Summary: I'm addicted - but getting bored
Review: I've been playing AC for about 20 months. The game was outstanding for the first several months. The landscape plus the challenge of creating an allegiance of other players to complete quests was fun. As the game went on, cheaters and hackers have ruined the game. Turbine almost refuses to discipline or ban them, I guess they're afraid to lose money. The last 6-8 months, I've noticed that very, very, very few people are joining the game. While turbing has worked to provide low level content, it's not being used. The high level content is there mostly for mages. Warriors are pretty much left out of the fun. In fact, just the other day, my level 67 warrior was having kills stolen by a level 42 mage!!! This should just not happen.

Summary: This game is awesom!
Review: The game is awesom, i like the vast landscape. The game is massive, would you belive it takes a full 8 hours to run the entire of dereth with a 100 run skill, and there are over 350 spells! Also the fact that the game updates every month provides a new chalange. More than 20,000 people play the game so there is always someone to chat to when you aren't hunting or doing quests. Also there is sooo much armor and weapons that you are constantly searching for new stuff. The game is really cool, I know atleast 15 people who play it in real life.... Also with the expansion pack peeps are going to be able to get their own houses!...

Summary: AC: The greatest game I've ever played
Review: AC is, by far, the greatest game I've ever played. When I bought it in November, 1999 it was just as a time filler until Diablo II or Baldurs Gate II came out.

They came out and I bought and began playing them. Turned out AC was much better than either. I left both Diablo II and BG II after finishing 25% and came back to AC. AC can be anything you want it to be.

Summary: HORRIBLE GAME WASTE OF MONEY
Review: This game is a horrible game. I'll admit it is addictive, but what is the point of the game?? There isn't one it's unbeatable. Now you may not play to win and (i have played this game for a long time and know just about every thing there is to know about the game)you just want to play for fun.WRONGE GAME!!!!! Unless you buy a charactor on ebay or have friends with high levels charactors it's really hard to get started. If you play to kill others all I can say to you is have fun getting killed 100000000 times. There are super power monachey who OWN dungens. That means if you go there you die.And there are clans that own EVERYTHING! If your not level 50 at least your fun turns in to a bad time. If you make you charactor wronge (you'll realize later if you did)the game sucks. If you get the game you'll be addicted at first. After you play for a year or so it becomes alot less fun then it becomes less and less fun.Trust me this game IS A VARY VARY BAD GAME!!!! By the wasy im not really 12 just dont have an amazon email. Im realy 15 i started at 13 when I bought the game.

Summary: Kill, kill, kill. Rookie game designers lose their way.
Review: After playing Asheron's Call for almost 18 months, I was left with a sick feeling in my stomach. For lovers of the fantasy genre, this game had much promise from the it's beginning, but quickly decayed into an empty shell created by poor game design.

Quests are horrible, and quests items are merely shiny toys to show off. They, for the most part, serve no purpose and are useless.

Character classes are a complete joke. At the point of character creation you are given a great number of choices and variables, but after 2 months of play you quickly realize that almost all character skills are useless. Only 2 character classes are viable: Mages and Warrior-Mage hybrids that MUST have Life magic.

The world in vast, but unused. Monsters are dull, and for the most part the designers take one monster and 'skin' it 10 different ways, and call them new monsters. Player vs. player is a joke (once again you must be 100% magic heavy). Archery is a joke after 2 months of play. Lockpicking is useless. Alchemy is useless....on and on.

A good concept, but horrid design. Kill, kill, kill, level, kill, kill, kill, level. A bad first person shooter.

If you pick up this game and love fantasy, you will be hooked for 2 months, until you begin to realize that all the fantasy/lore/quests elements mean nothing. To play the game after that you must kill the same monsters sometimes 5000-10000 times to become strong enough to kill the next monster. Them you kill it 10000 times to become strong enough to kill the next monster. Get the picture?

One other point to touch on is the lack of punishment for cheaters and exploiters...there is none. At various times the servers have gone through periods in which they would crash very frequently due to players exploiting the game (and 'duping' items). Also, the monthly updated code always causes long periods of game outages.

Bad game play. Poor design. Bad code. A first person shooter in the disguise of a fantasy game.

Summary: This is the Best Multiplayer game EVER.
Review: This has got to be the best multiplayer game of all time. I have played EverQuest, and I didn't get why anyone would play a massivly MP game. I randomly grabbed AC the other day, and now I know.

As soon as I entered the enormous world of Dereth, I knew that I was gonna love it. The graphics were amazing and still caused no lag. In fat, all lag is minimal, and the game is still amazing. The best part is that it is all original. No elves, dwarfes or Orcs anywhere. I battled Drudges as opposed to goblins, and epic battles with gromnies replace the ubiquitous dragon. I was astounded by the way it was so easy to start, but still managed to get you thinking. I often leave the screen with tales of chivalry on my part.

This game is a great way to meet people. Other players are always helpful, and are usually willing to help a new player with a gift of pyreals, the currency used in the game. For the competitive PvP is available.

Anyone who does not get this game is really missing out.

Summary: Cool Fun
Review: I thoroughly enjoy this game about once a week on average. I would say that I disagree with some of the other comments about harsh language, which I have not encountered, and participation in the allegiance system is completely voluntary. My own experience has been excellent.
I sometimes wish I had more time to play, but the game allows for me to not play for months at a time and pick up where I left off pretty easily.

Summary: Great Game.
Review: I really don't know what to type that others have not said.
I give this game a great review =).
It has kept me playing for over 18+ months, and they were usually enjoyable times.

Summary: Some things parents need to know about Asheron's Call
Review: While the game is enjoyable as an adult... it has one serious problem for anyone easily offended or thinking about buying it for their kids. Microsoft (who controls policy for game play) will not take any action on anything said via a private message to you from any player. It may be death treaths, it may be racist hate speech, it may simply be harrassing messages of a violent sexual nature. "Nothing" will be done to players sending these messages... it is their policy that anything sent via private messages is just that... private. That being the case, I highly recommend choosing another game if you are easily offended or plan on letting your children watch and/or play. The game is advertised as for ages 13+, however... due to the violent and graphic in nature messages you will recieve, the true age group is likely 21+. I enjoy playing, but have quickly filled up my allowable list of players I can "squelch" so I won't have to listen to the profanity, threats, and general harrassment.
