Review: Pretty cool game. If you like first person shooters....this is a must. The graphics are the best I have seen and the story line keeps you in the game.

Summary: Refreshing
Review: A highly entertaining first-person game with lots of action and humor. The heroine, Cate Archer, can be best described as Vanessa Kensington (Elizabeth Hurley) from the Austin Powers movies. The voice acting and dialogue are excellent as well as the graphics. The cut scenes are quite humorous as well as the battle sequences. The "Wizard of Oz" level was a pleasant surprise and worth the price alone. However, the last level bosses were pretty much handled the same way which was kind of a let down but the game is still one great game.

Summary: Awful
Review: This game had potential, what killed it is it's incompatablity with some graphics cards. That is the trouble I found with this game, if you buy it make sure you have the correct graphics card otherwise the game will NOT work correctly. I think part 1 of the series was much better than this one.

Summary: Great Game
Review: If you intend to play this game before you have completed the first NOLF, you are making a major mistake. This is a great game, but the original NOLF was much better. If you beat NOLF 1, and are still thirsty for more Cate Archer espionage, this is your fix.

Many reviewers say that this game is sub par until one is about 2/3 of the way through the game. This is simply not true. The first level was a great introduction to people who are new to the 1st person stealth genre. My newbie friend played it and immediately got the hang of the game. Even though it was easy, admit it: you had fun pinning ninjas to a wall with a cross bow, didnt ya? Also the India level is great. I think the tracking dart feature was really cool.

Great features addded to this game:
1)Hiding feature. Added a whole new strategy to stealth; stir up some mayhem, and then hide away, and wait for the heat to die down.
2)Searching feature. I am sick of games where you simply walk over someones body and you automatically pick up their gun. In this game you searched dead enemies bodies for intelligence and gear.
3)Skill point system. This was both good and bad, because this gave the gamer more inscentive to collect intelligence, and to complete optional objectives. It was bad because:
a. Some of the skills had no merit; i.e. searching and gadgets. It is not necessary to be able to search a body quickly at any point in the game, nor is it necessary to pick a lock quickly.
b. Once you have four or more points in both armor and stamina, you are a tank, making the game overly easy.

There were quite a few things from the original NOLF that i missed, and I shall list them for you now:
1) Santa's workshop
2)Emphasis on stealthiness, because in NOLF 2, stealthiness is fun, but once you get caught, you can easily take out your AK and blast away. In the original NOLF, it may have been frustrating, but on the stealth missions, as soon as you were caught, the mission failed. This led players to rely more on stealth and espionage, which is what being a spy is about.
3)Interactive cut scenes. I thought it was great to be able to choose what you wanted to say.
4)NOLF 2 was so much shorter than the origninal. In the original NOLF, almost every single chapter of the original took place in a new location. In NOLF 2 up to 4 chapters would take place in the same location. I think this cheats gamers out of an interesting experience, because new locations make the action so much more interesting.
5)Jumping out of a plain with no parachute, and blasting baddies with a machine gun held gangsta' style. 'Nuff said.

Verdict: Buy this game and also buy NOLF: Game of the Year edition. Together they are the two best spy games in existence. Yes, even better than James Bond in Night Fire. If you have played Night Fire you will know what I am talking about.

Summary: Reboot City
Review: Love this game, but hate the glitches. I have to reboot my computer after every gameplay session. Like many others who have written reviews, I too just purchased a brand new computer, yet still have problems making NOLF2 run smoothly. I hope Sierra is listening! Back to Vice City, which runs flawlessly.

Review: this game has more bugs than any other game I have played, the music stinks, I think part 1 was much better, I think you should wait for 3 and pass on this one.

Summary: Very Entertaining - but Cheaters Beware
Review: I liked the first NOLF so I bought this sequel. This game is a lot of fun to play, the graphics are very well rendered and the humorous storyline held my interest. I especially liked using the crossbow, impaling many a foe against a wall! I also loved the fact that you can ride vehicles in this game, its alot of fun "thumping" guards with a snowmobile.

Some of the game levels are too difficult at times, "find this paper, get this switch"; prompting me to resort to cheat codes in order to move things along. Be warned: using certain cheats at certain times will lock you out of game's storyline; preventing you from picking up a necessary item that triggers a new plot sequence. I learned this the hard way, when I had to repeat an entire mission over because I could'nt pick up a briefcase full of supplies.

Other than that one problem I have had a good time playing NOLF2, my computer seems to like the game two since it runs just fine without any patches installed. Buy it.

Summary: FUN...But Something Seems To Be Missing
Review: If you had the opportunity to play the original No One Lives Forever, and you're thinking of purchasing the sequel, chances are you liked the original: A fun, campy, action-packed spoof of 1960's spy movies (James Bond in particular) and television shows.

NOLF2 delivers another dose of the same in this first person shooter. The graphics are well-done with Lithtech's Jupiter engine. The levels are varied (the tricycle chase and the house-in-a-tornado battle were both different and hilarious), the conversations between the bad guys are as much the silly fun they were in the original and the action is well-paced. A new skills-based "lite" system adds interest to the game. Cate Archer, the character you play, is able to be made into a sneaky, silent spy or a full-bore gun goddess. Your choice!

The Artificial Intelligence is some of the most interesting that I've seen. The baddies don't just go off on timed pathfinding. They are programmed to be object based. In other words, they do something different all the time, based on objects in a room. And when there are many different objects in the room (cigarettes, chairs, desks, coffee cups, etc.) it can trigger a different action each time you load the game--extending its replayability.

So, with so much right, why only 4 stars? On its own, it's a brilliant game. However, compared to the original NOLF, it is missing something. It's taken me a long time to pinpoint what that is, but I believe it lacks the same soul as its predecessor. The cut scenes have been trimmed CONSIDERABLY, which has led to less character development than the original had. The game is also shorter. Plus, some of the stealth aspects were still less feasible because there is a place early in the game where the baddies respawn. It tends to push you from loitering in one place for too long, but that is an irritating way to move the game along.

Overall, I got the feeling that the developers did an excellent job listening to complaints about the original and addressing them. However, I believe they overcorrected in their solutions. Still, the game stands on its own. I have no doubt a third installment will be coming. My hope is that the end result will include the better storytelling aspects from the first, meshed with the improved design of the second.
