 years to complete - BOGUS (I hate cheating).

5. Finally, I think the people/graphics look a little cheezy (the locations, ramps and skies look pretty good, though).

Other than that, it's a great investment! (If you're like me, you'll yell at your computer allot - in a good way)

Summary: Everything you want a new game to be and more.
Review: I have never so much as touched a skateboard in my life, but I was bored one afternoon so I d/led the THPS2 demo. I haven't stopped playing it for more than an hour or so since. I bought the game and was thrilled. I love the feeling of looking at the clock, seeing 3:23 AM and going "Just one more round, I want to see if I can get on top of that one thing" and seeing the sun come up after 37 rounds of free skate.

The Career mode is a little off, but not bad. I like collecting things to an extent, but would of rather had a direct competition with other skaters.

The Park and Skater creators add literally tons of replay value and enjoyment to the game. If everything else starts to bore you make an awesome park, no more boredom, simple!

The soundtrack is fitting, i'm not a fan of that style of music but it doesn't really get annoying until you have played for 7 hours straight. The sound effects are excellent and sound real.

Its reletively easy to pick up and play, it might take 5 minutes to an hour if your not a gamer to really play but the controls are to no extent insurmountable.

You really have to play to know what I mean but this game is great, I love asking myself "What if I do this..." and finding a new secret trick thing area, this is really fun! You can really get good, try the demo. At first I said "Good God 40,000!" but now its easy to get that with a single trick thats well executed. You will be breaking 500,000 points on the demo in no time, maybe 2 1/2 hours of play tops.

In short, this is the best investment of 30$ in a game I have made yet. Its already paid for itself. I am sure you will enjoy it too. Get it and see what I mean, or get the demo. Either way you will be hooked.

Summary: The most fun game i've tried for a long long time
Review: I wasn't really exited when i read that Tony Hawk 2 had been released,... i couldn't have cared less, but my best friends were exited about this game, so since they liked it so much, it couldn't be all bad, so i bought it and i'd think that was the smartest thing i've ever done in purchasing games, cause Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 is the one of the most enjoying games i've ever played, although it's not deep, no exeptional features, nor a plot (which i think is essential in most games) it just creates a smile on your face, it's so fun playing it, and you can become very very good at this game, and then enjoy it even more.

I've also found that you don't get bored of this game, it's always as fun even when you've played it all through, finished it with all the skaters, it's extremely enjoyable. The moves are all very very well done, and the tricks are very realistic except for how high you jump.

the graphics are clean and smooth, and the music is delightful it's fun for everybody, so i guarentee you much fun.... Thanks for reading. i hope you'll find this review helpful

Summary: Review of Computer Version of Tony Hawk 2
Review: Let me first say that Tony Hawk 1 and 2 are groundbreaking games. After reading the other reviews, it's apparent that others are in agreement. The best update from the original game is the level editor. You can even upload and download levels from the internet now. The ability to "manual" in between grinds is probably the 2nd most relevant update from Tony Hawk 1. It allows the skater to extend their lines (series of tricks), in almost infinite ways. The computer version also offers several levels from Tony Hawk 1; not the best ones though as School 1 is omitted. In comparison with the PlayStation version, the PC Tony Hawk is far superior. I'd say I get twice the frame rate as on the PS version. Also there is much less fogging of the background. Another note is that the PC version offers me a much higher capacity than the PS version to design levels, which is invaluable when implimenting risers and blue moves. Overall- I highly recommend Tony Hawk 2, especially the PC or Dreamcast versions. Also be sure to have a controller/joystick, which is essential.

Summary: ITS GREAT (for a year or 2)
Review: THPS2 is a very fun & challenging game. Getting all the gaps, level goals, and unlocking levels and charecters. But once uv played it for a year,(like me)it can get sort of boring: "I know where that rail goes" , "I know what this unlocks". Nevertheless, if u buy this game it will make u happy for a long time.

Summary: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
Review: This game is awesome and addictive. It took me about 1 yr to beat it, then i got the cheats for it. Its fun with the cheats too. Thers i think maybe 8 diff skate parks, but once you pass them, you got 3 extra parks...plus you have a slew of pre-made parks to practice on. So even if you['re bad] at the game you can ride the pre-made parks. You can also make your own parks, and it's easy to make. You don't need to know any programming.

Other games like this: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2x, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, Grind Session, Thrasher

Summary: great but not great
Review: all I have 2 say is get it if u like sk8ing and games. The only reason I gave this game 4 stars is because once you beat the game
15 times u can't do anything at all but play the same levels over and over and over again.
